  1. Yep, the spawn of some kind of frog, Had a big deposit of it on the side of a large pot of water in the garden, gradually shrunk and then hey presto lost of tadpoles swimming in the pot!

    TBWG :D

Thanks, I was hoping it was that and not some disaster in the making, a plague of cockroaches or something.

Better not tell the wife, why that's a whole meal you have just destroyed :)

She's got the gas on already - and a bit of Maggi - should be a treat no doubt! what is it the Yanks call it..."Smores" or something..Mmmmm can't wait!

  3. Alien invasion matey??? Wife been acting a little odd lately??? :) Either that or you have become God and created a new life form.......

The wife has been acting oddly since the day we met! But that has to be expected.

but besides her mental shortcomings -, this thing is pretty disgusting - I was bricking it taking it out of the water tanks in case it suddenley split and I was attacked by a million baby cobras or Jakep - there sems like there is nothing inside and it is just a sticky ball of goo! I think it must be from a frog (Any French people in my neck of the woods?) or a frothing Thai.

  4. I found this growing in my first water tank - before the filter system - it was about two inches above the waterline. When wet it resembles a bag of about 4 inches each way, it is as sticky as a hot marshmallow and will cling to anything.

The photos are after I got it out of the water tank, and it immediatley shrunk. I thought it might be something made from frog spit or similar.

There were no signs of eggs or anything else inside - just like a ball of snot!

The photos are on a leaf as it was the only way to cqarry it without it disintegrating.

    Frog, Spider or what?

  5. I was talking to the lady I know that runs the small shop up from where I live, she was looking for some advice about investing her 150 baht per day profit in an HSBC Offshore account - she thought the idea was so good, she went round and told all her rice farming friends, who reckoned if they all chipped in together they could start a fund immediately to help them in their older years with about 5 baht a week!

No longer the worries of old age - an investment offshore to make them all comfortable in those Winter years.

  6. Never, ever, ever, ever use DHL or UPS for anything!!!!!

Always use your local govt. mail, USPS or whatever and send it registered mail so you can track it.

Sending mail out the same way, registered, as EMS can be expensive too.

Agreed! If you use the local post here and the local post from your own country (in my experience I have never ever had a parcel, letter stopped) Use those bastards at DHL and you are going to get shafted big time!

The only time I had a problem with the Royal Thai Mail was about 12 years back, I stupidly sent my wife an air ticket to Hong kong with some Thai Baht that was left over from a previous visit - they opened the envelope - stole the Baht - but thankfully left the ticket...you live and learn!

  7. You would probably get a better response if you called 999 in the UK, failing that, you could always phone the BIB scum and tell them your house is on fire and that there is about 10 million Baht in used banknotes under the matress!

  8. Wait until your Superstar Status wears off - how many washing machines have you purchased thus far during your visit?

    lol don't understand this post?

I wouldn't even bother to try - there are so many Smart <deleted> on this forum that will try and pull down every post you make - take them with a pinch of salt!

The main thing is that you get on with the locals - better that than dead! Good luck.

They also usually like to respond with inane comments like "If you don't like it leave" etc.

A bit like a comatose Bomber Harris in an armchair pissed out of their skulls on Gin directing bomber command from a condo in Phuket! "dam_n Hun won't keep still the blighters - never fought fair the buggers!"

More to be pitied than scolded!

  9. Another all Thais are stupid thread.

I started work as a shop assistant when I was 14.

In those days there were no calculators or tills that worked out the change for you. It was either work out the sums on paper or in the head.

Since the introduction of calculators, adding machines and computers, people have become lazy and now totally rely on the micro chip instead or having to use the brain for arithmetic and spelling.

It`s the same the world over, not only unique to Thailand. Technology has turned people into blockheads as they consider that pushing a button or key is easier than thinking.

No it is not another Thais are stupid thread!

They are badly educated - simple as that - the OP simply posted an observation, and a very true one at that - who needs a Fuc?ing calculator to subtract 75 from 100???

Try going to the banks here - they count your money ten times before they hand it over.

The education system here is a joke, it is based on rote learning, like monkeys.

Imagine in MY days when we had to work out shit like Pounds Shillings and Pence! or Ounces, Pounds, Stones, Hundredweight, Tons -

We were working in Hexadecimal way before the computer!!!

Song Nung Song, Song Song See.....whatever!

  10. Between the Thai Customs and the shipping companies, they are nothing less than thieves!

I have a friend in China who "donated" a box of Company logo T-shirts and hats, these were intended to be give away free to the local kids that have formed a bike club and a learning/adventure group.

The value of the goods shipped from China was stated as 180US, and also stated as Not For Resale.

Between the Thai customs and DHL - they concocted a price for import of 17,000 Baht!

I was asked by DHL to send an E mail to confirm that it was a charitable gift - which I have now done 3 times, yet still they ask for 17K - I have basically told them to shove it where the sun doesn't shine!

Nothing but a bunch of crooked SCUM!

We were simply giving a bunch of poor local kids a set of matching hats and T shirts for their weekend bike rides and their once a year holiday to wherever - where they want to all dress the same and be a team! They have managed to secure donations from local firms - the odd bike here the odd this and that - as they really don't have any spare cash. This is how Thailand treats the poor - no wonder the Redshirts are so bloody popular! EAT THE RICH!

  11. What a waste of police resources but then again why not, people burn down the city, and the police turn a blind eye.

You seem to miss the point!

At least I can sleep soundly in my bed tonight knowing that I will not be attacked and assaulted by World Cup Gamblers! Well done to the Royal Thai Ploice - you truly are the envy of the world! Bless em!

  12. This one?

    strange-creature-found-01.jpg

    That one's easy.

    It's a pokemon.

Saw that photo last year - it is definately an Eeewok - probably landed it's craft here by mistake and found it couldn't breathe in the STENCH it found.

The guy with the goatie could be its father though!

  13. Did anyone see the Thai News today on Channel 3? about 6.30 am they carried this story about some UNKNOWN CREATURE discovered in Thailand - it actually looked like a Chihuahua - or some sort of Mexican Hairless dog - it was placed (DEAD) in an orange Bhuddha Bucket, and the locals were busy - as usual worshipping it!

It was being blessed at the time by monks - anyone see this or have info? It looked like a expletive deleted Eeewok or a Gremlin.

  14. What on earth are you talking about? :)

All I can understand is that you drank some "home brew", which was not to your liking.

I didn't bother checking google so can you please tell me (us) who Oz Clark & Jilly Goolden are?

Not Really, if you don't know then you don't know, it's not worth trying to explain. With all the adverts on Thai Visa these days, i.e more adverts than posts, does your avatar automatically generate those indian ads for the Indian lodge?

Some of these sites are pretty clever, I was on a site yeterday and in the corner of the screen (we get loads of bugs) I was pestered for half an hour by this dam_n little fly that kept crawling around the screen.

I eventually got off my arse and brought in a can of spray, and gave it a good dousing, only to find it was some idiots Avatar!!!!!

  15. Well, buy the nose on it, I would definately said it was not a Chardonnay, more like sewer gas.

This Thai bloke brought around a pineapple and two botlles of his "FINEST " Pineapple wine, my god, this stuff should be marked as hazardous.

They have no idea about sterilization, but I will reccomend it to his doctor, they don't even fit an airlock, they simply poke a hole in a bottle top to prevent it from exploding!

I tried a sample earlier and it was enough to make you wretch - apparently, it was one of his better vintages, it was 4 weeks old as opposed to 3, he reckoned you could keep it for a YEAR! he was proud of that.

Sadly, as the night progressed, and my beer supplies were becoming exhausted, I found the need to sample a little.

You really have to be careful when pouring as the one inch crust of dead baking yeast on the bottom of the bottle can somewhat spoil the clarity.

Anyway, after finding it a little on the "Sarsons " side, and rather unpallatable, I found it was almost drinkable if it was mixed 50/50 with Coke, and you hold your nose as you drink...sadly after barely half an hour, I can feel my bowels beggining to disagree...it almost sounds like thunder, do any Thai wines get allowed out of the country with a health and safety stamp?

  16. The armchair generals here are simply amazing - no other countries would shoot women and children? David koresh/USA, Londonderry... Bloody Sunday, Tiannemen, do please at least try and set the brain in gear before you post!

Then we hear all the crap about how the army are here defending the country, and peoples rights!

I thought the army was supposed to be here to defend against external threats? Like when the Japanese attacked in the North during the second World War ,and they surrendered within 4 hours! (But the Thais don't like to talk about that!!!!

Go look it up, the only victory the Thai army will ever have is over unnarmed civilians, wanke_rs!

Or in fighting, as when the then PM visited a navy ship off the coast of Thailand and the Navy held him hostage, so the army shelled the shit out of the Navy....yes, they are a great combined force.

The job of keeping law and order on the streets, I always believed, was a job for the police...where the fuc_k are they? This is not a job for the army, but the police don't want to know...and would you for 7K a month????

Putting that brain in gear ??

To start with, the state of emergency has been declared at which point it is the army's job as it would be in any other country.

Second, no Thai policemen makes only 7k a month - they get commission of some 40% on every ticket they write + all the bribes they collect.

Third, they are totally incapable of doing any riot control because there is no special trained riot police in Thailand - there probably will be after all this but not yet - the cops here are at the most traffic cops

Let's hope the army doesn't screw this one up and that the <deleted> is over in a few day's

They wouldn't have needed a stae of emergency if the fuc_king police did their job! So now tell me how much a Thai cop (a seargant for instance makes a month...because my wife has a one in her family) makes a month, never mind the % and the tickets and bribes, just tell me what an average cop gets paid?

basic low rank cops here are like waiters they get some 10k a month but make their real money from bribes and depending where they are stationed can make 20 - 30 k or more a month. The wife/family does of course not allway's know about this since he'll be spending a lot of that on the mia noi

Officers ... well, just look at the car park at any police station

OK. I'll settle on 10K a month, so are you going to risk getting your head blown off in all of this shit for that? Hence, no public order...then the army...what do the average conscript./retards get per month there...less than 7K...a lot less than 7K for the poorest of the poor, they basically get free room and board, but if they don't do what they are told then....................a bit different from the BIB! Plus they have a bonus of being allowed to have a GUN....imagine the Kreng Jai that can score with your mates! Imagine their talking point when they get a home leave after 20 years..."You should have seen the look on that 10 year olds 'face when I made him good "

  17. 'without probation' doesn't say that anything about bail. As usual the culprits will go to court, bail is set at 10 baht and they go free, bloody joke........

Bail is for when there is trial/verdict/sentencing set for a later date. It seems here that if they already received their sentences, then they must have been put through some super-expedited trial procedure. I'd assume then that their 6-month sentence would begin immediately. If they already confessed and pleaded guilty I don't think there is much chance of an appeal, though I'm no lawyer.

Let's not forget that these sentences were handed down based on State of Emergency Law which, most likely, gives Judges additional, and extraordinary, Judicial Powers, expedites the trial process and eliminates the need for bail postings.

Thai law is simple, if you plead not guilty your lawyer may ask for bail. They pleaded guilty and were sentenced during the arraignment which is normal for any lesser sentences. The yellows pleaded not guilty and it can take anywhere up to two years or longer before trial depending on the case. They are the video stars on Channel 7 and Channel 3 every morning, re enacting their crimes without even being brought before a court...pleading guilty... a plastic bag over the head must be great for clearing up crime!

The law is indeed simle here, contest it, you will get the maximum, grovel like a dog, make a police home video, say YES it was me, and get half the time...don't you ever notice how all of the people the police catch are already pleading guilty and making little movies? it hasn't even gone to trial yet! They know the score, better to agree to everything rather than try and prove you are innocent..
