PHUKET: -- The Port area open-air plaza at the popular Jungceylon shopping mall in Patong re-opened to the public today (Aug 3) after officials conducted a final inspection led by Phuket Governor Chamroen Tipayapongtada.

Joining Gov Chamroen for the inspection was Thawee Homhoun, who is the Chief of the Phuket Provincial Office of Public Works and Town & Country Planning.

Also present were Kathu District Chief Sayan Chanachaiwong and officials from Patong Municipality.

The team, along with representatives from Jungceylon management, inspected the repair works carried out on support pillars that showed signs of crumbling early last month.

In press release issued today, Governor Chamroen assured that the area is safe and that the pillars had been strengthened and repaired appropriately. He also ordered all shops near the kiosk in The Port zone to reopen today.

Another patch up

Maybe the reason for concrete crumbling is due to poor quality with heaps of water in it & the fact that they have absolute zero knowledge of concrete cancer

Example is when you say rio is to be in the middle so it has enough concrete cover guess what the do - put steel cross ties in the wall where the steel will end up exposed until rendered

Only problem for me is Jungceylon KFC is right above this area (I do enjoy a bit of 'Finger Licking good' every so often - Original of course) Hopefully they open up elsewhere (not on beach rd again though as have to fart about with the one way system) over near middle rd jct of Sainam yen would be great, could then have the choice of Kentucky or Khao Man Gai
