  1. Yesterday's article in the Straits Times quoting Aung San Suu Kyi's opinion on the Thai crisis is probably a lot more illuminating than any of this nonsense.

quoting the straits times is like quoting des spiegel or any thai newspaper or straw polls. be original and one will be more believable. most asian newspapers are not reliable as sources of truths. they often quote others and slant it to their own invested interests. as such, anug san suu kyi's opinion on the thai crisis may not really be that illuminating and may actually turn out to be more nonsensical especially from a newspaper source like the straits times of singapore which is very pro the military junta of myannmar. :)

No matter what newspaper quotes it, she did make that statement, it was also on CNN.

    Link please!

  2. I went down to Rajaprasong today, guess what, not a single red shirt in sight. I guess they went home or something. Just a bunch of people hanging around waiting for the malls to open. Crisis over, disaster averted. Congrats PM.

During the conversation earlier one side was saying that there are nearly no protesters on site, the other that there are many but mainly at night. I said they come a bit after midnight, but was challenged over it, so I said I would make a video of it if they come again.

So here is the video of the "reenforcements" that for the past 2 days arrived with fanfare at 12.45 am. Today they are a bit early, which cought me unprepared and made me miss the first couple of minutes while searching for the camera.

    Regardless, enjoy the video.

I've converted to FLV as original is 150 MB. Also resized from 640x480 to 320x240 for smaller size. Original video available if anyone thinks this is doctored job.

EDIT: Tried to attach the video, but it always comes to the end, then says "You did not select a file to upload". Uploading to another server now and will provide the link in 1 min.

    Thank you for the video

  3. I'll buy y'all a beer the day the yellow terrorists are actually serving their sentences.

Yep, it'll probably be the same day the red leaders do. And the day Thaksin and Jakorob return to man-up to their mis-doings. :)

I think there is a difference. Most of the red shirt leaders are out on bail, so they will probably get no more bail. If they try to get amnesty for themselves, that must go for yellow shirt leaders too.

  4. I think it's only a matter of time before Foreign Governments put the Red Shirts on the Terrorist list.

I hope they do so, just so the people watching the news understand that these terrorists are not supported by 99.9% of the population here.

They give Thailand a bad image pretending to be a massive protest while they are just criminals on the run. They have hurt the country and it's reputation very badly.

Anyone associated by any means with them should also be jailed, for supporting a Terrorist Organization.

Calling them terrorists would amount to tyranny. The same type of tyranny Bush and company used in the US to create a war of aggression and get foreign support.

From my understanding of SE Asia, they've had enough tyrants to last them for a while. I doubt that such a move would sit well with the Thai people.

They are what they are--5,000 or so in a city of 15,000,000--the world knows this. What you have is civil unrest that creates a traffic jam. It'll pass.

Welcome to the real world! 26 people killed, almost 1000 injured!

  5. Definitley seems with youtube and Methee that the evidence of red involvement in violence is increasing. I guess that mustr have played its part in todays climbdown by their leadership. This stuff wont play well with neutrals. I would think the government will make a coujnter offer and I would guess the sideconditions will be difficult. There are people going to be potantially facing death sentences

It will also be interesting to see the reaction of the multicoloureds and PAD. Without their agreement to a deal there is little chance of it working

I think PM said at the first negotiations that a solution must be for the good of everyone in thailand, not only for the red shirts. A true negotiation must involve more then only the reds

That is the problem with Abhisit, he thinks only of himself. Of course, his leaving Thailand in shame and living in England may not be good for him. But it would be great for Thailand!

I read what you say, but I don´t understand :)

  7. Something is happening down the red stage. They are talking like it is over. Maybe some splits in the reds between stopping and going on. Confusing now Guess we will find out soon

Sounds like reds are asking government for talks

They have made an offer after foreign Diplomats visited the Reds rally site.

The offer is Dissolve the House in 30 days.

    60 days of election campaign.

    Then elections.

So 90 days from now elections.

Great offer, lets hope Abhisit and his ilk will see sense and stop their war against these people.

Accept it Abhisit, lets return Thailand to normal and lets have an election !!

It was not an offer, it was a new demand

    1. Please do not post in all capital letters, bold, unusual fonts, sizes or colors. It can be difficult to read.

    2. Please do not modify someone else's post in your quoted reply, either with font or color changes or wording. Such posts will be deleted and the user warned.

    3. If possible please proofread your post first, poor grammar and spelling can make the post difficult to understand. However be aware that not every member is a native english speaker and excessive posts regarding others spelling and grammar not only hijacks the topic but is poor netiquette.

  9. "The Nation",huh????

did you believe everything you read about weapons of mass destruction in iraq before from the nation and fox news and whatever????????? :D:D:D

what makes you thinnk thai newspapers are so different?? :):D:D

due to the tie-in of the Nation with Thaivisa we are not permitted to quote the other major Thai English newspaper. One is thus limited to citing the Nation- which openly sides with the Yellow shirts and is a trashy newspaer by any standards- still it does include, on rare occasions guest essays from non-aligned journalists such as the article above.

You should trust the Nation, they're Independent. Says so right on their website.

It is the Bangkok Post that don´t allow any quotes, not Thaivisa or Nation

  10. If you rule out negotiations as a possibility, what else is left under these circumstances? It seems the Reds are signing their own death warrants if that is going to be the approach. Even if they have stockpiled weapons, which is quite likely, they will be no match for the military. The wild card is whether the military rank and file are prepared to carry out what will amount to an execution order by their generals on their fellow citizens. I truly hope not!

In the BBC report the red leaders are open for more talks :)

  11. Every average educated person knows that the majority of charges against Thaksin were politically motivated. That's also why no country that Thaksin has visited has yet agreed to extradite him. They won't join the Thai political circus. Just like Interpol won't. If Thaksin was really the dangerous criminal that the current Thai government paints him as, Interpol would have long arrested him. Sure, he's done some shady business deals and put money in his own pocket, but if those strict guidelines under which he was convicted would be enforced in Thailand, there would be no politician left in the country.

    Interpol does not arrest anyone.

It is an organization that has memberships of different nations to disseminate information on wanted persons. It is not a law enforcement enity and has no arrest powers.

    Now, back to the arguing....

The goverment don´t want him back. They just like him to feel the heat under his feeths and travel around the world like a zombie

  12. Thats also not what he said, he replied to the one above that said that if the pad would protest in isarn they would be kicked out.

he replied back that 70% of these protestors are banhkokians meaning they belong here and it is totally differenty from pad protesting in the isarn. He did not state that it was 70% of the bangkokians.

ps. i dont know if the 70% is correct, just explaining his point as dru2 missed it!

I thought it was more then 7000 reds in BBK :)

  13. Actually with all the rumors, hidden agendas, whispering and false starts, this whole thing is getting boring... everytime you hear the army is going to attack and they don't it's like Chicken Little crying "the sky is falling." Or else, Nattawut says he is going to take the red shirts picnicking at Silom and then he doesn't... ZZzzzzzzzzz

However, having said that... here are today's rumors/facts:

    1. Rajaprasong employees told to go home early

    2. Major hotels CLOSED today

    3. Chidlom Road closed for a while

    4. Tons of messages from Facebook saying Judgement Day is 9:00pm tonight

    5. Scattered skirmishes between multi-colored protesters and red shirts

Which all could add up to a big....................NOTHING! :D:D:)

PAD/Yellow/Multicolor are said to be going to attack tonight or in the next couple of days with guns and weapons and the intent to incite death and kill some of their own people, then demand the army take action against the reds.

Remember, the PAD are going to start the fight.

Not the reds, not the army..... those PAD/Yellow (now hiding in multicolor).

The violent parliament shutting, airport shutting, killing people at Don Muang airport bunch, all return again.

Just remember this, for after it all happens those to blame with premeditated intent are the PAD.

you are already making excuses for the reds , what a lot of BS the only people to blame are thaksin and his thugs.

    Its FACT.

The PAD/Yellow/Multicolor are now there "taunting" the Reds and trying to incite violence.

    FACT.

    It is pre-meditated with intent.

Therefore if people die tonight or the following days, it IS MURDER and this is pre-meditated action to incite violence and death.

But I think the peaceful red shirts just sit behind their barricades and ignore them, and nothing will happen
