  1. Guys. FORD Thailand have closed the case. They say that warranty will take off the corrosion. The pre damage is down to the dealer. Not their concern. I will now go to the Thai Consumer Board and take legal.

Thanks for all the useful comments guys and those who negatively posted lets hope it never happens to you.

Can the moderators now close this post down please?

  2. On the MUDFLAPS one screw is missing, the other screw/bolt is rusty.

On the comment about an office job. Yes it was. General Manager Aftersalesc looking after 18 dept in Scotland with over 300 staff. I saw plenty of front line service, parts and body shop tasks.

Yes, it is buyer beware but I still don't know of people who use torches to check the underneath of vehicles upon delivery.

My wife and i were excited to get this Ranger. I never had it ramped and highlighted.

  3. I WOULD NEVER DESTROY MY VEHICLE. That would be a supreme act of stupidity. Good news but kiss goodbye to 1.2 m baht. Best keep hammering Ford and going the legal route. Please post my video on as many sites as you can so many people can see what a rotten vehicle it is under the car. I just want Ford to replace the vehicle, (because of rust on a 4 month vehicle will only be bad luck in 5 years time). Same as the faulty paint work. It will only get worse and worse. Needs getting rid and replaced.

  4. I purchased a New Ford Ranger Wildtrack from Ford Roi-Et 4 months ago. Prior to delivery the dealer, (or Ford) damaged the vehicle and repaired it and then sold as new. There is paint spray all over the underside and wheel arches. Worse still the chassis is showing signs of rust / corrosion. Two paint blisters have appeared on the hood / bonnet. The paint is so soft you just touch it and it marks. The dealer refuses to do anything stating all this is normal. Defective paint, corrosion and selling a damaged car as new. NORMAL? Ford customer services have been useless in dealing with this and just ping pong me back to the Roi Et Ford dealer. The dealer has now blocked me on Facebook, SMS and removed reviews from their website. The dealer was quick to take my 1.2m baht but now wants nothing to do with rectifying matters. SEE VIDEO BELOW.

My advice - avoid Ford Roi Et at all costs. Don't rely on Ford Customer Services. (We have the support of the Thai Consumer Board and are taking the dealer and Ford to court.)

Letter sent to Ford Customer Services - No reply.

Subject: Dissatisfaction with Ford Ranger from Roi Et Ford

I have been trying to resolve the issues with my brand new Ford Ranger Wild track for over 5 weeks and all that happens is that Ford Roi Et and Ford Customer Services, (sic) keep bouncing me back from each other. Nothing gets done.

I have made a video of the paint and corrosion issues on my truck. The main points are:-

    1. Roi Et damaged the truck before delivery and failed to tell me. There is orange paint over spray all over the underneath / underside / wheel arches of the truck. THIS IS NOT A NEW TRUCK – it is a damaged truck, (that no one would buy if they new) sold as a new truck and full up money. 1.2 m baht.

    2. Corrosion or rust has developed on the chassis of the vehicle. This is not normal after 4 months

    3. Paint is falling off the chassis of the underside

    4. The load liner fixing screws for tying things down are coming loose – cross threaded?

    5. The screws on the Ford mud flaps are falling out

    6. THE PAINT IS SO SOFT IT DAMAGES EASILY

    7. Two paint blisters have developed on the hood suggesting rust / corrosion from the inside out

    8. The rear bumper is misaligned

In addition to all this when every I complain Roi Et Management refuse to speak to me.

    1. They have never supplied my 5 year free service plan documents

    2. They never carry out a vehicle health check

    3. They put white paint on the drivers seat

    4. They never wash the vehicle

    5. I ORDER GENUINE FORD WHEEL ARCHES AND THEY FITTED UGLY NON FORD ONE of which the alien keys holding them on are coming loose. I DREAD TO SEE THE PAINT WORD UNDER THE WHEEL ARCH COVERS.

I cannot think of a worse dealer experience and I ran 3 Ford dealers in Cambodia, 5 dealers in the UK and have managed many other dealers worldwide and as said – I have never found a worse dealer.

You, Customer Services, do nothing and refuse to give names of people who might assist me. No service manager Ford Thailand, no Sales manager or Customer Service Director. Everybody in Ford is running away from this matter.

I purchased a NEW TRUCK – Ford made a truck that corrodes in 4 months, has paint that is too soft and the Roi Et dealer damages the truck, sells  it as new and try’s to hide the matter.

I demand a new truck, undamaged. I paid for a new truck. I want what I paid for.

The video will be posted on YouTube and the Ford Ranger Club. I will make a banner of the photographs and stand outside you building in Bangkok unless someone phones me and seeks a solution. Watch media for video in every possible place.

I have been polite, never raised my voice, nor used bad words but my patience is wearing thin.

SOLVE THIS ISSUE PLEASE or just say no and I will see you in court.

Be warned - avoid Ford Roi Et. See YouTube  https://youtu.be/LAQV2F3AXC8

    2) Another job is available in Chaturaphak Phiman, Roi-Et. teaching S & L.

    Regards - John.

  6. I've never had a co-teacher in any class that I have taught. I was assigned a co-teacher for Information and Guidance lessons but she never turned up. She did however ask for my lesson plans and then promptly used them in her solo classes!

Any isolation does work as Scott suggests. I have found jumping in the corner works. Just jump up and down for two minutes stops them talking real fast...especially if you do it at the same time to encourage them to jump higher than the old man!

Even at a young age face works. Jumping loses face. Face loss stops talking. Not always but 80% of the time.

    Good luck and have fun.

Have a nice day. Regards John.

  7. Dont worry about their starting salary. By the time they reach 30 they will be on about 43,000 + 12,000 if they are a specialist...say teach English.

I know many specialists, got the degree, MSc in English etc but can they speak, er NO. Good grammar but poor speaking skills. So cheer up. 8,000 baht will soon change with each passing year. Then they just wait to retire on a fat pension. Tell them to look forward to the nice house and car plus all the hidden perks. Life's good as a teacher!

I like Steve Jobs' quote at the end. It's the humanities and liberal arts that draw us out to think about what being fully human means. Technology can and does assist that, but although new technology creates new communities (like ThaiVisa, for example) the deep human issues are not technological.

The unthinking opportunism of Pheua Thai's plan to dole out tablets is obvious and has been discussed extensively on another thread.

I am concerned with the editorialist's throw-away line that "It is no secret that one of the major weaknesses of our school system is the quality of teachers coupled with large class sizes".

It's not the "quality" of the teachers that is the problem. The teachers comprise large numbers of people with a wide range of "qualities". The problem is more likely that they are inadequately trained and are provided with inadequate support, insufficient resources and minimal ongoing professional development. Furthermore, they are disempowered - unable to challenge existing conditions and structures - they have no voice, no unions or staff associations and no leadership that seriously asks for their input. Most of them, no matter how intelligent, capable and conscientious they are, are forced to be drones. They can only do the best they can under very difficult circumstances.

If teachers are not able to do the job the community wants, the community has to ask what's stopping them? It's too easy to blame the victim.

Very good analysis. I'd add that the teachers also get an insultingly low salary. It's never going to be easy to attract talented and caring teachers for 4 - 5K baht per month. Some in rural areas probably make even less.

So true, there are several well qualified teachers in my extended family, two have graduated within the last three to four years and have the new 5 year education degree. These two are on 6,400, and 6,800Baht a month.

They have both mentioned that their teachers union representative told them the new 15,000 starting salary will not be applicable to new teachers (they know it won't be applicable to those already in service) because of some complex regulation which puts teachers into a different category.

Both are also annoyed that they get continuous push to borrow money from various teachers credit facilities. Both realize that getting into debt is unwise and should be avoided. They say the 'push' to borrow money is quite strong. One described it as 'if your haven't borrowed from the teachers credit facility then your not a real teacher'.

Both are desperately searching for other work, because of the low salary and because older teachers don't accept 'new kids with new knowledge'. In one case the headmaster tasked a couple of new graduates to make a presentation to the older teachers about new education theories and how to generate participation in learning activity (often called project based learning). Nobody turned up and some older teachers told the head they were insulted and demanded the head promise such a presentation would never be organized again.

Both new graduates have mentioned that in many cases the older teachers will not be able to do any form of 'coordination' between class room lessons and what might be available on the tablet PCs that kids will have. The older teachers simply don't have the IT knowledge to do this, plus they don't have learning theory knowledge to understand what might underly the various websites which might be useful as reinforcement activities.

It's gunna be a tough road.

  8. A school director friend of mine has an immediate vacancy for a NATIVE SPEAKER who can teach English to students aged 12-18 within the gifted programme. The previous position holder suddenly returned to the USA due to a serious family illness. These things do happen! Nothing wrong with the school etc.

The pay is 35,000 baht per month for 18 periods per week, (55 minutes each). The contract is for 12 months which basically means paid holidays!

The position is 8kms outside of ROI-ET.

Usual requirements - BA / BSc or strong candidate with a TEFEL or CELTA. The school assists with visa & Work Permit etc. If you are interested please PM me or email me. My email address is listed in my Thai Visa profile.

Another school, about 30 kms outside of Roi-Et is looking for a Native Speaking PHYSICS teacher. Great school that already employs an English, American & NZ teacher. So you are not alone. Roi-Et, a lovely town, it is a 45 minute bus journey away. The school town has all the usual things like 7eleven, bars, resturants so it is not hicksville. I know the School Director here as well. Nice guy!

No time wasters please. These are two real jobs that I am helping my School Directors friends fill. I'm not an agent, don't get money for filling them. I just assist my wife's Thai friends who just happen to be School Directors. Both my wife and I teach in Roi-Et City.

If you are keen I can get you working next week!

    Regards - John.

  9. Merlin - If you are looking for a teaching job in Thailand I can assist you. My friend, a School Director, in a town 8 kms outside of Roi-Et, is looking for a native speaker who can teach "speaking & listening + grammar" to students aged 12-18 in the Gifted programme. The hours are 18 periods, (55 minutes) per week and the pay is 35,000 THB per month. If you are interested then please PM me or email me. My email address is shown in my profile.

The position has an immediate start. The previous holder had to return to the USA owing to a serious family illness.

    Regards - John.

    Dear Ajarn "Steven",

Wondering if you could assess my relative value in the teaching market. I have no TESL certificate (although I have taken a course -- alas, complications set in), but I have an MA in the ever-useless discipline of sociology. I don't hope to land anything actually teaching sociology (been out of it too long), but what would my prospects be in the TEFL market?

    Thanks.

  10. PM, or better still, email me and I am sure that I can assist you.

    regards - John.

Some of the best candidates are over 45. You lose out on a lot of qualified candidates. Sad..

hi, its only a guide and not written in stone, so please feel free to pm me if you are interested. obviously experience counts.

    :D

    thanks.
