  1. So i'm having my condo renovated later this month and next week taking up about 25sqm of parquet flooring.

Is there any value to this, if so where should i start looking with regards to selling it?

I'd be quite happy just to get couple of thousand baht, dreaming?

    Thanks for help folks.

  2. So spent Christmas day down land office doing title deed transfer and i've got the title deed in my name. What i dont have is a Tabian Baan or electric book? The seller (who's overseas) got his sister to do the sale but she forgot about the Tabian Baan, and she says it might be in another province.

Regarding electric book my friend says each electric meter in the block has it's own book registered to the owner of each Condo, sellers sister knows nothing about this.

Am i going to have any trouble with this? Can i just go to elec dept and Amphur office with my title deed and get a new Tabian Baan and elec book.

Want to start renovation soon and rather have all this stuff before start.

    Thanks in advance

  3. O.K. people i'm stressing loads as i cant find the answer to this, due to most people spending considerable more than myself on a condo.

I've been working in Indonesia for past year and having Indo rupiah paid into my local Thai acc,

The condo is only 1.2 mil baht and it's time to pay, so from what i gather i don't need a T.T.3 (FET) certificate because its less than $50,000 usd, but will need a certificate from bank saying the money has come from overseas and been converted into Thai baht?

In other forums i've seen people say that the money has to of come from my own acc outside of Thailand, can anyone confirm this?

And am i now in a difficult position to buy this condo?

As with my previous post, a BIG thanks in advance for your help.

  4. I've been married for little over a year and have the 1yr multiple entry non immigrant "O" visa, expiring soon.

I'm looking at doing the 1 year extension with 400K in my bank and marriage papers, a friend of mine says when you go to immigration office they ask for your address and a map of where you live, (sounds like they want to send someone round), can anyone confirm if immigration have been round to check on their marriage after applying for an extension?

    Thanks in advance

  5. Onnut currently dry. Earlier went up to soi 46 and dry all the way.

This is a pretty good site, in Thai but pretty straight fwd to understand. Couple of reports of water Srinakarin end of Onnut but doesn't look too serious: http://www.gamling.org/#_=_

*deleted - that discussion is closed, DO NOT DERAIL THIS THREAD*

Does anyone have any info about Soi Onnut (Onnuch) near the Sukhumvit end?

  6. I don't understand the SERIOUS bashing some people are getting for what sounds like a genuine concern as to whether they'll get in trouble for volunteering.

I mean the Tsunami which was a natural disaster that makes this flooding seem trivial in comparison, had farang getting in trouble for breaking immigration rules, there clearly was none of this "turning a blind eye and appreciation" by immigration officials some of you are talking about.

Sounds like a reason, to possibly be concerned.

    Sorry i do get it.

People doing the bashing are AR%*H@LE's and clearly superior to anyone else.

Careful, with that huge head of yours you might capsize the boat your helping from.

  7. Yeah but the Thai's didn't have any involvement in Europe during WW2 and sided with Japan so why should they care what happened. The only people who care are the one's who have been affected, clearly displayed by this British parents comments:

A British parent added: 'It could have been worse. They could have been marching to the 'Horst Wessel Song or Bomb Oh Bombs on England."

The last world war ended 66 years ago, most of the comments seem to be from people who not only had no part nor had a close family member who had a part in the war?

Even worse making light of such an atrocity.. I dare sat that nearly EVERYONE had someone in their family history that had some involvement in the war regardless..

  8. Haha pretty funny but not that surprising.

All Europeans are appalled by what happened because it was on our, (Europe's) doorstep, and it's quite likely might know someone who was involved fighting the Nazis.

Fact of the matter is Thailand is the other side of the World and during 1940's other side of the world is even further than it is now, Thailand was also under Japanese occupation which led to Thailand declaring war on U.K. and America, what was going on in Europe probably seemed insignificant.

You will probably find as little knowledge about Nazis/ Hitler in any other S.E. Asian country, i mean in 2005 Prince Harry (3rd in line to the British throne) dressed as a Nazi at a fancy dress party and just made an apology, what do you expect from a school in Chiang Mai, lets just get over it.

Girls pose in 1st pic is spot on though.

  9. Sorry can we edit your last sentence to: What stupidity Thailand continues to display and how inept these mindless are.

Ah Thailand - the new hub of double standards! In a country of total gender confusion, guys with boobs and indoor plumbing, women with girlfriends, ladyboys, queens, giks and meanois on every middle income, well to do, businessmen arms as well as many politicians and police? Get a life? What stupidity Thailand continues to display and how inept these mindless complainants are. angry.gif

  10. No it's true, serious crime has gone through the roof in the U.K. and research shows it started with some girls topless sunbathing in Hyde park.

Beetlejuice probably thinks kids rob banks so they can inject cannabis.

I watched the uncensored video and it is still out there.

This is extremely bad for the country's image around the world.

It has the semblance of the Brits loutish behaviour in the Spanish holiday resorts.

It is simply done in bad taste and should be kept in the bars. In fact these girls have brought the bar culture out onto the streets in full view of children and for the world to see.

A 500 baht fine is a joke for lowering Thailand's image to rock bottom.

I guess that the pillocks who uploaded the video onto the Internet are shiteing their pants right now and the girls claim to fame has backfired on them.

    You are joking, i hope..........

No I am certainly not joking.

This event may seem harmless enough, but this leads to other things and sooner or later becomes more extreme.

For example, in Britain young teens and thugs have practically taken over the streets and this is exactly how it all starts if rules are relaxed.

Personally I don't want to see too many Western influences in Thailand, I love the country just the way it is.

Boundaries need to be drawn otherwise it will lead to the demise of the whole of Thai culture, just as what has happened in the UK.

I am not a prude or in anyway against this sort of thing, providing it is done at the right places, only for adults and not as a public spectacle for all and sundry.

    sure you certainly are joking

  11. Was encouraging news, just spoke to Hull they said "Resident permit" doesn't count for anything because it's only a temporary form. Purchasing a Condo won't entitle you a type "O" either.

I asked why the change, she just said Thailand didn't want so many of these (type O) visa's being given out.

Marriage is the only way to get this visa, looks like trips to Nana will be stopped :-(

But Back to the OP, I have a friend who has just contacted Hull and has had some clarity on the situaition about Resident Permits.

HULL WILL ISSUE A NON 'O' VISA IF YOU CAN OBATAIN A 'LETTER OF RESIDENCE' VALID FOR 60 DAYS FROM YOU LOCAL IMMIGRATION.

This is the same Letter you get when doing you driving licence, buying a car etc.

IT IS NOT THE SAME AS A RESIDENCE PERMIT!!! THE WORDING THEY USE IS THE CONFUSING BIT!!

If you not sure make some calls to them but this info is correct at time of printing this.

    hope this helps :D

This is encouraging news! Thanks for posting.

  12. Although what you claim is a small percent involved in the sex industry the fact is it's right under everyone's noses, so much so that people tend to think the number involved is that much higher, without doubt tolerated because police get paid from the bar owners and it generally generates alot of $$.

Those who are blind to this are the most horrendous prudes, my GF asked my friend not to hang her bikini on our gate because of what the neighbors would think and it's evident that public displays of affection are not cool.

When i first arrived in Thailand i seem to remember being told as a male you must never walk round bare chest/topless in BKK it offends the locals and sometimes you hear about a farang being harrassed by police to put their shirt on. You wont see it at this time of year because it's "FREEZING" but any other time of year going round BKK and you will see lots of old Thai men topless, it's clearly a different set of rules for the farang.

..... and the lady went back to her stall to sell the porn dvd's i bet.

Some things you just couldnt make up in Thailand, how is it so acceptable to sell SEX and SEX DVD's but showing a bit of flesh on the beach or surrounding area is frowned upon. Is it one rule for Farangs and obne rule for locals here ?

What a broad-sweeping generality. If you broadened your horizons beyond sex you'd realize that only a small percentage of Thais are involved in sex-related commerce and most are indeed offended by public nudity. It is their country and culture you know.

  14. I believe in "do for others as one would do for oneself", it's simple rule of humanity but Karma is bullshit.

Karma was created thousands of years ago buy people who were to wet to kick the S*&T into the person responsible for whatever and not feel like they've been had, "he'll get what he deserves, but i'm not going to do it" WET.

Only complacent hippies believe in Karma. How about Thanon Kittikachorn. He massacred Thai students in the 70s and went on to live to the ripe old age of 94. Karma, likes ghosts, just does not exist.

Your assumption is that living here till 94 was a prize? You have not considered that maybe the prize was withheld from him many extra years and many extra lives yet to serve.

spot on - the poster does not understand karma

Exactly, to some there are worse things than death.
