"We all had girlfriends, wives in our home countries or other countries before we docked our boat in Thailand..."
Not me.

I live in Pattaya for many years. Unfortunately it's a bit dreary here with no decent green spaces(i.e. beach).
I always liked it up in Nong Khai and Isaan. It's so peaceful there.
I've never been to Phuket or down south. I wonder if it is nicer and more livable.

Just shows you 30k a month is easily doable here. How can anybody run out of money?
-
I'm looking for a cat to adopt. If you have any kitties or can find one for me please PM me.

There have been times when I was living here in a 3k a month shoebox. In fact, I was so broke I had nothing to eat but rice and noodle cups everyday. But I never considered going home and giving up. I eventually found a way to make money online after years of trying, but it has taken a lot of hard work, knowledge, and experience. Making money online is extremely hard! Trust me!
Just go home and try again.

I guess some people have never heard of a bank. Well, their loss.

Notice Thailand does not have these ridiculous unemployment problems. That is because it is a FREE economy where people can run a business without harassment from city health inspectors, government regulators, and IRS agents.
The economy here is so fluid and adaptable a brand new building or restaurant can go up in a matter of days. How long would it take those things take to go up in the usa? Years?
america needs to learn a thing or two about economics and start deregulating it's economy or it's going to have 'jobless recoveries' for the next fifty centuries.

Private health care really looks good for infant mortality rates in the USA. Communist Cuba has a better survival rate, according to the CIA factbook.
america is a role model for NOBODY!!!
-
What a sad sad disgrace my former homeland has become. Even Africa will have universal health care before america does.
america is the last place I want to be this century. Sure glad I left.

Lots of Viets in Cambodia but not many in Thailand. Too bad none of them come here.

Not much. I have no more affinity to America than I do to a pair of underwear.

I used to be a beer drinker but now I'm gravitating to vodka only. Gives me less of a hangover than this Chang stuff and I get plastered faster.
Unfortunately with vodka I usually black out and don't remember much afterwards.

100 baht a day? For a wife and two kids to live on?!
-
I've never had problems.
If you want to be super secure you can just buy a cheap onward ticket to Cambodia from airasia.

My Thai lady turns off the air-con when she wants us to save money. Heheheh.

How people get by on such small sums? I need at least 500 baht daily for food. Anything less and I'm starving!

Are you pretty? Maybe they thought you were cute.

I'm getting some important items delivered here from back "home". They say they're sending it through the regular delivery, not DHL?
Anybody have any problems getting stuff delivered here? I'm so worried about it getting delivered to the wrong place. The address is dodgy looking like Moo 12 Tai or something.

If you ask any food seller or worker on the street here what they pay in taxes here you might get a puzzled look. Despite having low wages Thais always manage to have plenty of cash on them. They are not hungry. They can afford healthcare, brand new cars, and other nice things. They are generally fairly well off. What can we learn from this?
I used to live in the US. In the US taxes are quite high despite what some people claim. I worked at a job but a big chunk of the money was siphoned off to the lazy members of society, old people who don't want to work, and government bureaucrats who simply waste the money on outrageous salaries and useless projects. Despite the high wages everybody seems to be complaining about not having enough money. It doesn't go very far as you would expect it should. Gee, I wonder why.
But in Thailand they have a system where the government does not act like a bloodsucker on the economy. Workers keep what they earn. Imagine that. No wonder they are so flush with cash. It's not stolen by the government.
Just think how much richer some countries would be if their government just stopped stealing from their own people. Certainly we'd here less whining from some people about not having enough money.

Thanks for the red card ive never bee sent off before.any chance of some better replies?
when i first come here i liked the cheapness of the place i thought all thai peoples smiles were real and i thought thai women were beautiful innocent girls ..Im not going home im going to live in japan.I spent a couple of weeks out there this year and loved it ok is not cheap but i find the people are better there. And the girls well thai women dont have a spot on jap girls.
Well if you can afford it then go ahead.
Personally I like Thailand because I don't have to be rich to afford to take a girl home with me for the evening.
I personally find $250/hr rental fees offensive.

Have a medal and congratulations. For your information, not all the girls in bars on Khao San Road are actually prostitutes, so she could have just been out having a good time when you met her. I sometimes go to Khao San Road with my Thai friends (girls and boys) and they're in no way prostitutes.
Prositute or not, you're not going to get free women. I'm tired of hearing about this myth. If women were free why do millions of sex tourists come to Pattaya?
Maybe because such men lack the non-financial assets that would make them attractive to the opposite sex.
This is now the 21st century and many women actually contribute more financially to the relationship than the men.

Where would you find these women then? I really don't personally know of a single legitimate(non feminist) relationship that is not based on a financial transaction. My mother stayed at home while my father worked. All the members of my family have high income men and stay at home wives.
The first girl I met here in Thailand is the same way. Stays at home and I generate all the income. Would she stay with me if I had no income? Never.
Money for love is the most natural thing in the world.

Pfff. Yet another guy who thinks women are free.
You just wait til she starts suggesting that you buy a house and/or car for the both of you. Then the trap is set...
They're only free until they start asking for money.

I stayed at a reasonably nice studio flat for about 3500 baht/monthly last year. So no doubt you can live very cheaply there. I only stayed for 2 months and paid through the nose for taxi tuk tuks daily(300 baht). If I had my own transport there I could easily do it on 30k.
Problem with CM is it is so dull you can't really be bothered to buy anything!
Thai Ladies; How Much Different Are They?

Huh. They're all after our money. How can anybody seriously deny it?
Well, just by traveling here you're beating the system. Cheaper wages equal more women in the sack. ChaChing! We win.
