So what happens to anyone buying a condo. Has the price just gone up by 20/30% or whatever, thats going to have a pretty big impact on the new condo market!

I walk past their 7am most mornings. Its not tourists! Locals relaxing after working all night. A lot of them are ladyboys, yes they drink and play music (I don't think its that loud) along with some volleyball. Its quite funny watching tthe ladyboys in short cocktail dresses playing volleyball.

I feel a crackdown coming on!
Pity as Pattaya is just starting to get back to fun city.

I am currently having an issue with Thai customs and I wonder if anyone can tell me who is correct.
Last year I purchase two limited edition items in the UK (what they are is immaterial). They were only charged to my credit card and shipped to me last month. They already have the suppliers invoice and my credit card bill showing the matching date and amount. The price can be confirmed on several independent web sites as RRP (Recommended retail price).
However due to the limited availability of these items, scalpers are advertising identical items for roughly twice the price already on various sites.
Thai customs want to charge me duty on the price now being asked by the scalpers rather than the price I paid.
My question, should I pay duty on the proven price I paid or the current perceive value! These are collectors items and I have no intention of reselling them and it strikes me that customs are asking for duty on a perceived profit which I won't realise and (to me) they shouldn't be asking for, as most imports are marked up and resold in Thailand without customs asking for a share of the profit.
At the end of the day, they hold my shipment and I will probably have to suck it up and pay anyway. But I would like to know if people think I am right or not! (It makes me feel a bit better)

I had a problem with the fact your wallet has a fund limit which isn't mentioned.
Dec I ordered about 7K of stuff for me - No problem.
Week later I ordered 3 Oculus Quests for my 3 sons at Christmas - total 47K
After I placed the order my Lazada wallet took the 47K but I couldn't pay the supplier with the funds.
It turns out that Lazada wallet has a 50K per month max (which isn't mentioned anywhere on the site). But the really galling part was Lazada took my 47K then wouldn't pay the supplier then told me the money was frozen till January. So this left me trying to find another 47K to pay the supplier for my Kids presents and 47K locked in my wallet which I didn't need any more.
Last time I ever use Lazada!

From talking to various bar owners. This isn't going to kill the nightlife scene. Not all, but many larger places have let the staff go ( and the premises if they are forced to pay rent) and they are sitting on there money to reopen once they are allowed. I am 100% sure it will spring back quickly once it can (Even though it might change somewhat).
The only people this is truly hurting are the little people, mostly staff and small bar owners.
The main problem I see is the image of Thailand portrayed to the rest of the world by crippling the night life industry, leaves Thailand as a "me too" destination. There are lot's of beaches and temples and amazing food all over Asia. What differentiated Thailand from the rest was its fantastic Night Life (Not just Go Go Bars) and without this Thailand becomes just another voice in the crowd. They really don't get what made Thailand special and I think they will live to regret it!

I wonder what all the gaming platforms are going to do! My Kids buy Robux and Vbucks using Mums Paypal (with her permissions) as they can't use my English Paypal. It's going to cost the companies some serious revenue unless they provide another payment route.

Thanks for the info. Yes got it running in a browser on my TV eventually. (Not ideal)
Don't have a play box as I was told it would work on my Samsung TV with the AIS play app.
Obviously lost in translation somewhere. TiT
At least the kids can now watch Disney so I will wait and see what happens. The Mrs says lots of people are complaining about the fact it doesn't work natively on smart TV's.

Has anyone with a Samsung Smart TV (Which has the AIS Play app built in) managed to get Disney+ to work!
3hrs on the phone to AiS this morning and they don't seem to be able to tell me if this will work. We have signed up and it works on my phone (via a web browser but not the Disney+ app) and my laptop (again via the web page only, but thats it!
They won't admit it but I suspect the built in app won't work for some reason. Has anyone got this to work! Is it working for anyone on the AIS play box!
Only in Thailand would a company launch a new TV service that doesn't work on the TV!

Be vey careful. A few years go i did the same as the original poster is planning. When the money wasn't repaid I went to court and the nice judge gave me a letter which said the land was to be sold and the proceeds were to go to me! The result....... When the land was sold. The nice people at land office put out an arrest warrant for me for selling land by proxy, which is upto 2 years in Jail! Needless to say I managed to sort it out but it cost me a small fortune. All because I tried to help a Thai person!
They actually used the Judges letter as proof for the case!

Sounds fine making a policy that everyone goes to a field hospital.
So who will look after our Kids and Animals if me and my wife and I were to get Covid! Nobody wants to come and look after them if it means staying in a house where someone was sick!
This hasn't been thought through properly where dependents are involved!

The manufacturing plant here is new to producing vaccines. Makes me a bit nervous, especially when established plants in the US, making the J&J jab, just dumped 15MM doses due to a mixup.
Please replace bit with very. The words <deleted> up and brewery come to mind for some reason!

I bought direct from hubitat in the USand it arrived in 2 weeks no issue at all. Just select which z wave frequency and plug you want. I use uk.

Take a look at Hubitat. Its very flexible. No subscrition and it runs everything local which is great in thailand. It also has a huge helpfull active community and development team. My house is totally automated based on this.
-
Yes it is. Just setup a trading account with an online broker like Swissbank but there are plenty of others. It takes a week or two then my first deposit had to come from my UK acount but after that its up to you.

You have to admire the marketing of said product. Where boiled chicken bones become an exclusive must have product for so many Thais!

From my experience. Unless you pay big money most of the International schools employ Philippino Teachers as they will work for a lower salary. So most kids (including mine) speak American English with a Philippino accent! Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Sounds great for the Government in priciple. But how many more customs officers will then need to calculate all these few baht duty for each shipment and are they suddenly expecting all the carriers to collect the duty for them! I expect chaos to ensue before the policy is reversed.
