ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- As many as 12,580 people were killed in Pakistan in 2010, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) said in its annual report, which was released on Thursday.

The report also revealed that during 2010, there were 67 suicide attacks that killed 1,159 people, including 1,047 civilians, while 581 kidnappings were reported for ransom and 16,977 cases of abduction.

Furthermore, terrorist attacks resulted in the death of 2,542 people and the injuries of another 5,062, the HRCP report said.

In addition, target killings in Karachi accounted for the murders of 237 political activists and 301 civilians, and in Balochistan, 118 deaths and 40 injured. Lyari gang wars, meanwhile, ended 81 lives.

According to the report, U.S. drones strikes were responsible for 957 extra-legal killings.

The HRCP also noted that 99 Ahmedis were killed due to their faith and religion, while impunity for perpetrators of violence against minority communities continued.

At least 64 people were charged under the blasphemy law, including Aasia Bibi, a Christian farmhand. In addition, three men, including two Christian brothers who were accused of blasphemy, were killed in police custody.

The report showed that violence in various Muslim sects resulted in 418 deaths and 963 injuries, and as repression against religious minority communities continued, 73 people committed suicide.

A bizarre and painful form of population control. Condoms should be readily available everywhere in places like that. It's a region, similar to the entire middle east, which is waaaaaaaay beyond its carrying capacity for this one species.

Only a religion as insecure and paranoid as Islam would kill people for not agreeing with their dogma.

It's a death cult going through it's own dark ages, which it may take centuries to grow out of. The best that can be done is seal the borders and let them get on with it. The only practical consideration is how best to stop the contagion spreading, as that is the most dangerous part of the meme.
