  1. There are lots of nice non commercial guys out there of all age groups. They are everywhere, working in shops, hospitals etc, etc. My advice, keep your eyes open & use that wonderful smile you mention & see where it takes you. Don't be stingy, remember even professional people earn a pittance in comparison to your home country. You may think you are'nt so well off, but you are super wealthy in the eyes of the majority of Thais. Chokdee in your search:-)

  2. He who desires but acts not breeds a pestilence

How one wonders could anyone find this either 'puzzling or frustrating' beats me!

Are you Thomasma gay ? I doubt it or why would you ask such a ridiculous question ? What would you prefer; a pale faced fat farang boy covered in acne?

Don't knock it until you've tried it chum!

  3. The best & cheapest English style food in Pattaya-Seaside 2 restaurant on Soi Chyaphun-Forget all about Rosie O'Gradys, Pig & Whistle etc; these are for the tourists. Fish & Chips at Seaside 95 baht, two good sized pieces of fish, home made freshly cut chips, peas & side salad, Roast dinners, Beef stew at 70 baht served with a side plate of roast spuds, just too much to eat & loaded with Beef. This place is Thai owned operated; the owner having spent several years working in the catering trade in the UK. He delivers the best at an amazingly low price. Two areas, an air con area & a fan area for smokers. Not forgetting his 'Full House' brekkie at 65 baht....Truly amazing value, with a great ex pat following. Same soi as Crazy Daves, who also does a good brekkie.

You cannot beat either the Lek or the Apex hotels their buffet brekkies now priced at 95 baht-eat all you want & theres a great selection. Each place also does an excellent dinner buffet from 6pm 165 baht, which is teriffic value when you see what is on offer. I personally prefer the Lek, however, both hotels are operated by the same owners & recently the standard & choice of their buffets, especially dinner has vastly improved. Give it a try.

  4. Having been in Thailand for over eight years I've never had a problem; initially having cat B visas, work permits etc. These past few years, no business, no legit work so I've been on a non imm cat O multiple entry. I emphasise I am NOT married. I am currently in the UK on business & need to renew my visa.Today I telephoned the Thai consulate in Hull & spoke at length to a very helpful lady who assures me that the consulate has received no new instructions with regards to these new regulations whatsoever & as far as she & all staff there are concerned it is business as usual.

The consulate is aware of the impending changes, however, she tells me that they are designed specifically for farang with Thai spouses & will not have any effect on single guys like myself, assuring me that I do not have to tie up 400,000 baht in my Thai bank account or demonstrate my income. I post this info predominantly for those guys who are not married & are not old enough to qualify for the retirement visa; little has been mentioned here for us :o.........Maybe we should form a union......The Young (or younger) Singles Club....lol

  5. I totally agree with the sentiments expressed re 'the Englishman abroad' Some of the specimens I see on a daily basis in Pattaya really make me sick. Taxexile says it all. Makes me ashamed to be British. After eight years in this crazy town, I'm leaving for pastures new, somewhere I won't have to rub shoulders with this ever growing band of scum that find their way to Pattaya. Sitting in a restaurant recently two loud mouthed Cockneys came in with their Thai girlfriends & sat at the table next to mine; I have never had the misfortune to listen to two more foul mouthed individuals in my entire life. I checked the bin & left without finishing my meal, as did another chap at a nearby table. How I pity those girls & boys who have to tag along with these types! Lets hope with this impending fuel price increase that the price of air travel quadruples; this may just keep them back home in blighty!

  6. Guys, any general info appreciated on Khao Kalok & surrounding area. I am long term Pattaya, well & truly sick of the place & am looking to relocate before total madness takes hold. I like Hua Hin / Cha-am area very much & want to find somewhere very quiet near the beach. I have found an affordable nice looking recently built house for sale in Khao Kalok, approx 25-30 kms south of HH that I think would suit. I know practically nothing about this area so ANY info / advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
