  1. It's strange how the international media always seem to leave out the 'Thaksin link' when they report on this. It's such an important piece in the puzzle that to me it even feels suspicious that they don't mention this, almost like he's greased a few palms in the west (oh it does happen!). Instead they talk about the 'rural poor' versus the 'elite', and associate the word democracy with the very people who ruin the very idea by happily selling their vote fot the price of a couple of beers!

I think that the bbc/cnn and the rest of these 'non-biased' organisations should get to the real truth which is far more interesting than the story which they're currently reporting.

Why don't they ask the red shirts how much they're getting paid? Ask them why they think Thaksin is so great and what he could do for the country should he return. Ask them how they think that Thaksin, as a convicted criminal, could possibly plan to be taken seriously by the international community, should he manage to bully his way back into office.

Ask them why they are using women and children as a human shield.

Ask them why they risk their lives for a greedy evil billionaire?

Why can't the press get an interview with Thaksin? A few well placed questions will simply destroy him.

Why don't the international media do their job rather than appearing to be the heroes in the danger zone, reporting alongside the red-shirt 'freedom fighters'?

My point? It appears that Thaksin has more than just a few red-shirts in his back pocket!!!

    It makes a better story.

The Reds have some honest complaints but they passed on the deal for what? Anarchy? Time has come. They can piss off.

  2. There is a term for this, keyboard warrior. People who don't have the guts to do in real life what they feel they can get away with online.

Most wear their feelings on their sleeve. One learns very quickly in this world to just be PC and get along. No need to butt heads with all the emotional lightweights out there.

"I am being objectified!" ----> Just comical. Thank god you gals are so cute.

  3. IMO real life requires good manners. If that is PC then so be it, but I see nothing wrong with considerate polite behavior.

Of course, I agree. That is why I ask PC in real life. I don't act PC on Thai Visa because its behind a computer screen and there is no real motivation to do so. If each member had to use their real name and had their picture as an avatar, I would once again be PC. I don't really think I would post anyways though since being PC is boring.

My main point is that a poster who might disgust a female user might be her husband in the other room unbeknown to her.

Man act very differently when they are not in your presence. I know that many women have been hurt by this realization and I do strongly feel bad for women as this is very much a Man's world.

  4. Real life requires men to be PC towards women. On the internet you are going to hear the truth. Sure, there are some jaded dregs done over by Thai gals but it doesn't change the fact that what you might view as sexist is the way that 99% of men act in real life when you aren't around. It's a man's world. God forbid you speak Thai and know about the way that Thai men talk and act in their place of business. Put an ad out for "White skinned leggy secretary who has sexy attire and can type" or the national male pastime of Thailand. Basically, if you are a PC person, Thailand is the last place in the world for you. Of course, many Westerners take great pride in feeling like they are different from everyone else and unique so I expect some firm rebuttals. :)

  5. There is a reason why Western men prefer Thai women to Western women. Its because they have better personalities and maintain their physical features longer. I am a big fan of Western women but the sad truth is that its all downhill physically from 22 or so. They really have to work to maintain their shape and the vast majority don't. :)

  6. Who says that raising the price resulted in less customers? If you have 100 people buying a ticket, but 10 choose not to after you raise it 65%, you are still making more money.

THAI Air appears to be using a very lousy business model and I would never fly with them locally or on a 2 hour hop as its much cheaper to fly Air Asia.

    ...and hope for the best...

3 hour delay, missed connection... tough titties...

    cancelled flight... no refund...

lost luggage... no reimbursement... (not even an apology)

Ive never had a problem. :)

  8. After the shopping malls, hitting the sex trade makes sense if you want to bring down the government. Ruin the tourist trade altogether and with the steep price of TBH the export trade for Thailand looks glum to say the least. Hitting the rice fields would make a lot of sense but that is red territory, so they won't do that.

Sounds like you really know what you are talking about.

  9. I posted here on 28-April that I had been told by a friend working at Chula hospital that all operations had been cancelled and the hospital were not accepting any new cases. This started a full eighteen hours before the red shirts entered the hospital. The facts are that the hospital had planned to move the patients long before the red shirts entered the building. The two incidents are not connected, but a nice piece of propaganda for the government side.

Glad to see the red shirt leaders apologised, as a hospital is way off-limits for all sides in this dispute.

who knows if this is true or not but the whole "Look at granny being rolled out with her machines beeping. wait, lets stop and get a photo. oh jeez darn it these red shirts are bad guyz arent theyz" is just comical...

  10. no word from the red tv members? come on how can you defend/ support / beleive these guys? just because you support the rights of the poor doesnt mean you have to b a red shirt! if these guys gained power it would b worse for everybody

Going to the hospital was a ridiculous move but moving the patients is an obvious PR opportunity for the government. Both sides are acting like children. i am sure the government was thrilled when they heard about the hospital situation. its not about what is best for thailand it is about winning and continuing your ability to steal the most
