Amsterdam’s firm is preparing a complaint for the International Criminal Court on behalf of the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship — the Red Shirts — urging the court to investigate Prime Minister Abhisit’s Vejjajiva’s government for alleged crimes against humanity last April and May when it opened fire against demonstrators calling for elections.

Thaksin Shinawatra, the former Thai prime minister who was deposed in a coup in 2006, is contributing towards the legal expenses.

Amsterdam was contacted by Shinawatra last spring and arrangements were made to have the lawyer go to Thailand to help negotiate an end to the standoff.

“What happened was, the government didn’t want to talk,” he says bluntly. “The government’s preference, quite frankly, is to mow people down in the streets.”

That included three nurses gunned down at a temple, Amsterdam notes, saying the memory of snipers firing on unarmed protesters “will haunt me forever.”

Mr A is just a highly paid BS artist who tries to portray his insidious clients in the best possible light. Anyone with at least half a brain should see through the rubbish he or his proxies posts. You have to give the man credit, even though he must have no scruples, for coming up with a great way to make vast sums of money with little risk.

Couple of weeks ago he was on BBC, defending his little russian magnate client, and with a straight face said to the news caster that 'they have no evidence', 'the whole trial is a sham', 'there is absolute no evidence against my client' etc etc.

He is not above lying people that aren't read up on the subject straight in the face - some might believe him and that is what he is paid for. PR spin and propaganda.

Surely if he didnt represent them then someone else would, he is obviously very good at his job and doesnt have to scrounge off the taxpayer by poncing legal aid in order to make a living like most solicitors in the west have to.
