DLT opens new driver's license service point

BANGKOK, 14 February 2017 (NNT) – The Department of Land Transport (DLT) is increasing its driver’s license service points across the nation as part of a push to better serve the public.

DLT Director-General Sanit Phromwong unveiled the latest service point at Building 4 of the DLT’s headquarters, saying that the new office has reduced the time needed to acquire an international driver’s license down to less than 20 minutes. Service fees for international licenses are 505 baht and the cards are valid for 1 year. In 2016, up to 37,396 people requested international licenses. Over 40,000 are expected to seek licenses this year.

On the installation of GPS tracking systems on public transport vans, which has a deadline of March 31, 2017, the DLT head said up to 30 percent of a total 5,000 transport vans serving interprovincial routes have completed the installation.
