Only 800 k's a year.....surely it's cheaper to use a taxi, isn't it?.....lol

i only bought it cause when we had our boy [dog] he loved to go out in the owners car. so he still likes a ride.

plus its 5times a yr.to immigration.

got fed up with being ripped off by the dealership.

What was you paying at the dealership and in what way were they ripping you off? I'm just curious.

first it was the rep, who said i will get you cheaper insurance,he did by cutting down on the cover, found out a yr.later when we should have had a discount, but it went up 30%.

then the first service 1,000kiloms.they said the oil needed to be changed and the air con needed to be cleaned.

then they tried it again at a different garage[same dealership.]

then again it was sent out of the sevice area with a SCREW in the tyre but didnt tell us till we were about to drive away, yet during the service we were sat in reception the whole time.

Forgive me for my ignorance meatboy but I can't really see what the garage has done wrong to get you so riled.

The rep did exactly what he said he could do and got you cheaper insurance.(You get what you pay for in this world so obviously if it was cheaper then the cover would be different).

The first 1000 km service oil change should be the most important to do because of the minute metal flakes or whatever that are shed by the crankshaft and bearings in a new engine that is just running in.

And they don't check the tyres for screws etc. so if the car was driven out and an observant worker then spotted a screw and instead of saying "Mai bin lai" he decided to do something about it, I see that as being good service not bad.

No comment on the air con or air filter because would need more info but apart from that I can't see the problem mate. The benefit of using a main agent is they have training courses on the specific make of cars and they also have all the proper equipment which in this day and age of having onboard computer systems running the fuel injection systems etc. is important. Also they can just plug in their equipment and the cars diagnostic computer will tell them any problems.

Of course the bad thing about a main agent is the fitters are just fitters and they are simply trained to fit new parts and have no interest in repairing stuff any more.

Anyway you obviously need to have trust in the garage so if you have lost that then you need to look elsewhere but think hard before you use an independent.

That isn't entirely true.

I bought a dealership (Toyota)  motor with a standard GPS fitted. I asked for the sunscreen tint film to be fitted to the windows which was an extra. My GPS didn't seem to work correctly thereafter. I kept going back to try to sort out the problem. The dealer couldn't sort out the problem. I then get in touch with Toyota (Bangkok). They weren't really interested but they asked if I had sunscreen film fitted that was GPS compatible. What?

I get a car with  fitted GPS and I get the dealer to fit sunscreen film on the windows and I'm supposed to be the one that has to check that the screen film is compatible? That's coming from Toyota Head Office.

Anyways I find that the dealer fitted screen film was not compatible. I ask the dealer to fit the correct one. They said no. They don't stock screen  that is compatible with GPS and I'm told to go get it fitted somewhere that has it. That is after being told they will fit it but they have to wait for it to arrive from America which would take 4 months.

Cutting the story short I went to a car accessory shop and had it fitted. My GPS has worked correctly ever since. If you're having GPS problems check your sunscreen film first. I recommend  'Crystaline'. Do not trust Toyota dealers.

So are you saying this was a problem with the fitters (who I was referring to) or the stores that supplied the incorrect film in the first place, because I assume the fitting was ok. i would like to bet that it was not even fitted in that garage anyway because they normally ship the cars out to their body shop or a specialist for that to be done, the normal fitters don't do it. Admittedly someone somewhere should have known about pairing a special film to a gps unit but you didn't, I didn't and I bet hardly anyone knew until you posted this so maybe the fault is with the gps manufacturers. Hardly a valid reason to encourage people to not use every Toyota dealer.

No, the original fitting wasn't okay. The fitters left dirty oily boot and hand prints in my car and I had to complain about that.

Whether the dealers got an agent in to fit the sunscreen I don't know but they and the agents, if they used one, must know about the GPS situation. After all the staff must have been on 'training courses'.

Why do Toyota dealers not stock GPS compatible screen when they know full well there'll be a problem? In fact the dealers didn't know about the compatibility. It was a guy from Toyota head office that told them why  GPS's malfunction.

Just out of interest to others. The non compatible screen contains metal. The metal is in there to absorb the heat. That metal is what interferes with the GPS and mobile phones etc. See below.

  • Quote

    • A clear breakthrough in automotive window films. The Crystalline Series rejects more heat than many dark films without changing the appearance of your vehicle, making it the superior choice for comfort.
    • Light tint rejects up to 60% of solar energy and up to 97% of heat-producing infrared rays for the ultimate in comfort.
    • Designed to enhance your view by allowing visible light into your vehicle while keeping heat out, so you can see clearly and safely.
    • Non-metallized window film lets you stay connected with mobile devices, GPS or satellite radio reception without interference.

Me and the missus made 3 claims last year. Our cover this year went down. Meatboy shop around.

While I'm on. If you have an accident and you need engine parts replaced you are not covered under your insurance for fluids and lubricants. Before Toyota would release my car I had to cough up 1,600 Baht, payable to them direct, before I got the keys.

Show me where I made that quote in any of my posts. You won't. Please don't put words, I didn't write, as a quote I made. You're making yourself look silly. What I actually said was "Do not trust Toyota dealers".

Come on mate, loosen up, I am just trying to point out that your experience does not mean all Toyota dealers are the same, after all why put that if you were not trying to impress your opinion on others. And I admit that I used different words to yours but meaning exactly the same because you just said dealers without specifying any particular one therefore meaning all. That's as I see it anyway.

OK, having said that, I don't want this getting heavy so I apologise if I have said anything wrong (I don't think I have but anyway) and I am now retiring from this conversation. Have a good night.

Sorry. I assumed that as I mentioned the car was only 2 years old and that I mentionef the word "dealership" it would be obvious that I meant Mazda.
