BANGKOK: -- The teacher at the centre of the Suan Kularb sex scandal will know within the week if he can ever teach again.

Investigations into the affair are ongoing but Dr Chaiyot a deputy at the Education Ministry has pressed the Teachers' Council of Thailand to complete their enquiries within the week reported Daily News.

Sarot Meephai, a biology teacher at the prestigious Bangkok boys school, has already been suspended. He is currently under detention in Bangkok Special prison as a criminal investigation progresses on charges of uploading obscene material. He was ordered held by a court until the 22nd when he will appear again.

The Teachers' Council has the power to revoke licenses in serious cases regarding sexual matters, drugs and gambling. If the license is revoked Sarot, 33, will never be able to teach again.

Suan Kularb Wittayalai, in Phra Nakorn district, is also conducting its own investigation that director Vithoon Wong-In has promised will be "full and proper with no favors shown". He had said last week that "everything would come out by Monday" but enquiries are still ongoing.

Key questions for the investigation are whether the evidence points to the teacher having affairs with students under 18 or not. Sarot has said that his sexual partners, originally displayed on a now close Twitter account, were all over 20. The investigators also want to know if he bought sex.

Bizarre case. One would think if they had irrefutable evidence that the teacher was fooling with students he would be charged and expelled already? He was claiming they were over 20YO guys dressed up in school uniforms. A bit like those places you see in Soi Cowboy or Walking Street with the name 'school' in them.

I would imagine if they were students from the school or other local schools there would be an investigation to identify them? Otherwise how can they know the truth?

News on this story all of a sudden got very quiet...I'm curious to see if original accusations are still accurate?

The world is watching. Again. Hope school rep is not priority. Set a precedent, no bs fines, magical "Y" to undo disgrace etc. Hope for a heavy hand from the law...

If indeed he is actually guilty of the accusations. Yes, of course.
