  1. It is too bad that so many know so little and think they know so much...Having been in the fire service in CA USA for 30 years, I can say that any major city in the world can suffer major highrise fires at any time, and the firefighters hate them. I also think the Thai haters should go back to wherever they came from. I can recall many highrise fires like MGM Las Vegas and a major hotel in Sao Paulo Brazil that challenge fire departments around the world. Thanks for the hard work firefighters!!!

  2. Chavanont said this has clearly demonstrated the government's incompetence, particularly concerning foreign and security policies.

He also said that if it were in power, the Democrat Party would have deported the suspects without giving the foreign embassies time to release the warnings, which has affected the international community's confidence in Thailand.

Chavanond also pointed out that the government has also provoked Hezbollah, a Muslim militant group, by accusing it of being behind a possible terror plot.

He believes this may involve Thailand in an international conflict.

The single suspect..the other is still at large...was arrested as he was leaving the country, not entering...so he had time to do whatever he was planning on doing. Also the arrest was made with the US, Israel, and Thailand, so deporting before the embassy could issue a warning is BS.

Thailand entered into a trade agreement with Iran last year...and they think this involves them in an international conflict.

  3. I can see no use for 28 airborne radar platforms in flood control????

If they are expecting a large number of aircraft working the flood zone, then one or two to do air traffic control might be helpful.

Maybe she is planing on having them fly up the rivers so the turboprop wash moves more water to the sea! Makes as much sense as the boats

  4. Just did a speedtest.net Test:

This is in Ubon with 3bb on a purchase 8 mb download: Down: 4.12 (was as low as 1.89 in the last two hours Up: .57

And this is with Bangkok as the test site.

With a US host (Los Angeles, CA) it is 3.86 and .15

Don't think I am getting quite what I paid for!!!

Think you need talk to head office. Mine went down a few days ago and they sorted it, speaking English. Strange l get 6 mb every day. Upload varies though. On the test for upload it wizzes up to 1 mb for a while then drops to 127kb, and shows that as upload speed. On Picasa l can send a dozen photos via email that takes a few seconds. :)

After my wife going down to the local office many times the girls finally admitted and told her that i download too much and for want of a better expression I have been capped.

    Lucky me.

Capped would be one thing...if they set a REASONABLE level and capped the speed...but 28 download on Fileserve using JDownlaoder is not reasonable. Now what can we do about it????

  6. My comment is based on from the perspective that I am a retired Fire Chief from the US. Most insurance fires happen in the middle of the night or on a weekend with no one around, and the building is complete ablaze with the first tire units arrive. Seldom is an insurance fire set with people around, and injuries/death are a major exception.

With construction under way, anything might have happened....and then again revenge fires are often set with the intend to harm persons and property...just a thought.

  7. I have a suggestion for your banking concerns.

Open a Bangkok Bank Savings account, and get internet banking with that. It is easy to use!

While still in the USA, open an ING Orange Savings Account. It also has internet banking. After 30 days you can attach up to three other accounts to your Orange account.. This includes your Bangkok Bank savings account (even though it says a few places that it has to be a checking account). Also attach your checking account from your current or any other US bank.

Now, by internet, you can move your money from your US account to ING, and then from ING to Bangkok Bank. No transfer fees, no problems. Your money you move TO ING is available in seven days (interest paid from day one), and the money from ING to Bangkok Bank takes from 2-4 days (was five days once because of holidays) All the money is moved on the ING website both to and from ING.

Has been working well for me for three years, and no transfer fees. I get the exchange rate of Bangkok Bank on the day the money arrives.

  8. This had to happen. It probably a good thing. You'll "hopefully" see performance of voip, web mail, etc.. improve. Torrents are drain especially since most peers exists outside of TOT, if you look at an average torrent drainer using a steady 1mbit the economics just dont make sense. I cant even buy full transit routes on 1000mbit commits for < 550baht/mbit (or anywhere near that). So hopefully TOT stop, separate, or traffic shape them.

Ideally I'd like to see torrent drainer pay a massive premium. Part ignorance for most windoze users as the systray hides the little U, but wow imagine how fast the internet would be in Thailand without torrent drainers.

    Ends rant.

And where does it say that you choose what use of the internet is good, and what is bad??? If a customer pays his money, he should get the full service of the internet. If a provider can't provide the service, then they should get ou of the business.

I think e-mail takes up too much internet bandwidth, so it should all be shut down!! Makes as much sense as your post!!!
