  1. That being the case, the so-called "Sandbox" racket should be terminated and the compulsary Covid Insurance premiums should be reduced for vaccinated arrivals.

Insurance premiums are always calculated based on risk. So consideration should be given to us who are vaccinated, because even in the event of being infected, the vaccinated individuals rarely require hospitalisation and recover quickly. This is now medically established.

  2. Thai police bid for positions in the Highway Traffic Police because they collect money from traffic offenders who don't want to pay fines.

You can bet the hotels participating in the Sandbox as well as the quaratines were NOT selected on merit, but were 'successful bidders'.

Who did they pay to? ????

    Who was running the aution?

  3. Well, forcing us into the "Sandbox" thing is a huge put off to me, and a waste of money.. I have zero interest in Phuket. I just need to return to my town in Nakhon Sawan province, where I can self isolate for two weeks. I have arranged for secure, private transport from the airport to my door, and friends will do my shopping for me. Where is the harm in that?

...except that the boss and his cronies won't make any money on that.

  4. I am stranded in the Philippines where we as foreigners have equal status on this issue. There was no adminastrative bull**** looking to see if I counted as a human being, or whatever. I registered with my age and residence, so I could be directed to the appropriate vaccination center. I even nominated my prefered date.

I received the reply within 24 hours and was scheduled for the first shot (AstraZeneca) within the week. The health checks prior to and after were impressive. It is a good feeling to be in a country whose government shows respect for us. Wonderful, in fact. ????

  5. Every tourist and/or retiree contributes to the Thai economy. But being forced to spend in Phuket before going elsewhere is nothing short of extortion.

I rent a premises in Nakhon Sawan province and the community where that is, needs the money every bit as much as the Phuket hotels that paid to be in the so-called "Sandbox". But of course, no one in government gets a kickback if my money is spent in a region that is really suffering.

  6. Phuket sucks.

I am not remotely interested. My home is in Nakhon Sawan province.

Tourism Authority: Wasn't it the tourism minister who wants to promote high class sex tours to attract and better quality foreigner? Or words to that effect?

(Off topic, but what sort of message does that send to the girls of Thailand? .. something like: "Don't waste time getting an education. Just shave your *******, head down town, and bring in the money. ????

  8. Not a Satang on anything until Prayut is thrown under a truck.

No, I am not advocating violence, or anything like that. I am simply stating one of my own conditions for investing in the Kingdom.

Then again, .. he may well choose to throw himself under a truck, when all the beans are spilled.

  9. This should come as no surprise because the majority of Thais are superstitious. Anyone hosting symbols and statuettes of Chinese wealth gods in their home, and actually talking to them, has given over some intellectual capacity to superstition. Superstitious people are easy to manipulate. The government knows this and milks it.

Thais are mostly unaware of Prayut's dilusionary agenda of reforming Thailand as a playground for the rich. To distract the common people he successfully employs fear mongering, placating the woes of their economic hardship, saying that it is for the good of the country. In doing so he entrenches xenophobia.

Their only hope is praying to that little statuette. The more they suffer economic hardship through Prayut's mismanagement, the more they will hate us. Very clever. ????

"Millions into the Thai economy" .. yes but not into the pockets of all the lawyers and visa agents and Immigration Police accounts, none of whom benefit directly from general revenue.
