Hey Glitterman,
I've seen you about, I thought the missing part of your get up was Emu, stick him on the handlebars and you've cracked it.

I have had a long talk with the cashier, and it cetainly makes money in the high season

These guys will try every trick in the book...

Things certainly aren't looking good right now on the tourist front, I know it's low season but the decline in tourists was IMO much more rapid then usual over the past few weeks.
For business owners that rely solely on tourism it must be a worrying time and with not much to look forward to other then a very small dose of Songkran and watching Shrek boy run circles around Donovan on June the 12th things are looking a little bleak.

So, What Is Your Final Conclusion About Thailand ?
Patience is a virtue.

Those that have always relied on someone else for a wage at the end of the month and clocked in and out for the last 25 years will struggle here and anywhere else they decide to retire or semi retire to as it just isn't in their nature to look after themsleves.
No matter what your academic background is, how many A levels or Master's Degree's, being self employed, mostly if not all your life in your home country will undoubtedly help you immensely if you decide to live abroad whether you work or not once you get there.

I am fully aware of the expression thank you.
Thank You for the suggestion about the "if you cant do the time...." T-Shirt, that's really useful and helpful. I have my Credit Card card sitting right in front of me and am over whelmed with anticipation to order one and wear it out with the lads next Friday night.
My only concern is getting locked up for actually wearing it but hey as you say I should learn to listen more to such meaningful and educational advice.

I forgot to mention that I much prefer the British sense of humour moreso than any other type (American for example, which is mostly witless).
The exception to the rule would be Steve Martin and Joe Pesci but maybe that's just me.
The Office would be a prime example though what you mean.

Anyone remember the old Visa Runs when your passport went to the border without you. Even though it was advertised and practised openly it was highly illegal as many who received fines, bans from Thailand and jail time can attest. I personally know several who received sizeable fines and another who received a 99 year ban from Thailand after having spent 7 months under House Arrest.
Are you deliberately trying to unnecessarily frighten people? There are no 99 year bans or jail time in Thailand for doing what the OP has asked!
Do as you please but do't do the crime if you can't do the time.Give me strength.

What if you have no-one to send back the visa..does your embassy in Hull use an Express Courier Service if you included say a Paid Return envelope or Charge To service ala FedeX etc?
Absolutely not, your documents can only be sent from the embassy in Hull to a UK address, there is no other way around that.

Ah so there is a Brit dry humor which I began to notice to many of the thread.
Excuse my ignorance to the brit culture/language. I recently started posting and reading in the general section and my initial impression was how unnecessay some of the sarcastic and down right offensive comments made by a few individuals, or maybe many individuals.
Yeah I can lighten up and just take it for what its worth, but I am bit sensitive and yeah I understand there's no sympathy for that either.
And I do get that the forum is written in english for a english speaking crowd.
HOWEVER some of these comments in conjunction with "British sense of humor" does IMO honestly either offend the unsuspecting new comers or leaves a sour taste in their mouth of expats in Thailand.
I would love for people to curb their comments but obviously that wont happen. But I can tell you that it does drive people away or prevents them wanting to post a legitimate question or comment with out feeling their toes are being stepped on.
The naysayers to my post will probably say, take it or leave it.
But funny how being in thailand these same posters OVER EMPHASIZE how we must abide by the thai culture yet it's free game on TV.
But what do I know, cultural rules don't apply on cyberspace right?

Well done that's great news.
I, however, would of rejected your application simply for the fact of being a Gooner.
-
Yes you can do this, it is not breaking any laws in Thailand because you wouldn't be here. Anyone tells you different does not know what they are talking about.
Copy your passport and visa application and keep that with you whilst you sit around the swimming pool sipping a cocktail with your original visa and application sent via courier with online tracking, DHL, EMS, FEDEX etc etc.
Keep a copy with you and the contact number for Hull Embassy (for example) so you verify and explain why you temporarily do not have the original with you just in-case your asked. Keep you head down and out of trouble and you will be fine. Have your family courier the paper work back to your hotel with online tracking.
You are not breaking any laws in Thailand, the Marco Polos that will tell you otherwise are an odd bunch, its like they dont approve of anything that isnt written in Lonely Planet.
Going to a neighboring country for a 10 day break, beats flying to the UK and back if your only purpose is to obtain a new visa. It's a waste of money when you can relax and enjoy yourself elsewhere rather than Hull City Center.

Everything is fine and dandy until a situation pops up and i criticize other Thais. She is so protective over her people its a little OTT. Not a serious fault so I've learnt to live with it and turn a blind eye to many things i don't think is right. Whether that is right or wrong i don't know. And like she says your in Thailand now things are different....yeah yeah i know i know
-
I would of simply given her a warning. If there really was a tourist who made a complaint I would like to wish you the worst possible life imaginable.

This version of the the old chestnut page filler...Ronnie said he "hit it off" with his 26-year-old wife in the southeastern resort of Pattaya seven years ago, where he was on holiday and she worked as a housemaid
-
I thought one of my gf's family members was giving me the come on, although quite flattered it turned out she had a lazy eye.

Whilst strolling along Beach Road Pattaya last week (well of course I was not really there!!) I was sidled up to 4 times by Thai men in half hour, offering Cocaine. Their spiel was identical "what you want -cocaine!"
Yes they work out of the shop on the corner of soi 9 . When you go to collect your package instead of getting 10 hits your given 10 years.

It's all about how you see yourself in the mirror, you have to sleep with what you see reflected.
If you look anything like your Avatar you must have bleeding nightmares then.

Now that little misunderstanding has been cleared up we can get back on topic

Dam Septic Tanks can be a real pain in the backside when loud and full of crap. Hope you get yours sorted real soon.

Only because I want to live in LOS with her, and can't be bothered with all the hassels I'd have to go through otherwise. Gotta love that year long permit to stay.
I have no illusions that being married is a guarantee of anything.
It's not as though I have any property etc for her to take away if it all goes pear shaped ( the ex got it all ).
Whatever you do i sincerely wish you all the best and hope your very happy together.
