I find Chalerm the most shocking one. According to wikipedia they already seized 32 million baht in 1991. Now in 2014 he has 170 million baht. He had to have an average salary of about 7.7 million baht per year as a politician without spending a single dime.

How can this guy still walk freely in thailand without people calling him a crook in public. Even more shocking people keep on voting for him for more than two decades.

Because they are thai people and they are embarrassed to against the flow. Even if in this case it was the correct thing to do. They are not going to risk public embarrassment. Not even when they are 99% sure.

If they split how are the northern provinces going to get their funds? And without funds how are Shinawatras going to keep up their populist policies. Surely most taxpayers are bangkokians and big corporates centered in and around bangkok.

It has probably a little bit over a month since the elections were announced. I have not seen any campaigns at all or any debates on TV whatsoever. How can the people make an informed decision that they will have to live with for the next 4 years if parties haven't had time to explain their program to the people?

I have lent a substantial amount of money (around 70k) to 4 thai people. I never got a single dime back and I have lost contact with all of them ever since. They just stopped talking to me, changed phone numbers and stuff.
