Good luck, i'ts a nite mare,I tried to bring my 34 year old nephew out for a 3 month visit, but because he's a paddy farmer with no bank records , no traceable monthly income, rejected twice, even tho I garantee return ticket, accomadation, keep, there <deleted> to deal with, unless there from rich family.

S.S, Did you try a family sponsored Visa? Form 1418 1149. Lodged in Australia.

I am submitting one today for Father in Law 55 years old .

Fingers crossed he will get Three months.

I thought it might be scrutinized differently to the standard tourist visa.

  3. Hey David I didnt say that I am in Australia, so certifying a copy is dead easy cop shop, pharmacicts, etc.

And we then lodge it here in Australia.

The difficulty is getting the things done in Thaikand with me and my wife here in Australia.

As my fatrher is not competant with technology such as email and photo copiers, we waited till my wife sister was in town(BKK) to do for him.

And now she says everything is closed for 4 days for candle thing.

  4. Its extrordinary how hard it seems to get a certified copy that is valid for Australia done in Thailand.

I didn't get a satisfactory anwer on the phone from DIBP /DIAC /IMMI. I know thats a numbers game, you just have to ring back untill you get a competent person.

But the best solution I can think of is to have him post his passport here and I will take it down to the local cop shop and get a copy certified.

As I was going over to escort him here i'll just bring it with me.

The three signature required can be printed out by sister in law and he can sign them and send them with his passprt an photo.

    It seems the easies solution.

Now to find out the best post service, DHL or otherwise?

  5. Thanks Will.

He is 54 I think, we will have to get a certified copy of his passport, (never used, just got it) and a photo sent over.

I have worked out that we will also have to lodge form 956.

The application asks for few questions that require guess work like all his siblings names and date of birth.

I wonder how much funds will be necessary to have in his bank will $1000 do?

The fact that his son and daughter grandson and wife(not official wife) will be staying in Thailand is about the only other evidence I can come up with that he will be returning to back home.

And where would I record this? On the last page for additional information?

  6. My Thai wife, now a permanent resident will be sponsoring her father to come to Australia for holiday. Him using form 1418 and her using form 1149. Does anyone have experience this. I'm wondering how strong a case we need. Eg translated and certified copies of land ownership to Indicate he will return and proof of funds ? I just don't want to put a ridiculous amount of effort into something that may by given comparatively easy.

  7. went there early September and could only view the temple at the distance.

Not allowed to take photos up at the edge of the of the military post, but if you drop a few baht in the donation box you'll be invited to snap your pictures.

The Cliff tops were still great and the coolest place with a lovely breeze that I found nowhere else.

One tout was renting binoculars but there were adjustable and a refund had to be sought.

A very short man was offering photos, taken and printed. this was a great service has we had family with us that we wanted to give some photos to.

As for getting through to Cambodia, we were told by thai military no Thai can cross but maybe farang could try, as Cambodia may be willing to accept.

I didn't try as with Laos border its cost prohibitive just for the exercise.

I would like to use this crossing for a trip to Siam rep but maybe the one at surin/ sisaket will be better roads,

  8. Hi. I need to have quite a bit of work done, a few extractions and a few fillings, possible root canal.

I was just wondering if they would be using a modern x-ray machine that brings it up on the computer screen within a minute or two,

or do they use they old photo negative ones.

It would be handy if I could get this done in Ubon or Sisaket, when on my yearly visit.

and do you think I could get in if I booked just a few days ahead,

    Thanks for any help.

  9. Thanks for all the help, I am just seeing construction via email pics. Apparently they went back and tied every second one, which is probably not as good for security but good for access ourselves which I hope is more likely to be necessary .

  10. Hi,

we are just having the roof tiles put on, the concrete double hump type.

Father in-law said they have not been tied properly sometimes only one in five, he says he used to tie everyone, probably overkill. Builder says that every second one should be tied.

    Wife said something about glue.

    Any one have a idea? I haven't a clue.

  11. Do you think there is any advantage to bringing power tools,. Beiing 240 volt in Aust, can that be a problem with Thai 220 volt, if thats what it is.

Would the price of Makita vary much to buy new in Thailand. What about the cheap stuff, and need to bring that over?

  12. Thanks Will,

I suppose it comes down to the indinduals interpretaion of "substantial". What is for some may not be for others .For me visiting your parents that could not come to your wedding is fairly substaial. She also has avery sick Aunt to visit, and help with the purchase of a house.

Could it be a combination of these?

I didn't want to cop a rejection as secondary application will just look like I came up with a better reason.

BTW do you think embassy staff all read this Forum? I would.

    Thanks

    David

  13. I year ago when we lodged ours the waiting time was told to be 6 months. I was hoping for it to be sooner but turned out to be 6 months to the day

I too would rather lodge a complete application but In hindsight i would have applied for a tourist visa as well to break up the waiting time.

I think you may need a police check from every country she has lived in for more than 12 months in the last 10 years.

  14. My Thai Wife came to Australia on a prospective marriage visa, we got married and then lodged the application for Temporary Patner Visa.

Until this is granted we are given a Bridging Visa B. for 6 months or so

She would like to go to Thailand visit her family for about two weeks But we need to apply for a visa 1006 so she can get back again.

I am wondering if these are likley to be refused or restricted.

I have rang and asked them but I got very little information

Has anyone had any experience with them?

    Thanks

  15. I have been using the HST for about 4 months and am just at the beining of the vacab lessons, I had a bit of trouble trying to use the Anki on my notebook after saving it on a stick, but i got there eventually. Also my work PC doesnt want to play the Anki . But it works well on my home PC. I can not compare HST as this is my first real attempt at learning another language, and my brain is really hurting with the vocab lessons but I'm sure thia is a reflection on me not HST.

So far I do think it is fantastic, I printed out all the letters and stuck them on the wall at home and this helped a lot.

My mind boggles at the amount of work that must have gone into this.

For me it has already been worth the money.

  16. Hi,

We have made it past the interview. It took exactly 3 months to get the interview and it went well.

They said just wait about 4 weeks for a phone call with good news.

It has been a trial thus far and I think i can see some light at the end of the tunnel,

but could they still ask for more documents at this stage?

And would 4 weeks be about the current waiting time?

A big thank you to the people on Thai Visa Forum that have help me survive the ordeal.....so far.
