  1. This guy SHOULD be locked up...hopefully for several years. He is not representative of British people who work hard and live good decent lives. Really, dressing in black, branding a stick and being a plastic red shirt is madness. Brits have no room to get tied up in politics. We are guests and not red or yellow shirts. Bang him up and throw him out. Regards John.

  2. To close the UK embassy sends the wrong signals. Dont see Red Shirt bashing down the walls so why panic? Did they close embassies down in the UK when they had the poll tax riots? Dont think so. It is just an over-reaction. Keep it open, operate as normal and if lives get threatened, (Westerners) then maybe react. Bangkok is huge and the riots / trouble is limited to a small section of the city. My wife and I walked through the Red Shirt camp. Spoke to loads of peaceful thai red shirts. I suggest round up the trouble makers, hold elections and settle down. Trouble is absolute power corrupts absolutely. Old saying but fits the politicians world wide. Regards John

  3. Johhny - dont despair. I live in Roi-Et and have been a life long blue nose B'ham fan. Blues fans can be found world wide and unlike West Ham fans we dont live in the past. We know our form historically has been poor. They are a poor team but they are OUR poor team. We stick with the blue boys through hel_l and high water. Anyway our home form 2009/2010 has been good, we will finish 9th and next year we have money in the bank. Players will come and i dream of the day we finish above Aston Vermin. Last match against the Vermin was a lucky win for the rats from Aston. Come on lads and "keep right onto to the end of the road". Regards John

  4. Pathum Thani Clash: Soldier Suffers Serious Gunshot Wound to Head

The face off between the red-shirt protesters at Thai Market in Pathum Thani Province and soldiers continue.

Reports have indicated that both the red-shirt protesters and soldiers have been injured during the clash which broke off earlier today.

INN has also reported that one soldier has suffered a serious gunshot wound to the head.

red or yellow...pink, white or any other colour you mention is not important. Violence is violence and both red shirts and yellow shirts are to blame. Get together and talk. Bullets no good, verbal is good.

  6. The question is how many other mules were on the same plane? Did they give up 3 kilos to get 3 or 4 other mules through? At $1000 walking street would have been a better option! Poor lass - life gone. Even she does not get a bullet in the back she will get 25 years plus in really horrible conditions. Some would say she deserves it...maybe but i feel it is the organising gangs that are the real issue. Without gangs mules would not exist. Bullet for the gang but hey their tracks are well covered. "there for the grace of god go you or I". We will never know what drives a poor girl in some tin shack in Manilla to risk all. Regards John

  7. The common view is dump her. Makes sense to me. Why would anyone want to drug you? There must be a motive and i would guess render you "out cold" and rob you via the true "boyfriend" or even pick a pocket herself. You can take the girl out of the bar but you can never take the bar out of the girl. I am sure she is nice. Enjoy the meals, the roll in the hay but once she steps out of line...that it drugs you or tries to - DUMP HER. Move on my friend. Find a true decent lady and enjoy life. Can not be fun watching you back, drinks, food, valuables etc. So DUMP HER NOW! :)

  8. Free enterprise is the key. If a Farang actually gets folks to have their hair cut and charges farang prices then good luck to him. I go to a thai guy, my wife translates and he does a good job. All for 60 Baht with a shave, hair wash, head massage, clean up the ear, eyebrows & nose hairs. Would i pay a farang to do a basic cut and charge me £10 - no way. Might go for a Farang to design a house but then again designs are 2 a penny. When in thailand i am happy with the thais to do the daily work like service the car, cut the lawn etc. Just my view guys. Regards john

  9. My wife is an English teacher and would be delighted to assist with the transfer. Her son is a Police Inspector and i am sure he could "smooth the waters" etc. Where are you in Thailand? If you want to explore this PM me and i will put you in touch with my wife / your wife. Dont use agents...they charge the earth. So far we have managed 3 UK visa's, Thai Marriage Certificate without the need fort a single agent. Regards John.

  10. It makes no odds where the couple are from. Parents will always have their own ideas. I married a thai teacher of 47. I'm 57. My wifes parents are both dead so no MIL issues. Her children, 1 x Police Inspector (he was OK) & 1 x Economist (Lady no happy) were at first not for the marriage. After several trips from the UK and meetings they came round. my wifes family are all well-off professionals in education. Not a hint of disapproval from any. Far from it...they encouraged us to marry. There was no gold gifts, just a decent reception and honeymoon. Since then the family have encouraged me to move to Thailand. Even though i would earn far more in the UK! Money is not this families driving force. Love seems the key. Even when the daughter married the family asked for no money. They funded the whole thing! My wife has even secured me a teaching job. Pay's poor, 35k a month against £5K in the UK. All the family want is me to live with my wife and carve out a life together. No talk of buying a big house, new car. The guys are right. Issan girls can be loving, kind and it is a shame some folks seem to have this view on Issan ladies. By the way my wife could easily find a thai guy of equal professional standards. She is quite a stunner and well established. All here teaching friends are equally keen to meet a normal good farang. I do accept some girls on thai love links are a bit effy but i bet there are loads of decent honest hard workers out there. Keep at it and charm the MIL. Your lady sounds nice. Good luck to you and your future wife. Regards John.

  11. Has any Brits out there purchased IP address hiding sofeware so that their location does not show Thailand but it disguised as being in the UK? If so does it work and can they then access BBC iplayer, C4 on demand, ITV player etc? I am planning a move to Roi-Et in the next two months and would love to still access BBC online. Also have any Brits shipped a container with household effects to Issan. If so what were the costs & service like? Regards John.

  12. PB Air is OUT OF BUSINESS for good. Currently, no other carrier has picked up the Roi-et route. Nok Air has picked up Sakon Nakon & Nakon Phanom, but those airports are much to far away. I believe KK is the only alternative for now.

Tims Bar, Next to 101 Bar on the Roi-Et Lake, has all thye details of Tristar Car Rental. The rental company is run by a Norweigen Guy called Stig. Both Stig and his Thai wife speak fluent English. Cars are nice, clean and new. Bit pricey though. Supply and demand i guess. Personally i rent from Fast Car in BKK and drive to Roi-Et. Only takes 6 hours and cheaper than flying. Taking the plane to KK or Udon involves 2 hour check in, hour flight, arrivals and 2-3 hour drive to Roi-Et. Better to drive to Roi-Et from BKK. Dual carriageway except 20kms. Car Hire very cheap from Fast car and they drop off and pick up at BKK Airport. Any way good luck all those Roi-Et car hirers. Regards John.

  13. Dont know the answer but i bet a dead bait would get results. Also a monster boilie would work. Fish eat and if these baits work on the commercials they must work on the river. I will be moving soon to Roi Et and would love a pioneering trip to the river. Contact me anytime if you are up for it. regards John.

  14. The best way to fish the lake is to avoid the commercial companies. They charge the earth and provide poor service and time. All they do is take your money, provide a local guide...who is usually very good, and sit back and let the local do all the work. Not bad work if you can get it me feel!

The best way to fish to hire a guide DIRECTLY from the lake. Mr Boonsong is best - He speaks fair English and works so hard.

Avoid the chalets. Yes you can hire for 12 hours at a time but expensive. Ask Mr Boonsang to take you to the public areas where the big carp are. Along the public grantry i think 3rd position down.

The guide will bottom fish. Best rod about 7 foot uptider. Seems small but when the fish try to get under the boardwalk the pressure to pull them out is there in plenty. A bigger 10 foot rod lacks power. Use a big bait runner loaded with 30 - 35 lb line. The shop sells all the gear but better to buy in BKK.

There is a man called JEEP, nickname Mr Longhairman. He has top class gear from BKK. Try and see his and copy. Great angler.

Botton fishing wil produce the biggun's close in. No more than say 10 feet from the fishing position. Let the guide do the work. 1000 baht and well worth it. Surface fishing by cashing out at say 50 yards at 5-8 foot sliding floats get a bite a chuck for Meakonk Cats 10-15 kilos. Botton fishing gets the big boys 40 kgs plus.

Email me anytime and maybe we can share the guide one weekend? Also exchange photos of my cats 40kgs plus.

    Regards - John

  15. Importing a car will be like going through hel_l, don't do it!

Sell the MGB in the UK and buy one here.

Do you like the MGBGT? I have one for you. In great condition.

    Mail: << Use PM >>

I would love to buy one here. Can you send photos Please describe the car, age, condition, miles / kms, trim inside, colour etc. Are you in Pattaya? I am in Roi-Et but could drive down etc. Regards John.
