  1. When I resigned from my old company and joined the new one in Thailand, the Old one informed BOI and Immigration office to cancel the position and Visa status and after that I got a extension of 7 days free of cost to get another visa from New Company or to leave the country....So pls. check with your company when the are putting this to Immigration office....once they put your docs to Immigration office, your Passport will get another stamp that your old visa is cancelled and you can now stay for a max. of 7 days (really it is 5 days, but assuming one sat and one sun, it is always 7 days.)....hope it'll help

That must have been some time ago. As of Oct. 2006 there is no more grace period of 7 days, you either leave the country or have to get an extension of stay for 7 days for which you have to pay 1,900 baht.

Right, I understand the same that there's no more grace period of 7-day stay.

Anyways, have I decided to leave the night time of my last day at work..

Can I just show the letter from my company at the Airport Immigration or do I need to go the Immigration Office in Chamchuree Square (where my visa was arranged)???

  2. You must obtain a letter from employer to present to Immigration and have them cancel your extension of stay on your last day of work. If you do not wish to leave immediately you may obtain a 7 day extension of stay at that time. Be sure to have a 4x6cm photo and 1,900 baht. The work permit should be returned just to be sure (some offices seem to not care but it could come back to bite if you wish employment again so best to do it now).

Thanks. Do I need to go to Immigration on my last day of work or can this be done a few days before?

  3. It is important to be sure you have a multi entry visa (you can only stay 90 days without leaving Thailand to obtain a new 90 day stay). If you have a one year extension of stay for work issued by immigration and only required to make address reports every 90 days the rules with be entirely different. Please advise if here on a 90 day stay or not.

I do have a one year extension of stay for work with re-entry permit (multiple). I do the 90-day reporting if I don't go on biz trips during this period. What will be the procedure in this case?

  4. I have searched regarding this topic and found some contradicting information. Hence, I would like to clarify and hopefully get some relavant info from those with recent experience.

I hold a Non-Imm B (multiple entry) valid until next Feb 2011 and the same for work permit. I just resigned and my last day of work will be on 30/07/2010. I plan to leave TH on 7/08/2010 to have some time to pack things, do some last shopping & arrange shipping of my things.

    My Questions:

    - Do I need a letter from my company stating my last day & resignation?

    - Do I need to return my work permit? [Previous posts mentioned I can keep it?]

    - Do I need to go to Immigration and cancel my visa? If so, will they give me the 7-day visa (free) or do I need to pay for this extension?

    Thanks in advance! :)

  5. Is the Statutory of Declaration a firm requirement for Prospective Marriage Visa (300)? I am arranging my papers and thought I needed to include this, but someone told me its for partner/spouse visa only. Can someone confirm this please?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi hUsh,

I believe when applying for a spouse/partner visa a statutory declaration helps to make your point stronger that you and your partner are in a serious, genuine and long-lasting relationship. With a prospective marriage visa you are making this point by declaring that you will marry your partner within a certain time frame. In my opinion this means that there is no additional stat dec neccessary.

    Good luck!

Thanks tominoz! I recheck the document checklist and StatDec wasn't mentioned there...

Aaahhh I am getting confused as I was reviewing the Form 40SP checklist at the end and the Stat Dec was mentioned again that should also be provided (not mentioning whether it's for Spouse/Partner or Fiance)..

Then on another paragraph was an additional checklist for Prospective Marriage Visa and it mentioned in the part of evidence of geniunely intending to live together in a spouse relationship should provide at least 2 statements from family/friends which sounds similar to Stat Dec. Is this just an ordinary letter written by famz/friends & is this really needed? or will the Stat Dec suffice? Appreciate if someone can clarify.

Also, for the photos, do I need to submit them in printed form or can I save them all in CD's or even a USB thumb drive? I have so many photos and would be easier to organize in soft files, but worried that the embassy wont accept this. Anyone with experience?

  7. Hi Bridge and gburns57au,

Thanks for your input! Yes we have been living together for 14 months and have also a detailed list of all events in our relationship from the day we met (July 2007) till now, highlighting all stages of this relationship. Also with our photo documentation we can proof those events are true.

Any tip on getting those documents certified?

Thanks a lot for your help.

As a Registered Migration Agent I am able to certify documents. I will be in Bangkok next Friday if that helps. If I can be of some assistance, please contact me by PM.

    Regards

    Bridge

just wondering is it mandatory to have personal statements (i.e, relationship details, photos, etc) to be certified by RMA?

  11. Not sure if there's any English mass for Christmas eve. I was informed that only in Thai mass for tonight and tomorrow (25th) at 10am English mass.

But there may be an English mass this evening at Holy Redeemer's church at Soi Ruamrudee, but not sure of the time. Sorry I guess not enough info.

    Merry Christmas!

    Hello,

Does anyone know where I can find information about services in English language in Assumption Cathedral on Christmas Eve?

    Many thanks,

    J

  12. I would recommend Somboon Restaurant... both Thai and foreign friends recommended it to me. You can have the Thai spiciness or not too much as foreigners would like it (I can eat the spiciness in between)

Also have the best (and IMO affordable) seafood in Bangkok.... It may not be the "authentic" royal thai cuisine (but closest it can get--- feel free to express opinions to the above mentioned restaurant)

  13. Sitting in a quiet cafe (if alone) just reading my books; (if with pals) chatting and browsing through different kinds of magazines....

If no good book to read, browsing bookstores...

    shopping (or just window shopping)

working out (atleast 3x a week)

browsing the net... recently got addicted to facebook :D

    ..nothing to exciting, aye?!?

    :o

  14. Is it better to go diving in/around Krabi that Phuket at this time of the year (mid-Sept)? Have yet to decided between Phuket and Krabi to do rescue diving course for my bf... Advise much appreciated and also recommendation for good diving schools in Krabi.

  15. Would it be okay to go diving to Similan around mid of Septmber ? How's the weather at that time?

    If not, any suggestions?

Also, any liveboard trips coming up that can do rescue diving course?

I wouldn't go in September - too much risk of bad weather and may be no trips scheduled anyway. Maybe the Wicked Witch or Sea Dragon or something would have a trip if weather is good and if they get enough customers. The proper season gets going during October with a full program from November - April.

Rescue course on a liveaboard - you have to understand that the Rescue course is about scenarios, surface skills, helping divers in distress - and not about just diving and looking at fish. I taught some Rescue courses on liveaboards and it was (excuse my straight talk) a pain in the butt. Better to do this course seperately - can certainly be done in Phuket in September - course involves some theory, some beach time or pool time and a day trip on the boat.

    Thanks for the info.

Any diving schools you can recommend for the rescue diving course?
