  1. Hi, wife and I are due for our annual few weeks in Thailand. This trip we plan to buy 2010 Toyota Fortuna or similar. We have rented in the past but now it's time to buy.

Would it be better to buy in Bangkok or Ubon?

We want to buy for long term use, father in law will use to go to town. We don't want a pickup , we don't want offers to cart rice and stuff all over the country.

I'd like to spend a bit of time looking on line but I'm not sure that's it's helpful.

    Can anybody recommend anything?

    TIA

Wife's family live between sisaket and Ubon
  2. This is very bad, I can't imagine how I would react in this situation.  THe loss off a pet is one thing, but to experience it in this manner with your peers as the perpetrators!  it's going to take a lot of healing.   Maybe a replacement dog, the biggest dog you can find.

  3. Thanks Brian, I will invest in the best surge protector I can find. I thought having the transformer closer would giver a stronger supply as in being able to run machinery and air conditioning. Is there anything also I can do to improve the supply and or safety?

We built the lovely home a couple of years ago in sisaket, across the river from Kantararoom. We have had two power surges that have blown the lights to pieces, nearly starting fire, a surge protector didn't seem to work. Shutting off after the blowouts. The house is 5 of the High Voltage poles from a transformer, about 500m To 1 km. Along with a lot of neighbours wiring I am guessing that this is too far and we should get a transformer at the pole out the front of the house. I am not there at present and took pictures that's to google street view.

  5. My sister in law (thai)has married an Australian and about to apply for partner provisional visa.

She has one son aged 14.

The sons father(thai) has been distant for many years and last contact over two years ago, it will be difficult to track him down.

To avoid any child smuggling we must provide

"Certified copies of documents to verify custody and access arrangements, for children under 18"

We have Form 1229 Consent to grant an Australian visa to a child under the age of 18 years.

will this for meet the requirements ?

Along with both certificate with mother named?

    What else could we do?

I would have thought this was a reasonably common situation, but I couldn't find any other post, I did look.

    Thanks for any help

  6. Wow Fantastic repliers. Thanks for the insight. Especially evidences of what can go wrong, I was hoping to enclose 1 rai but it think the budget will just be the front fence for now. I was thinking about the stainless on the top but I rather not have it, just keep it low at the front and fortify that back later. I might go for a bougainvillea /bamboo/ wire combo down the side and back. that will do for a few years.

  7. Hi all, I am trying to find out the cost of the standard block fence, about 5 blocks high pylons? Or whatever they are called, the sticking up bit about 8 blocks high about 3 meters apart. Rendered and painted. I know it could be ver varied but a good guesstimate would be appreciated. And I don't know the appropriate forum but it's in sisaket. could there be a price for 100 meters? I am not in the country but I will try and make calls.
