Rather a gloomy posting but facing reality.
Just diagnosed in Australia with Type 2 Diabetes as am 59 years old.
Interested to know of any good doctors and hospital facilities as I will
be coming to live in HH on December 1st/2004.
Also need some information on Health Insurance.
Was in Chiagmai for four years and had a policy with A.I.A.
Not sure what course of action to take as will be holding a Visa
Non Immigrant B valid until April 3/2005 then do not know what steps
to take on expiry other than to have the 850 000 baht in a thai bank
or leave and get a Tourist Visa from Penang or KL...
Many thanks for taking time to read this somewhat muddled attempt

I am in possession of a Non Immigrant B which will not expire till April 3/2005.
Is it possible to then go to KL or Penang and get a 60 days Visa { Tourist } and keep doing this till the end of the year.
I have a Non Immigrant B which was granted by the Buddhist University where I teach but have resigned as from end of this month and they are not going to cancel my Visa but let it extend to its stamped date of April 3rd, then I have to decide my next move as I dont wish to return to Australia but would prefer Malaysia. I dont know what the consulate will make of things seeing a Non Immigrant B and then asking for a tourist visa as I will no longer be working in Thailand..
Many thanks to all who bother to give me some advice

I will be living in Hua Hin from December through to April 1st before I have to make a decision

I will be coming to live in Hua Hin on an Australian Tourist Visa, 60 days i think which can then be extended for another 30 days at Bangkok Immigration.
What I want to know is...when that Visa expires is it possible to go to Penang or KL and be granted another Tourist Visa of 60 days rather than having to return to Australia each time for such renewals.
I am not sure of policy in Penang or KL of granting such a visa and as to how many
times one can do this before it is no longer allowed.
Many thanks

It is a long way from city and beach, stayed one night only....two tall towers facing each other so not much privacy with pool between...too far out if you want to go out at night..

No accusations of favouritism...am going to Hua Hin tomorrow to check things out but if you have any listings between 8000 and 9000 baht per month near beach would be extremely grteful...Dukkha

Well I must say this is such an excellent site in providing support and information and in such a short time. Thank you Astral for your immediate response. As it is a Buddhist University I have been working at it functions differentlyfrom the others. I could easily negotiate with my boss in saying I am not sure when I will be able to return to Thailand and if so that I am not sure that I would be well enough to continue teaching but in retrospect I feel it better that I return here which will be to Hua Hin and not to Chiangmai afresh, meaning a new tourist visa which will be issued from Melbourne and can be extended, I presume, for a further 30 days in Bangkok, giving me three months and virtually no immigration problems.
Let me say that this site is a wonderful resource for ex-pats and I wish to extend my apprectiation to all those who have made it possible as it certainly removes some of the angst associated with living here especially with the buddhist notion of impermanence.
Chok dii to all.

Many thanks . You bring up an interesting point. I have been teaching at the Buddhist University for just under four years. I have a non immigrant visa renewed each year along with a workpermit. However i have to return to Australia for medical reasons at end of September. The visa is still valid until April 3rd 2005.
I will not be able to continue teaching so I guess it is best to inform the University and have them cancel the Visa and workpermit otherwise when I want to return to Thailand questions may be asked as to how come I am not working and yet have still a valid visa until April 3rd 2005...or is it too risky to return to the kingdom on the original non immigrant Visa and do the three monthly sign in which will be required by March 22nd, or just play it straight and apply for a new Tourist Visa when I return December 1st and avoid any complications with immigration.
Many thanks for your support

As I have a 12 month non immigrant Visa as a teacher at a Buddhist Universityin Chiangmai, I have been doing the required three monthly sign in at immigration here. However I will not be returning to CM but will be living in Hua Hin. Will I need to travel to Bkk to sign in at immigration while I am living in Hua Hin for three months as my Visa will not have expired until April 3rd...many thanks for any information.

Many thanks for your exhaustive and well researched
reply to my question.
I sincerely appreciate the time and effort that you expended
in explaining the situation to me, dullard that I be.
It is a credit to this forum that people are willing to show such
support and almost professional advice when dealing with persons
of my ilk who are not at all informed in matters relating to the above.
Again many thanks and keep up the excellent work.

I am an Australian Citizen.
I am a male aged 59.
I am confused by reports regarding 12 month Visa.
As my monthly income is in excess of 70 000 baht
through Australian Superannuation as a disabled
pensioner, is it possible when I return to Melbourne,
Australia that I can apply to the Thai Consulate for
a retirement Visa OR do I also have to have 850 000 baht
in a Thai bank account in addition to the monthly income.
I keep hearing contradictory stories concerning what actual
position enables one to apply for a Retirement Visa and how
much of the red tape can be done in Australia without arriving
in Bangkok and undergoing further bureaucratic bungling...
Many thanks

Hi ..am moving to Hua Hin in December and am looking for a condo around 8000-9000 baht per month for Dec/Jan/Feb/March...would then like to keep it when I return to Australia each three months by paying three months in advance while I am away...anyone familiar with good real estate agents or sites where one can view the kind of properties that are available, must have a pool and furnished.
Mny thanks

Hi...I have stayed at Hua Hin Suites for about four years annually. The staff is wonderfully professional, it is a 5 minute walk through the beautiful gardens of Sofitel to the beach....I give it my highest rating and is quiet and central
