Hi and welcome, Gisele! 5 years in China!! That is fascinating! I hope sometime soon you will have the time to tell us a bit about life in China In which city/region were you? How did you like it?

I think different age gaps apply to different couples. It's not always an indicator of how well a couple will do. In my case, I'm 8 years younger than my husband. For some people that's too much difference, but for us it works fine

Could it also be that western women are less inclined to move and settle down in say, Thailand?

Hi Rach I'm not sure which places to recommend to you since you have not mentionned your interests but I too would like to enlarge my circle of friends in Bangkok so if you wish you can always send me a PM via this forum and perhaps we can meet for a coffee sometime

Thanks so much for the welcome, Boo ! I understand your interest in my (actually not that interesting ) « situation » so I will try to answer your questions as best I can and as consisely as possible (if you have more questions, feel free to drop me a line via PM or email, or ask more via this thread)
Growing up a non-Thai Eurasian in Thailand was an overall enriching personal experience for me. Had I been half Thai, as your yet to be had children will be, I am sure it would have been the same. For one thing, I was exposed to more than one culture. I went to a non-Thai school but interracted a lot with Thai adults and kids outside of school. This permitted me to be able to make friends easily with Thais and non-Thais alike. I also ended speaking several languages, which is always useful. The downpart, at least in my own case, is this feeling I still have sometime of being a blend of all these different cultures that make me but not being able to identify fully with anyone of them. When I’m asked where I’m from, I often have a moment of hesitation
Cheers!

I was born here (non-Thai parents) and never really left!
I'm new to this board so I'd like to say "Hi!" to everyone and look forward to pleasant and informative discussions. Cheers!

Hehe!! Silly me! But then again, I phrased my question that way because it was my newbie understanding that this forum's mainly for the girls!
Well, I'll look forward to these boys & girls meetings!
Another newbie question: how do I stay logged in here??
