  1. Local Tv (PPNews) have just showed the press conference the police called to show thiefs and stolen things.

The things was to much so that the press conference was done in the pedestrian walking street in front of Hua Hin police station.

As first they catch a third thief, another one guy looking 25/30 y.o. so it was a gang as they told.

The first guys was already jailed in the past because they found explosives (they talk about bombs) in his home in another province.

This looks a little not nice... if a 24 guy already went jail for to have bombs but he is already on the street againg to make robberies... how many time they give him to stay jailed? Just a few?

Or... he started very young and stayed years? Boh...

Hope this time they will loose the key.

    :jap:

  2. Update (last one).

This afternoon police called us to go in the station to place the report (first one report was not enough, boh...).

They also tell us that after this they need to come here to take some picture with the thief and his wife (she was with him).

Of course we asked to skip this but wasn't possible, this is the rule they told.

But they accepted do not enter inside the house in respect of the baby.

They arrived in two cars, with a senior official.

The thief is 24 but looks 40... the wife just 18... so sad about this :(

They bring him in front of the house with iron around the hands, taking picture in front of the gate (they told they entered from the front, crossing the gate) and on the back.

Was like an old movie where the hunter used to take picture with the killed lion... make me really sad for them.

Onestly am not happy knowing they will stay in the jail, but also i cannot hidden myself that we was lucky because we wasn't here.

Easy to imagine that with a couple of young robbers like them, armored, often drunk... first or late something more tragic would be happened... and better to know them jailed than to read on the newspaper someone else killed during a robbery.

This is the law, you can follow or not.

Sadly, but without it we will live in a jungle.

  3. Yes it is a good news to ear here not having(me included) that so big consideration about police enforcement.

    Upgrade:

The thief not really live so close to us, he live in Pranburi.

This make us also more happy... no one likes to suspect about the neighborgh i guess.

They arrested yesterday morning once he was going back home, still little drunk, after a new robbery.

Police find in the house a lot of goods coming from several robberies.

They suspect he is part of a big gang involved in more than 100 theft around Hua Hin area.

Also if they do not talk about this we understand they was already investigating on this guy (24 years old) and probably our report with a lot of details about the old sword he stole us was the right step to take him.

Yesterday a policeman come to our house to show us the sword and for to be sure it was that one.

They told us they find really a mountain of stolen things.

This people used to come in Hua Hin every day (and night) as a "normal" job...

They foun more than 10000 baht in coins (they stole also coins), 24 laptops, tv, stereos, hundred of pens (have to be also sick in the brain for to stole pens...), everything a house is fitted... they needed a truck for to bring everything to the station...

They also found a gun, of course he said was not of him but of a friend (ah ah ah)...:D

They are investigating about the gun, could be involved in some more crimes.

I suspect he will live in a cage for a while...

To know he have a gun, he also go robbering by day make the deep suspect he can be involved in some bigger crimes... but of course they don't say nothing about this because they are still working on the case.

That's all at the moment. And is not too bad.

    :jap:

  4. News...

Police called us this morning to say they already arrested the thief.

Actually he is in the Local Police Station for to be "asked" to tell who was with him (they are sure he wasn't alone).

They say us is a local who live not so far from us, they suspect he is involved in about 100 cases of house robbery.

My stolen sword was in his house, we have to go for to confirm is our things.

From what i understand he is not having a really good moment in the station at this moment

but am not disappointed by this, as no worried for him, sorry about this... :whistling:

So... Police do not work so bad sometime...

    :jap:

  5. Thank you, i will try Best Bean Coffe if around there.

Sad to see how restaurants here they open and close so easily...

we felt in love two years ago with Grandma's Papaya Salad for the good food well priced... but they already closed... after a few month they open in the same place a new restaurant, we tryed but nothing special. Already closed again...

Time ago we was used to go to Choom Talay... but also there last year we get very bad food...

We still like to go in You Yen, food is ok and they also start to offert a small selection of farang food from the next door cafè (owned by a very simpatic western guy).

Some time in Let's Sea (not too bad, very nice location if dont rain).

Never tryed Terrace 90 also if more than one told me they have very good desserts...

Passed in front of Mini Farm yesterday, looks nice and lot of positive reviews make me curious...

We like to cook ourself a lot so that sometimes we felt little disease spending a minimum of 1000 thb in two for to have a "ordinary" food... but for sure am me who am too much pretender ;)

    :jap:

  6. Arrived here on friday eve, the house was already setted and cleaned again by the relatives. so that i skipped the "bad feeling" to find the house raped...

As we thought they didn't stole nothing, just an old sword... probably if we do not see what happens they come back to finish the job the night later...

Police was already investigating and thanks to a friend there they looks fairly efficient... they suspect about the workers who are building a house next to us... already comes back two time (in civil wearing) to investigate them... we will see...

Today we went to the Police Station to put the report (for the insurance) and to take back a scuba torch and knife they take thinking was leaved by thiefs.

We have to change a window and improve gates where we don't have, to build a iron on the wall and also i need to improve the alarm system (also if my mother in law do not switch on properly it dont work as it happened... :realangry:)

We dont live in a project, is a town house in a quiet soi... but no one is in a safe place if they want to enter... i know...

The bad feeling is to think what can happen if they try to enter when am here... but better do not think at this or i will need to buy a gun  (not s difficult with chanote ot tabien baan)... because if they come when am abroad... is a problem... but if they come when am inside... is a bigger problem (also because probably are different kind oh thiefs...).

And my life, but mostly my beloved life is more important...

    :jap:

  7. Yesterday i found it in Villa, frozen from New Zeland (they describe as wild rabbit, but i think is a common rabbit, clear meat, not so big).

It is already in the pot, long cooking to make a special sauce for pasta and lasagne...

    Thank you!

  8. I think the best protection is to always have someone living in the house. Contact alarms on all entry points, large dogs and quality locks help too.

    For sure you are right.

My problem is i have no one can stay there continuely (or by night)... just the gardener who go 3/4 time per weeks...

I need to improve passive system... dogs could be good but not stayng there so long i don't like the idea to leave them alone for long time, also providing for someone to feed them...

  9. ^ Wonderful romantic atmosphere, good food, expensive...

    Thank you,

i will give them one more chance... bcz the last two time was so so after a long time of satisfaction, so that we thought they get problem in the kitchen... happy to know they are going better again.

  10. A few months ago thiefs entered in the neighborgh house from our balcony... may be we do not give to this the right attention, being sure they prefer to go there because we was protected enough...

    Big mistake!!

Tonigh at 4am (Italian time) we was awaked from the telephone call form Hua Hin... my mother in law told us the thiefs entered in our house :annoyed: .

Early morning, two days before coming there... make us little disappointed as you can imagine...

    They entered from back.

They broke the kitchen window and they force the iron who was inside the window (is that kind of lamella window you can open from inside turning the cranck...).

From there they went upstair looking for something precious (for them)...

From what we understand they stolen just a sword (looks antique but was a simple furniture objects)... probably they was looking for gold or money, that we never leave home.

We have an alarm system, but it wasn't working (i'll investigate on this once arrived, also if i already get an opinion...) :realangry:

All the doors are looked by security heavy gates...

All the window downstair also, except that one ( i thought it was enough... my fault also).

    So... the question is...

What do you provide for your home safety? Expecially for those who don't live there all the year?

I would like to improve everything, also knowing that if they want to enter they will (they do in the banks, an house cannot be safer...).

Probably the better idea is to complicate them the thing so much they go somewhere else (onestly if you asked me this yesterday i answered we done...)

Please let me know how do you do,

    Ciocco

  11. hope no one get offended if i ask "what is chicken bologna"... :whistling:

I know there is a huge literature on italian names given to not-real-italian-food... but chicken bologna is out also of my (large) understanding...

In Italy to cook meat "bolognese style" it mean something filled with cheese and ham (sliced), panfried, drop of white wine aand at least some tomato sauce... but is old fashioned coocking.

    Is it something like this?

    ciocco

The subject is the deli meat, not a regional style of cooking..

If i were from London may be reading "Chicken London" i'll be little curious if in my vocabulary this word have no meaning...

And also not being from Bologna (but not so far) this make me curious... i wasn't looking for recipes...

But thank you for to show me the way :jap:

  12. hope no one get offended if i ask "what is chicken bologna"... :whistling:

It is bologna made of chicken instead of beef or pork and IMHO tastes pretty much the same - it is usually a cheap coldcut, lunch meat.

Run of the mill everyday bologna is made of beef, pork, chicken & turkey and cereal fillers.

Beef bologna is made of beef and cereal fillers of course.

Ok, i seen also on wikipedia... a kind of imitation of the Italian Mortadella...

    Thank you,

  14. For the last few weeks I have been getting these little stings that are not painful but annoying when going in the ocean. Today it was too much and after 10 minutes left the water. Does any one know exactly what is in the water, some kind of microscopic lice or what ??

Could be "plancton" in the water.

Sometime during scubadiving i felt the same, always in waters with lot of plancton... :)

  15. Hello everyone, am back after a long time during while Elisa was born ;)

I'll be back in Hua Hin on next end of july with a "brand new" baby of about 3 months stayng about 40 days.

Considering Elisa will need to start to eat someething more than mom's milk we are tryng to understand if easy or not to find rabbit meat somewhere.

I didn't see it in Tesco at VM before... i know is not too difficult to find in Bkk /Carrefour...

Did you ever seen somewhere in Hua Hin Cha Am area?

    Thank you,

    Ciocco

  16. In Italy, as you know, we use a lot of olive oil.

The Extra Virgin usually it cost around 6/7 euro per liter in the supermarkets (big brands, not IGP Protected Geografic Indication)

IGP EVO oil usually do not cost less than 10/12 euro per liter. Local production, handmade, cold sistem also more expensive.

Of course it don't mean that if expensive it's good, if cheap it's bad... but for sure the price mean something... and for considering the tranportation cost, taxes, duties... for 380/400 baht we cannot expect too much.

I tryed Bertolli and onestly i didn't like it so much.

Also sure that the stockage temperature is a big problem.

I hope that frauds could be fined very strongly, to be a lesson to who want to be smart on food business...

  17. QUOTE anyone one know where can get Feta cheese?

Villa Market usually has feta cheese...

Del Casaro, Italian dairy brand with its factory in Hua Hin, has, among other fresh cheese and mozzarellas, a good feta cheese too, priced around 550 baht/kg.

    Good address!!

They also produce a very good Mascarpone Cheese to make a serious Tiramisù.

I visited the factory one years ago, very clean and good equipment inside, including theyr own analysis laboratory.

  19. Sorry...

as first consider that a good oil have to be "olio extravergine di oliva (extra virgin olive oil)" just "olive oil" is not enough... also if "olio vergine di oliva (virgin olive oil)" could be not too bad

also consider that in a good oil probably just the bottle it cost more than 50 baht...

  20. We use always the same taxi driver located in Bkk, he have a huge taxi (blus/red coloured) where we can find space for our heavy luggages.

We always was asked for 2500 (including gas and express way toll fees) but we often tip for the very excellent service provided, expecially going back.

Usually he come here from Bangkok to pick up us (sometime he was around here for job) at around 2 pm, driving to Bkk where we usually stop for a last dinner (and meeting with mom in law) until 7 or 8 pm. He wait us outside and then he drive us to the airport, sometime bringing back mom in law in the city.

A very "customized" service tailored on our needs, who sometime is 8 hours long... for the same amount, more tip.

    We are really happy about.

If u need the number, just ask...

  21. And he is not in charge. Watch your back mate. If he shouts fire, who knows which way the bullets will be flying. Certainly Thailand will be flying up the UN's list of oppressive regimes and even onto US sanctions lists.

PAD, the people who wrested power from the People on the premise they were too stupid to vote, through mob rule and army control by their elite backers are now coming back on to the street to ensure that the power is not returned through the ballot box.

Can I have accurate soundbite of the day for that please on the BBC?

Nice organisation and I am not surprised they are disguising themselves as multi colourted protesters.

Once the yellow shirts go on, then the army will split.

    Don't feed the trolls...

  22. Today, coming back for Bangkok to Hua Hin we seen a lot of smog on the orizon once approaching Cha Am (after the intersection to go Prachuap).

Along the street a lot of countryside was burned, still smoking, also hills with thousands of trees...

This a few kilometers before and after Cha Am...

No fire, just smoke, like if the big fire it was few days ago... also a heavy smell in the air...

    Someone seen the same?

    ciao,

    ciocco
