surg
Does anyone know anything about purchasing health insurance in Bangkok? I am 61 years old and in pretty good health. Will be arriving in Oct. 2004 and will register at Bumrungrad Hosp. Currently taking blood pressure pills and probably will need general medical care from time to time. Thanks
OldAsiaHand
A lot of us use BUPA, but as I recall their premium brackets top out at either 60 or 62 so they may not be willing to cover you. Health insurance here really isn't the necessity it is in the US, however. Health care in general is far, far cheaper in Thailand and if you are in good health you're annual cost will probably be less than you were paying in insurance premiums in the US. I know going bare is probably scary, but you may have little choice and it may not really matter all that much.
chuckd
BUPA will insure you through age 65, and possibly beyond if you are insured by them prior to reaching your 66th birthday. I say "possibly" because my first attempt at renewal comes up in one month's time. I have had no claims so hopefully there will be no problem.
