1. We will update it. Thank you for pointing that out.

And a suggestion about the lessons, if we double the hours per week, we will do the Book 2 EVERY ONE WEEK! (now it takes 2 weeks).

We are going to be crazy. It is already painful after 3 month to do the same book again and again! But doing it every week! Both teachers are students are going to have brain seizures!

I suggest to introduce conversation, like Monday : Book 2, / Thuesday : Pratice (conversation), / Thursday: Book 2: / Friday : practice (conversation)

That would be a relief.

The immigrations officials should move their ass from their office and really check the schools... the good school like Wallen should not be penalized because some are wrongdoing.

And at Wallen I do not see drug addicts like the original law in Thai suggest it. Only normal student, and classroms are full.

The immigration officials are lazy, they can easily find which school are fake, one of them is just sitting inside the Immigration office! Send a guy asking they sell you lessons and tells you that you don't have to go to the classroom, they even sell driving license for 45k baht delivered to your room! , just inside the immigration office at the copy machines! Close the bad ones, instead of taking a commission on them, and let the normal student having fun in Thailand without the burden of been considered like drug addict or criminals!

2. New rules enforced in Pattaya, today panic at Wallen. They have to change the time for the lessons, the teachers are disoriented, it is totally crazy.

I applied in November, rent for 1 year and now I learn that my visa will stop 6 month early, I will have to pay more lessons, I will learn 4 days a week.

If some immigration official read this: it is a shame.

We do not come study here to be locked at the school all week. We want to visit Thailand too. Because we can learn English in UK too. But we came in Thailand to enjoy the country. With the traffic in Pattaya it takes I spend 4 hours total door to door. So now I cannot go to the beach at Sattahip and come back... I am very limited like in prison, because I cannot go 3 days in a row.

It SUCKS! Plus now I will have to spend 2x more lessons, that's about 50,000 plus go 2 times in Ventianne? NO WAY.

And please fix the water machine the the consulate in Ventianne, no water under the sun waiting 4 hours, the ticket system not working, not enough seat so we had to sit... on the floor inside the consulate!

It is disrespectful, no country in the world is doing this. And I learn that in Chiang May, they have 1 year, in Samui 3 months? Where in the world there the student Visa is not the same depending on what city you stay?

It is sloppy.

Thailand spit at the face of the foreigners... I am shocked.

And if I must go in 2 months, I loose my rent deposit! 16,000 baht, who is going to pay, me! <deleted>, I am so f.cking upset right now.

3. The exact address is: Soi Sukhumvit-Pattaya 50/1, Muang Pattaya, Amphoe Bang Lamung, Chang Wat Chon Buri 20150

A hell to find it, better ask a taxi motorbike from the Central Pattaya police station, they know it very well.

They asked me 1000 baht, but it is not clear what was it exactly. I think it is not by day, maybe it is a fixed amount period.

They also kept all my keys and given me only my scooter key.

No more apartment key, scooter security, back box, etc... I still don't understand why they are doing that.

4. The police told me it is off Sukumvit.

But anyone has the exact address or can pinpoint on the map so that I can find where exactly?

Also how much they charge per day? I am hurt and don't see myself taking the scooter now, so I would like to keep it there until I am valid enough to drive it. However if they charge 1000 baht a day, that will be another story!

5. I must say that in the View Talay 5D more than 50% of the rooms are empty shells. It is a total nightmare.

The main problem is that the rooms are not finished like in normal countries. There is no floor and the walls are rough. So each time a customer buy a condo, you get 1-2 months of heavy duty renovation. Nothing to do like if you change the floor in our normal countries, they basically have to do what the builder didn't bother to do, like scratching the concrete on both walls and floor etc. this involves very noisy tools .

Staying in a condo long term in Thailand is a total nightmare. I have moved so many time because of these problems, and house are sometime worse, because of the dogs and the crazy people listening music like discotheque at any time of the day or night.

Thais are so <deleted> noisy, it is incredible that such a country can find so many people buying condo and properties there.

I guess I will again have to move and loose my deposit again!

6. I have a one year contract for a room in the View Talay 5D.

I am here for 5 months but I had renovations all the time. Starting at 9pm end at 4-5pm.

It's been 3 days now that another renovation is happening just close to my room. It is impossible to stay in the room all day.

How is it possible?! I cannot re-negociate the price of the monthly rent based on the fact I cannot stay in the room in the day?

My girlfriend is sick with fever, and this noise is really horrible. How can I get out of this?

7. I just call the Embassy, have to wait mid October to just get an appointment to start the process, this not includes +2 months to get the papers done, so 4 months minimum just to get the certificate... <deleted>?

Do you suggest I move to Cambodia with my girlfriend? I went to Penang already, nice place, 2 hours from here.

But I really want to stay in Thailand

Je parle en Anglais car la regle sur ce forum est de poster en Anglais, sinon ils effaceront le thread.

Go to Cambodia . I guess ur French Lol . I m also French u can go Cambodia and take visa 20 dollar 30 day + another 30 days or take business visa 25$ u can extend to 1 year . I have friend girl Khmer in Phnom phen . She can help u for find room u can find easy guest house in siem reap or Phnom phen under 10 dollar day .or u can ho Malaysia to Penang u dnt need visa ur France u can stay 3 month just take look how much guest house for make ur budget

Why l need permission is French rules

Certificat de capacite de marriage . If ur French u need it .its rules

8. I was in the process to get married with my gf and after I fixed the 400,000 baht requirement, and everything else, I bump on the French Embassy and their requirement to authorize me to get married in Thailand.

First why I need to ask permission? Am I not supposed to take this decision with my future spouse and big brother should stay out of my personal affair?

Then, they ask a lot of documents, where I live in France, my taxes etc... well is this related to marriage? In my case I am 10 years out of France and do not do any business in France, so how I can answer to these questions?

I thought it was just a matter to check if I am married already which I am not and can be verified very easily!?

Finally, they ask 2 month delay minimum (but can be whatever more!)... then where I will stay and with which Visa if they take all this time?

This is totally awful, does anyone here went to this process and is there a way to expedite it?

Here is the sh*t for the ones who can read French: http://www.ambafrance-th.org/IMG/pdf/mariage_2013.pdf?4243/49f8e02127039f81b87b69c622987ac516419e94

9. I would like to update this thread because it seems that there are a lot of missunderstanding.

First, yes it is possible to go to a consulate outside of Thailand and get a visa without any question asked.

The problem will be the extension of Stay. This is where they will ask for the money in the bank. So having the visa doing a border run does not guarantee to stay in the country more than a tourist visa, that means 3 months.

Also the Marriage visa is a huge pain in the ass about getting the certificate from your embassy. The French Embassy is asking a minimum delay of 8 weeks! And they as a LOT of papers with a personal interview of you and your future spouse.

The fact that an embassy may refuse you to be married oversea is over the top, this all about control and power. What they ask to get married is ovrhelming and have nothing to do with you and your spouse relationship.

I am a bit puzzled by this. I though that I just had to get a certificate saying that I am not married and that's it. In reality, some people you don't know will judge you and your spouse and decide if you can be married or not?!?

Am I right on this, anyone got a marriage experience that was more easy and do not need to go `10x time in BK, wait in the queue for 2 months and be at risk to be denied?

10. Year I have been living without saving too much, but I think I can find the 400,000 after all if I really need.

The solution at the LAOS embassy is my preferred one. I am surprised it is working actually. Better not advertise it too much if it does.wai2.gif

I have also a friend who is living in Ubon and has the same problem, he works on computer from home, but he has a kid with his gf and will marry her in order to be able to stay, because all the other doors are closing one by one.

I only hope that they will not strengthen the marriage visa and law to the point that it will be impossible for normal people having a normal pension or salary to marry a Thai girlfriend.

U earn 80k a month, save some every month and eventually u will have the dosh especially if you put it in the bank each month.

Thats what I am doing.....think longer term

Regards from disenchanted

11. Thanks for having read my post entirely ;) yes I was in ED visa and I want to switch to marriage visa due to the hassle they put on us. It doesn't make sense for me after 4 years to attend a school 4 time a week (new fine rule!). I rather want to marry my girlfriend who deserve it.

As I said I make this money from an oversea business, not in Thailand. I just live here because my gf is here, and I love it here.

When is read "having explored all the visa options, it seems that the Marriage visa is the one which makes the more sense" and "I make about 80,000 baht monthly, and I am doing that for at least the 4 years I am in Thailand permanently."

I understand the OP may only have a tourist or education visa right now, and he got this money while staying in Thailand for 4 years without work permit, so I'm not sure it's wise to show the bank book for the 80,000 Baht he earns monthly to apply for a marriage visa. Or maybe I'm just mistaken.

12. No I do not work in Thailand, I make money oversea with a business located in the US.

I only transfer part of my salary every 2 weeks in Thailand.

I make about 80,000 baht monthly, and I am doing that for at least the 4 years I am in Thailand permanently.

Since you are working in Thailand you should be able to get a one-year extension of stay for the reason of employment. No need to get married for this.
13. I heard about this... I can rent a car and do it like a holliday trip, my gf is from Ubon so, it sounds a good option.

Thanks for the tip!

Another option and VERY easy ( besides the travel hassle ) is suvannakhet, Laos Thai Consulate. They do NOT require financial proof ( 400k or 40k a month ) and no need to take pictures of u and wife together in the house and outside etc.

You arrive there in the morning ( before 11am ) and drop off:
- Application with two pictures
- copy of your passport
- copy of wife's id, signed by her
- copy of wife's house book, also signed by her
- copy of marriage certificate ( bring original in case they ask to see it )

Come back at 2:30pm and pick up your multiple - O visa.

I just did this 3 days ago.

14. Is this has to be done in BK or Pattaya is ok too?

I have been renewing my annual marriage visa for 30 years now. I know for sure that having 400,000 Baht in an account untouched for 2 months before applying for a visa is a fullproof way of getting the visa.

No need for a lawyer. If you have all the documents and all the photocopies, you'll be in and out within 15-20 minutes, at least at Bak Nam Samuthprakarn.

15. Wow, great answer, thanks a lot. Do you think I need an attorney for doing the marriage + visa or it can be done by myself?

When you are married you can get a 12 month extension with 400,000 Baht in a thai bank.
OR 40,000 Baht a month income.

A Rough Guide.
(1) The alien has obtained a temporary visa (NON-IM)

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

Letter from your Thai Bank showing balance and up to date bank book.
OR.
If income from outside Thailand: Letter from your Embassy showing income. Now may also need proof of income as back up.
If Income from Thailand: Statements showing Income Tax receipts.
Marriage Certificate. (Kor Ror 3)
Marriage Registry entry. (Kor Ror 2)
Wife's Tabbien Baan and ID Card.
Your Passport.
Copies of everything.
Photos of you and your Wife in and around the house.
A map showing the way to your house.
Passport size photos and 1,900 Baht fee.
Take your Wife to be interviewed.
One or two witnesses may be required.
You will be given a 30 day under consideration stamp.
Go back in a month and get the remainder.

16. Here is the situation, having explored all the visa options, it seems that the Marriage visa is the one which makes the more sense, since I am with my gf for 3 years and we love each other. She don't want me to go and me too.

Now the problem is that I do not have the cash sitting in the bank. I make about 80,000 baht monthly, and I am doing that for at least the 4 years I am in Thailand permanently.

So I can show my bank book with the income I get for these past 4 years.

The problem is: are they going to accept that? Is anyone here who was in the same situation?

Thanks
