This country is seriously doing my head in with the scum it attracts.

So, even when its not the country or its indigenous folks doing the seriously evil f*ed up shit, its the country that does your head in for 'attracting' this scum, yeah? If I were you I'd f* off if I felt so bad about the place I was at that I blame it even when its [some of] the c*s who come here pulling this sort of crap!!! Personally, what 'does my head in' is that I don't even understand why those like yourself, constantly winding yourselves up but at the same time evidently gleefully happy to play this 'blame game', blaming the country for everything, are even here!!! :wai:

I appreciate your candor and totally agree with you, but as we all know here in the LOS, its all about the money, money, money, in other words, Thai could think like this, i.e. opposed to us; OMB if we stop people coming in who don't have travel insurance, Thailand will sink

Well, no it wouldn't. Having adequate travel insurance is a personal responsibility. Considering the cost of flights, the extra cost of insurance isn't much to shout about, and people SHOULD be made to ensure they have it. Either way, jumping on a motorcycle on roads you have no idea about should be a simple no-no!! Its actually quite a 'Thai' way of thinking to assume something which looks, seems, so 'fun' couldn't possibly cause you serious harm!!! I've personally been riding my Honda-Click scooter here (in Chiang Mai) for almost nine years now, and me and my (Thai) girlfriend generally hire one when we travel south, but I still wouldn't recommend it to any visitor, especially on the 'crazier' roads around Phuket and Pattaya, especially as a friend of mine from my hometown in England, lost his son in such an accident here a few years back!!! :wai:

It is up to the court to decide if the attempted murder charge is appropriate, but I do hope that Sumeth is also going to be charged. The punch he threw was pretty dirty and I do not feel it fair that he can just walk away from that without some repercussions.

So, a 'dirty' punch v getting slashed (with whatever!) and being run down , just about same same, 'fairs fair', yeah? Err, probably not actually. I'm pretty sure we'd ALL feel aggrieved if we were charged with punching someone who'd just pulled that sort of crap on us!!! :wai:

He jumped after stabbing himself in the back, bloody rubbish.

Brain dead police again, farang dead  below a balcony, so he must have jumped.!!

Who says he was stabbed? Sounds like another case of brain-dead summisations by know-all farangs, who give the rest of us a bad name, again!! CCTV evidently shows him in some apparent emotional distress pacing in and out of his room.. if he'd been stabbed, then it took a bloody long time for it to 'kick in' and force him to tumble (not even from his room apparently) to the ground!!! People like yourself simply will not have it that some foreign guys really do commit suicide here for whatever reason.. gotta be a police cover up or, at best, a set-up by other Thais!! (Not that these things can't and don't ever happen, but some objective balance please, fellas!! 'Oh really?.. Mmm.. Well, <deleted> if I know!' at least would be more objective - and certainly truer! - than anything usually posted on here!!!)... :wai:

Don’t do it. Don’t do it. Don’t do it. Don’t do itDon’t do it. Don’t do it.

    That’s my advice every time.

If in any doubt whatsover, this ALWAYS has to be the best and only advice!! Sadly, too many despite hearing such words of warning just think 'Yeah, I get that. But what if..?' and go ahead anyway, based on some wishful intention(s) and ever more subjectively hopeful ignorance that is blissfully devoid of consideration re, others related negative experiences in said matter(s)!!!

A decidedly more sensible approach than a year in jail and 100K. I can however see that greed will get the better of the enforcers and what could have been an image enhancer for the country, will end up being a fiasco that will show the country in a very bad light indeed. Again.

Yes, this is always the biggest real 'issue; here, sadly!! I could actually agree with smoking areas and minimal fines for smoking outside of them - I am not a smoker, anyway - but really, '2nd-hand smoke' a problem on the beach? Personally, I don't care who smokes or where as long as they don't blow it in my face! (And then THEY would know about it sharpish!!).. But this whole 'You smoke, I choke.. pay the fine, scumbag!' mentality is just a live as I do, or insist YOU do, or you will be ARBITRARILY punished for thinking you had some freedom to do your own thing, even if you do it reasonably!!!

It's not that I am criticising your sad plight that you were mutilated by your parents and refuse to acknowledge that.

But in fact you were a little baby and would not remember that before the doctor nipped off that little extra skin, he actually sliced down the skin, then sliced his way right around the skin to seperate it from the gland. After that, he is able to pull the skin right up and insert it in the snipper that is held in place until bleeding stops.

Then he snips that little piece off as you say.

There are complications when too much or too little is cut.

Male ego and love of your parents /religion would prevent you from ever being honest about your childhood abuse. So I will respect your fantasy.

Why you waffling on (and on!) about YOUR op.. and basically how it can be for other MALES - seems YOUR ego has not been affected!! - when for women, especially little girls, its undeniably so much worse?!!.. This is just a horrible HORRIBLE abuse and any participating greedy-bastard doctors should be hung, drawn, and quartered!!!

What happened to the days of a disagreement, punch up and then both shaking hands and having a beer together?  Now everyone needs to use weapons, in this case a bottle and fight in groups like the Thai's etc.  Society gone mad.

'..fight in groups like the Thai's..' cause no other countries' yobs ever fought in groups before, yeah? pissed up tourists on the rampage is all its about!!.. what 'society'???

As this topic is 'Chiang Mai Immigration" specific it should be in the Chiang Mai Forum ?

The concept of standardization of rules as regards Thai Immigration is a leap too far, everything is "my patch" based at officer and location level.

Unfortunately, end of the day (ultimate decision time) this is too true! There is supposed to be 'standardisation' but given that the person in charge at any Consulate or Embassy - or Immigration Office - has been given the ultimate say-so (or not) on our applications, then yes, it will, at least CAN, come down, to a 'My patch..!' scenario, especially if, as I see so many, 'alien-applicants' (us!) go in with a 'No, no! You're NOT going to mess ME around!!' attitude! Having just returned to Thailand from an extended period working in China, I can at least say that here such things are usually relatively straight forward as that 'dispensation' various authorities have there to deal with you as they will can be no less than soul-destroying!!!  :wai:

  11. WHITE or BLUE background? Er.. YES.

Seems to me, going by my last couple of years experiences travelling out and back into Thailand, that at least 2 'pasport size' 6x4cm pics, WHITE background will always be required for the visa itself, whichever country you apply in, and then later when you go to Thai immigration, locally, to extend your stay, those WHITE background pics, any you have left, you will be told are of no use now, and so you will have to go 'next door' to get your pics taken again but with a BLUE background (for 200bt).. Vice versa, of course, any BLUE background ones you have left will be deemed unacceptable next time you need to go elsewhere and start the visa process over again.. Just the way of it, now, it seems. :wai:

This type of line cutting happens to me all the time at the Lotus 10 or less line by Thai people. Can't just pinpoint foreigners alone for this type of behavior. These "thick faced" people just walk past the line like they don't care and dump their stuff in front of the cashier. Also, there are a number of times where "10 or less" is just a suggestion and full carts are accepted as well.

True enough about the '10 or less' tills and the queue jumpers/ over-itemed dolts who too often frequent them. However, this article doesn't JUST 'pinpoint' any particular group of people, does it? It basically highlight's one particular IDIOT, to put it (very) mildly,  who happens to be from America, and whom seems pretty <deleted> proud to BE just such an 'American Idiot'!!! :wai:
