BANGKOK, May 20 -- Police arrested a drug dealer with 400,000 pills of methamphetamine in Chiang Mai and seized some 70,000 meth pills and 4.5 kg of crystal methamphetamine ‘ice’ in Samut Prakan in a separate drug busting operation.

A drug dealer identified as Thanya Saeyang was arrested by Narcotics Suppression Bureau police at Chiang Mai while driving a pick-up truck on Ban Kaen Road in Doi Luang district.

Mr Thanya told police that he got the drug from an ethnic Hmong drug syndicate at Ban Mai Suksant in the northernmost province of Chiang Rai and delivered them to a network of customers in adjacent areas.

Meanwhile, police raided a room at Somboon Mansion at Soi Bearing, Samut Prakan and seized 70,000 meth pills as well as 4.5 kg of ice.

The drugs seized in the two operations have a total street value of more than Bt10 million.

The raid resulted from the investigation after a group of drug dealers escaped police arrest after setting alight their vehicle which carried drugs and firearms on the Bangna-Trat road on May 3. (MCOT online news)
