  1. good post puwa. to add to this discussion: does anyone know of "flow tracks"? i mean offroad or singletrail but less steep and less rocks. i guess the terrain here just doesnt allow it. what comes closes to that in my opinion is the standard offroad just following the main road from doi pui national park all the way down to the lake

  2. recharged my sim card, now wanted to call the ais callcenter to buy a 1,5gb package and then put the simcard in the 3g stick, as i normally do. but the callcenter seems to be closed. i remember that there was a number wich autobuzs packages but i cant find it.

    can anyone help?

    thanks

  3. I don't really expect there will be a gratis month from AIS 3G despite their service being a bit hit and miss these past few weeks.

how bad was it? i might nget it these days, as my 3bb line is useless 50% of the time. problem is i need a very stable connection, doesnt have to be fast though

  4. i was driving around today and was looking for a road/dirtraod, and most likely a hiking trail to go up doi chiang dao, but i couldnt find anything. i followed the signs to the caves, even though i must have missed the last one as i never saw a cave, i followed the small road till i got to the stairs leading up to a temple, ehich was a very nice walk, the i followed the road where i turned to the temple, until i came to a barrier where they told me to turn around as i need special permition.

does anyone know how to get up the mountain? maybe not the peak, but i just want to walk as high as i can get.

    thanks!!

  5. old thread but came across it while googling gyms.

any recommendations for a cheap gym in the same area of that powerhouse gym? i dont care if theres no shower/sauna or everythings dirty, just something basic. wheres that fitness thailand gym located? i cant find it on google

    thanks

  6. ive just been to jacky bike today. im loocking for clickpedals, ut with long enough "stings" for offroad/single trail on the other side, any idea where to find that in CM?

also does anyone know about that group chiang mai trail riders and how to get in contact with them? id like to meet some people for offroad/single trail. ive been doing some exploring myself but its so hard to find all the tracks.

    thanks!

  7. i gotta move this week and would like to live in a house rather than an apartment, so maybe someone has a free room. location should be vaguely around huay kaew, can be a few km north or south of course. internet is very important, and a kitchen. just shoot me a p.m. if you have anything.

  8. hi, im looking for a language class on a monthly basis, but not an extensive course. i saw walens smallest package is 10k baht, 60 hour, but i would much rather concentrate on speaking not writing. afaik, at the university its only for a year or extensive for a month. i would like to be in a group, and im a total beginner. please let me know of any places/teachers. thank you!

  9. i was close to start pretty much the same thread :-) . i always wanted to have an rc plane, and one time i was close to put my savings into buying one but decided against it, knowing i would probably crash it the first time, i was like 14 so the money mattered. before coming to thailand i already looked into rc planes here and saw, that i can get cheap ones for less than 100$, so im very excited to get into it. my only fear now is i might get too crazy about it, building/flying/crashing planes all day long...

would be nice to get in contact with you guys!

  10. ive got a kind of weird question for all u who have been cycling in laos and vientam: what about all those dangerous animals, like bears, tigers, and leopards. is there any real danger by them? ive heard that snakes dont bite you when u dont actually sit down on them or something. id appreciate any help (i know this question is an invitation for a million stupid answer-jokes ;-)

and i wont be starting in chiang mai to avoid traffic, anyoone knows if i can take a bicycle on the bus in thailand?

  11. @mrclough: thanks but i had all kinds of ebooks etc.

@bluegrass: im 23, i want to learn rock and maybe spanish guitar on the acoustic. i dont have any guitar yet here, i think im going to buy a cheap eguitar here, mainly to just practice. my experience is quite basic, mostly i just tried to learn some songs on my own via tabs/guitar pro

  12. hi

im looking for a guitar teacher in chiang mai, local or expat doesnt matter, but i dont speak any thai yet. can anyone recommend one or maybe is one? also, any ideas where to look for one? i dont want to do it via musicschool as its a lot more expensive. im on a very basic level, so teacher doesnt have to be high qualified. ive played some years ago but havent in a long time, and i never had a teacher nor discipline to get very far, so ill give it a shot now. id prefer e-guitar, but would like to do normal too.

    thanks!

  13. hi! thanks for the replies! do you guys have MSN messenger or skype? would be nice to stay in touch maybe for future tours or just exchanging info about cycling in chiang mai.

about allan bate: wow! that dude is insane. i will keep track of his progress, really interesting to see that. my plan is more the "chilled way":take it easy, take a day off when i come to a very nice place etc. its not just riding, i also want to see a lot. for me the heat is kinda problem too, so far all my training has been going up and down doi suthep/pui. its nice because it gets a lot cooler after some climbing and less smoke. yesterday i made it to the village (pushed back up tho, that little road is so steep), and came out 45k, so i definetly think im in shape for 100k rides under normal circumstances regarding the heat yesterday and that i made 1,5k+ in height.
