My friends in America bought a home in a shared commons area condo development. The development company went poof, the commons areas, pool house, pools, trees, flowers, grass areas all dried up and died and left them owning a home worth 1/3 of what they paid. Ouch.

This has got to be a joke.

It was a rapid decent towards empty airliners. I traveled in and out of Thailand about 15 times from December until March and through Mid February most every seat was occupied. First to disappear were families with small children. Then everyone else. My last flight on an A320 had one passenger every other row with the occasional exception of pairs of travelers, usually husband and wife. What a comedown.

Honestly it seems like a very American tactic....if you can’t beat them...ban them.

The owners of this piece of property have some clout. Enough so various public agencies devoted to protecting the public will keep their mouths shut.

Talking of clams, have you considered a clam as a pet. You could name him Morris and place him in a fish bowl. There's not all the associated problems you get with cats and they're quiet.
Yes. I found one of the rare purring clams.

I’m surprised there is as little harm done as there is by former US soldiers. There are a lot of them . The US has been involved in some kind of military trouble making non stop for about 80 years. The most obvious danger for them is to themselves. Self harm and suicide are epidemic among US veterans.

If the farm workers get sick in large numbers, food supply to BKK will dwindle.
That will be an unmitigated disaster. -
Save your effort. There are NO masks to be had at any price.

Talk about a non issue. Lots of manufactured drama for an utterly inconsequential and irrelevant change in supposed duties. But I’m sure Her Worship prefers this silly tempest in a teapot to the very real and HORRENDOUS fact that the royal family is harboring a remorseless paedophile within its safeguarded and privileged sanctuary.

I am of mixed opinion. Child murder seems to me to be a mandate for the execution of the perpetrator. Yet, as vengeance..which is a valid objective in my view, life long imprisonment would be a never ending agony. The problem with imprisonments is the passing of time increases the opportunity and likelihood of release. This has been the case with many violent offenders and it ought not be even a possibility. Where that possibility exists, it should be foreclosed at the time of sentencing and the penalty of death imposed as immediate as possible.

The article states they buy on 30 year lease, which westerners can and have been doing for years
Yes, the market is for buying and selling leased land as I understand it.

Dammit! Everybody in Thailand has a uniform except visa seeking expats and immigrants. Why not? Something in navy blue with lots of brass buttons, lanyards and caps with gold braid. Decorated with battalions of medallions. Aye, we would be a smart looking lot we would conform to every conceivable dictate to boot.

Live and let live.
Nobody gets decapitated for not believing in it.
Well, not any more........besides which, in the Christian hay day there was a decided preference for burning people alive. Sure, there was the odd crucifixion or beheading but Christians really got into the burning thing.

They are EVAPORATIVE coolers based on the instantaneous cooling effect of moist air coming into contact with very dry air. I lived in the desert southwest of the USA and there, where humidity ranged between 5 and 25 percent, they are lovely. In the humid climate of Thailand where humidity ranges are much higher, evaporative coolers cannot be effective and the cooling effect on a person's body is primarily just the result of the fan moving air about. Over an extended time this hyper-saturated air becomes more distressing than the heat. There are evaporative coolers that can eliminate most of the moist air before it is discharged into the room but they are quite sophisticated and as expensive as conventional air conditioning.

I lived in Palm Springs, California in the 1980's when it became a magnet for 'spring breakers'. It followed the predictable course where the city became an unruly and unsanitary mess with people urinating and defecating all over tne tormented neighborhoods. We heard all of the usual baloney from T shirt shops and quick markets that sold beer and booze about what a wonderful economic boom this event brings to our little town. I came home from work one afternoon and when inside I heard noise coming from my swimming pool area in the back. I opened the sliding door and three young men bolted for the fence and went over it. They left an unpleasant surprise in my swimming pool. Sonny Bono became Mayor of Palm Springs and instituted policing policies and other arrangements that within 2 years the plaque was finished. Where else in the world are such 'rights to despoil' looked on as desireable for any community?

Ah yes, the FUTURE! It certainly was not my intension to live here until the inevitable end so I kept going back and forth to my Homeland until I found myself looking at the return to my birthplace with diminishing enthusiasm and while I was 'there' I would become eager to return 'home'. Life here has its drawbacks and I am nagged by some lingering, undefinable fears-which would likely be the same in my Homeland-but day by day, my life here is more fulfilling and can even rise to exciting on occasion which is an event that is highly unlikely to happen from where I came from. So, I'll keep pondering on it until providence makes the decision definite.Hard to say, after five years here, I see it in all its Splendour, my biggest bug, is Dangerous Driving everywhere, it's enough to put you off going out...
Lots of positives that's for sure....
See what happens in the future....
