Portlandstone
Will have to do a visa run tomorrow and on the way back in would like to bring several 6-packs of beer I bought in Vientiene. How many cans is the limit?
Thanyaburi Mac
It's one liter of booze or wine, don't know about beer, but would bet not more than a 6-pack if you're checked. Also one carton of cigs. How about asking at NK Customs before you cross over the bridge? Also ask around NK, there might be case loads of Beer Lao available for sale, as there seem to be in C. Rai & C. Mai now and then. gotlost
TOBACCO PRODUCTS AND ALCOHOLIC DRINKS There are limits on the amount of alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, cigars and smoking tobacco to which you may include in your duty free personal exemption as follows: No more than 200 cigarettes No more than 500 grams* of smoking tobacco (includes cigars) 200 cigarettes and cigars or smoking tobacco each or in total must not exceed 500 grams* 1 litre of spirituous liquor As TM said ask at customs before you cross over. Portlandstone
Good advice if I say so myself, hopefully someone up there will be of help. Will be surprised if beer is same as harder stuff. Thanks.
Thanyaburi Mac
Take your calculator along, maybe you can convince them that one liter of Finsprit is about equal to 2-3 cases of Beer Lao, if only the volume of alcohol is considered. FYI, I still have my bottle of Finsprit that I got in Khartoum 20 years ago! Mac
Prajak
You must always obey the law ! Even when the customs officers are sleeping. So if you leave the shuttle bus as the last person, and you dawdle over the entree card, can not find your passport, can not find your glasses, are the last one in the queue, get your stamp and ask the officer how long you can stay this time, see the shuttle bus leave (it is only one hundred meter to the station...) than you will find the customs officers back in their office. No one will notice you. But you still must report....... But do you ?
NADTATIDA1
I have it on good authority that by the end of the year there will be a Duty Free place/shop inside Thailand not far from the border at Nong Khai, just waiting for the naughts to be crossed and it will be cheaper than all the tat you can get at the Laos side most probably except beer Laos of course which will be imported (depending on how much "tax" the owners have to pay,we will see!
