  1. Well when they do start running the country from the "7" it might actually work better than it does now, until they realise that 7/11 is not a Thai Invention then they will probably ban them, cant have any farang entity being succesful unless a Thai thought of it owns it or somehow making money from it ! Its Just got to Be Thai :jap: !!!

Personally i think the post that refered to "Stupid Monkey Country" said it best !

  2. Yep, the longer i live here the more i seem to want a crack down on drivers and vehicles by the BIB ! I would never have thought i would want to see the hard core road rule enforcement like the western countries more geared to increase collection of money than actually controlling behaviour of motorists.

I was looking forward to driving and riding around Thailand without stressing about points loss and fines but now i seem to think its very much needed here and it seems to be public transport vehicles are the worst.

Seriously they need to really start some form of licencing education and more enforcement of road rules!

I thought id never see the day that i wanted to see More Policing ! :ermm:

  3. Dont know about you but the symbol " usually refers to Inches and if its after a number and or fraction one assumes its a measurment and being stamped on a PVC pipe i came the the conclusion it was refering to some sort of dimension of the pipe. Usually world wide they use the OD for PVC and can't see why this 3" OD pipe is clearly labelled 2 1/2" , and the next size up had the OD of 3 1/2"and was similarly labled 3" ??? Same thin wall pipe no dimensions inside or out had anything to do with the stamped measurement on each of the corresponding pipes, thats why my conclusion is the pipe was Stamped in correctly, no doubt someone was guessing the diameter when fitting the stamp scroll to the machine at the factory !

Ive taken a photo so you can see the markings and with my ruler not much help as it was too hard to get the angle showing the measurment correctly but i can assure you its 3 Inch pipe, just lucky i checked before i dragged it home ! Just somthing to keep in mind when buying this pipe, I also have 4" pipe learly labled 4"and it is 4" OD but different maker !

  4. Hi all , Id just like to post about my new set up im trialling up here in issan , i have a background in Aquaculture and Hydroponics in Australia and after realising how poor the soil is here it prompted me to do a small scale set to feed the family and maybe even some left over to trade with local village shop owner. My design incorporates Auquaponics system which for those that dont know is basically using the filtered fish waste to feed plants in a hydroponic system, there is a few reasons why i have chosen to use Aquaponics to feed the System rather than the chehmical version they are No outlay on chemicals less residual salts build up and less calcification and of course the Misses loves to eat fish! I have also decided to use Aeroponics as the system to deliver the nutrient solution to the plants, this system is well know for being the most effective hydroponics system known with growth rates unmatched by any other system but it does come with its down sides. The system was totally designed by my self and just about everything was sourced locally and all could be sourced in Thailand its just i dont have the ability to get to Bangkok and have had difficulty locating the retailers for some items so i just imported a few items to save time.

the other reasons for choosing Aeroponics was because of heavy periods of rainfall i did not want to contend with flooding beds and tanks and like wise in the dry season water is relatively scarse where i am so this system does not lose much thru evaporation and is a full closed circuit only needing minimal top ups and limited water changes to maintain perfect quality and level.

Ill post more as time goes by once i have a chance to teeth the system, I have the first plants sprouting and have a few fish in starting the bacteria up before i buy the grower fish later next week. Its been quite fun project but i have one serious complaint Why the hel_l is all PIPE BLUE !!!! and why is my 3" pipe called 2.5" ! Im guessing it was stamped wrong at the factory because the OD is exactly 3" and the ID is stil much bigger than 2.5" just as well i take a small metal ruler with me when i go shopping !

Angiud Just go to the nearest pet shop and buy a PH test Kit there either the drops in a tube type or the little test strips they are all you need to get going and once you use them a few times and see the plants reactions youll stop using it anyway its only a guide and doesnt matter how much you spend on one they still are not deadly accurate! and really with PH you will never be spot on and if you ARE it will always change, your trying to get in the correct "range" you dont need decimal points for that !

I like your set up , please tell me thats your test resevoir and you are using a bigger one than that little brown pot!:D

Id like to hear about other peoples set ups in Thailand please post them !

  5. Hi , For aeration of water the use of Bubbles is not what airates the water as much as the action of the water being moved from the lower area of the vessel and introduced to the surface to make contact with the air, this is basically what air bubbles from airstones are doing circulating the lower water to the top and then the cycle of aeration is performed you can do this several ways some more effective than others and some more efficient . Air Bubble System using an air blower pump or smaller scale diaphram pump is genrally only used for indoor tanks and holding ponds it is not as efficent for large outdoor ponds and dams this is usually better done by a paddle airator. Pumping the water from a suspended pick up and blasting thru a wide jet on the surface is very effective and probably the best system to use but its expensive to run therefore not very practical, you can pump the water over a passage of rocks on the bank laid out over a pond liner in a spoon drain leading back into the pond or dam which will also eliminate alot of nitrogen and amonia build up using the good bacteria growing on the rocks but this system loses alot of water through evaporation must run continuos or with very little down time and so its not suitable for most low profit farms. If your able to turn water over by any means it will make a massive difference and it will reflect in your growth rates and genral health of the fish.

With regards to aquatic plants they do bring in high levels oxygen into the water but you need that many plants to do this in a pond or dam you wont have much room left for fish but everything helps and plants are prettty much free so if you go about combining a few different ideas you will see positive results. One farm i know in Queensland keeps their plants in netted off areas arounf the banks with smaller walls so they can be maintained when the main dam is drained for desilting and cleaning. the nets stop the fish from eating the plants and water quality is much improved, you can also use this method for growing duck weed to supliment the diets of omnivorus species by haveing a few netted off areas near banks with duckweed prootected from fish and then simply scooping out a few scoops to the fish and leaving enough to reproduce again floting weed is very good for extracting nitrogen but if its let go with also deplete oxygene thats why in the nets you have control over the weed.

there is alot more to this subject as you will find out but its not hard just takes time to get the feel for it.

    Cheers

  6. ;)The First Hi Speed Train in China was designed iin Germany i wonder how similar the new Chinese Designs look under under the Hood ! Ive been to the China Hobby Expo in Beijing and Shanghai they are affectionately known as the Copy Shows ! They may well have good designers but they have far more Reverse Engineers than designers !

What courses are you studying in university Zhang Kin ? "Oh Reverse Engineering":jap:

  7. So let me get this straight its only UK overstayers going to jail ??? LOL gotta love all this crap about nothing must be no news in Thailand Again if this is whats hitting the top of the pops this week , How bout some stodgy monks buying mercedes benz or mahouts being band or rip off taxis oil spills in fuket or nuclear power plants the hub stuff or top ten ??? Surely Thailands not the hub of arresting Poms at the border as well:rolleyes:

  8. :jap:GPS Systems are now the main way transport vehicles are monitored and also a great aid in keeping track of many things not jjust the speed given the relative cheap instalation cost of these devices over complex dated tachograph would be the answer but the driver is the concern here monitoring speed is one thing but reckless driving doesnt show up on most forms of vehicle monitors unfortunatly it usually shows up only in the statistics which is why we are conversing on this subject now.

  9. This is my biggest fear in thailand, Im in the north east flatlands IZZANNN and here i fear the PINK BUS if i see one in a car or on my motorbike i start to feel great fear and head for the side of the road ive never seen one going under 100klm and will over take anywhere ! Ive been a proffesional driver in Australia for the last 20 years and have had endure some pretty hectic stints interstate driving and ive seen some scary things but these guys are a disgrace ! I enjoy the fact police dont have speed cameras fixed or hand held in thailand part the reason i enjoy being here is the relaxed road rules and conditions compared to Australia but these guys and a few car drivers are seriously death on wheels ! I wonder how many laps of the car park you must do for bus licence here, lucky the trucks are over loaded and under powered or they would be in the same boat too ! I often thought it would be nice to see some nice big trucks working here in thailand but i shudder to think how some of these brainless <deleted> would go having 600 HP Kenworth in their control !

    FEAR THE PINK BUS !

  10. Something is best NOT to be made public (like the Kennedy assassination). DSI is wise to lock up the files and grant no access, as the truth about the army (guardian of the nation) murder its own poor & innocent citizen in cold blood, is not going to comfort the relatives of the death. Our sorrow have pass us already, there is no need to open up the coffin to remind us about our past. Also, it might produce evidence that the army was really present on the MRT track, which is not acceptable to CRES (despite having video footage). Let all sleep on it. The truth is of no interest to anyone who want peace.

Hello are you on this planet ? What on earth are you talking about ?
