Poi Pet Border Run Report

Recommended Posts

Youve  misunderstood  me........i/m  not  worried  i  just  cant  be  arsed  to  queue  for  a  couple  of  hours  on  the  Cambodian  side.........i  fancy  a  change  anyways. Its  going  to  be  either  Pong  Nam  Ron  or  Singapore  next  time.

Try Had Lek.

Same system, but very few people, so quite quick.

I dont know anyone who's ever heard of Osmach

Osmach is the casino i think, Its called the Osmach resort, i go in there to play roulette, when across border at chon chom. otherwise the only thing there is a market about half a kilo own the road, there is a restaurant there with superb food. stir fries etc. and get a black panther stout that will blow your mind out at 8% proof.

So, what happens now when you go with Jacks?

The format was, go have lunch in the casino while we sort out your visa and dep stamp.

I'm assuming every entrant to Cambo has to line up to have their piccy taken now and no time for din-dins at the casino, or am I mistaken? :o

udon,

arrive at the border, all passengers will have their lunch first and than the agony begins. All passengers will have to line up at the arrival counter of the Cambodia immigration. The Jacks can not do your Cambodia visa anymore as you have to personally attend the immigration for your pics to be taken by their digital camera.

After that process is done, you'll pass your passport at the Jacks and they'll do all the rest as normal.

You will have to wait a while (45 to 1 hour) as the Jacks will have to do the departure stamp for the Cambodia border and then your re-entry stamp at the Thai immigration.

This is based on my experience.

Explorer :o

Explorer,

thank you.

As you may or not have seen elsewhere, I have a commercial interest in visaruns. :D

Maybe I should forget the running and stick to letting runners DIY and drop our fees.. Will wait and see, no hurry :D

I wish we could leave at 05:00 from Sukh but I don't think clients would agree :o

I am watching this post with great interest as I am due to do a visa run this Friday!! I was planning to do the usual Jack's Golf trip to Poi Pet but reading about the new procedures has put me right off that idea!

I am in Bangkok - any better alternatives would be duely considered!

Anyone been on a run to Poi Pet in the last few days?

Cheers,

GGG.

i activated the 2nd entry of my visa yesterday with Jack's Golf through PoiPet. no problems except had to wait about 20 minutes in line at the Cambodia border to get the picture taken and passport scanned (we were able to eat lunch first, though), then we were back on our way. left at 7am and got to Bangkok around 4:30pm, almost the same time as usual. i'd still recommend it.

Maybe mid-week is a good day to do the run........avoid Fridays to Monday (weekend casino visitors) ?

They are not only taking your photo, they are also scanning the id page of the passport.

All very high tech, except that the man on the machine is not computer literate.

Hmmm, may be sensible to take a small brolly next time, and not worry about face.

That sun seems hotter in Cambo, dunno why :D

  • 7 months later...

I live in Sa Kaeo province. I take the bus back and forth to BKK from time to time.

From my village in the southern portion of Sa Kaeo province to Sa Kaeo city is about 45km. Which cost me about 45 to 50 baht.

From Sa Kaeo city to Bangkok is 137 baht.

The distance from Sa Kaeo to Aranyapreth is about the same distance as from Sa Kaeo to my village.

You guys who have 2000 Baht to give to these VIP visa run services sure must have a lot of money to burn.

If you were to make a visa run, round trip, to the border using Inter-Provincal busses, it would probably only take you 500 baht at the most.

Point is.....its much cheaper to go to the bus station in BKK to get to Aranyapreth, than to take a VIP bus. I am sure the VIP bus has nice perks which to some are worth the trip. For me, I'll catch the bus at the bus station.

Never done a package visa run myself. Allways DIY for me, but i would assume that the 2000 baht includes the 1000 baht for the visa, 100 baht tea money for the Cambo guys and includes lunch. So to some people i guess the 400 baht differance is not too much. In Pattaya they charge around 2000 baht and pick you up from ,and drop you back to your house ,and considering going from Pattaya to Poipet by public bus is not that straightforward to me it seems like a good deal.
