Last time I went to my favourite bar i managed 35K and thought that was excessive (It was my Birthday) until I looked at the hall of fame!. Who the hell spends 195K in 3 hrs! I would have though most of the staff would have been on the floor paralytic with that bill!

Last week we were on Ko Chang with the family (Mrs and 4 Kids) and it was so hot the Kids wanted to go to the waterfall for a swim which is National Park Property.
When we got to the ticket booth they insisted all 4 Kids were charged Falang price even though the eldest is 100 Thai!
When asked why the Mrs was told you married a Falang!
Needless to say, he got quite an earful. But he wouldn't budge.
I do my very best to avoid going anywhere near National Parks because of stuff like this. Just vote with your feet. Maybe one day they will get the message.

Would be interesting to know who does rent these devices....whatever...the commissions on 74M Baht would have been huge!
That works out at 18,000 baht each for 21 month rental! You can buy these trackers on amazon for about 7000 baht each. Nice little earner for someone especially. If you include the resale value for all the unused ones, somebody hit the jackpot!

VFS Visa UK rejected my wife's last Visa application because of this. They said they needed to feel the documents to ensure they were genuine and they couldn't do this if they were laminated. Apparently, this also goes for anyone applying for a British Passport at VFS as well.

Interesting. I have the same problem.
My hobby entails purchasing small parts from around the world, usually 500 baht or so from US, Europe Eastern Block and Asian Countries. On average I have 6 to 8 parcels a month coming from all over the world. In 5 years I lost only one. Until 3 Months ago when they simply stopped arriving. I have now lost 25 packages in the last 3 months and have stopped ordering anything. Unfortunately the value is so low its not worth insuring or sending via a carrier as it makes it too expensive, so I have just given up for now.

Lived in both. Roi Et hands down. Much more friendly place. Robinsons, KFC, Airport. Many good bars and restaurants including good western food around the lake especially Klaus at the white Elephant bar. and quite a lot of expats if you want to talk. Also its closer to BKK Pattaya etc.

I was in there last Saturday and the power went out. When the PEA turned up to fix it an hour later i watched them bypass the fuses on the pole outside by bolting the the wires together it was obviously a serious problem so mo surprise it went up in smoke a few days later!

Going to the UK next week. Usually fly Thai business class. Though I would look at Emirates to see if I could do better. Emirates first class (Own cabin, horizontal flat bad and shower facilities on A380 was cheaper than Thai business class by quite a big margin. Only down side is stop in Dubai. Thai airways really needs to step up its game if its going to survive.

Thanks rafo77 problem solved. Gone to an independent battery place. 2 year warranty 2800 baht.

Today I took our Chevrolet Captiva for service in Pattaya today. It is 18 Months Old.
They called this afternoon to say the Battery needs replacing as its almost dead.
I cant find anything about battery Warranty on Line but most WEB sites tell you that a battery should last a minimum of 3 years in a hot climate.
On top of that they want to charge a whopping 4700 baht for a new one.
I simply don't believe them and feel it should be a warranty job if it has failed that quickly.
Any suggestions!
Thanks

Hi,
Is anyone into Disco/Stage Lighting in the Pattaya area.
I have 8 DMX lights and am using Freestyler Software to control them. I understand the basics and have got them working Fine, but I am becoming hideously messed up try to program scenes that work correctly.
All I am trying to do is put together a series of push button scenes for a good disco light show.
If anyone can point me in the right direction it would save my poor head from exploding
Cheers

If ebola does reach Thailand i will be very worried. Given the US had trouble containing a single patient, what hope does thailand stand with its organisation skills!I fear it won't be long before it comes to Thailand

I agree. In the uk the place would be shut for health and safety and they would be talking years and x billion for repairs. In other words total drama. But in thailand eceryone just finds the easiest solution. TiT

I arrived at Ubon this morning and the main terminal building looks a real mess. Its going to take more than a mop and paint to clean it up. Lots of glass missing at the front of the building and the ceiling 2 stories up has come down.

Looking for a bit of advice please.
Wife and I are currently looking for a driver to take our 3 kids to school.
Driving our car. Needs to leave our house at 8 am it will take him 1 ½ hours in the morning and the same in the evening finishing about 4pm.
So 3 hrs a day 5 days a week.
Assuming we can find a reliable person. My question is: How much would you think we should pay him!
Answers we have so far range from 20,000 a month to 10,000 a month. I think even this is high, but maybe I am wrong.
Any thoughts please.

I was in the food hall in the basement of Central Chidlom a few months back. There was a very Hiso Thai Girl looking girl dressed to the nines with her high heels Guess Bag and what looked like a nice pair of shorts and white T Shirt. Quite stunning from behind. However, I guess she couldn't speak a word of English because when she turned round on the front of her T Shirt it said " Muff Divers Club, No Muff too Tuff". I laughed so hard she gave me a really filthy look, but it was worth it.

Thanks old git, that helps :jap:
As a British Citizen I have taken My Thai wife and more recently my Thai girfriend to the UK and almost always we visit Europe.
I have always found the French embassy hard work so usually now we go to the Belgium Embassy. Obviously they follow the same rules, but the staff in the Belgian Embassy at Sathon are friendly, respectful and will help all they can. Last time we submitted the papers and while we were ther the guy who actual says ya or nay came out to clarify a small point and just said OK no problem come and get the visa tomorrow.
All you need to do is go to visit Brussels first ans state that as your main destination. I think its a nicer city with better, cheaper food anyway. Then you are free to head for Paris or wherever.
Having said that, last time we went through the tunnel my girlfriend didn't have her passport checked once either way inspite of my stopping and waving her Thai passport at French and English Immigration officers. I am sure if we hadn't bothered with the Visa, murphys law says they would have checked.

Maybe the Thai Government should enlist the help of MOSAD! They seem pretty efficient at taking care of people who irritate them!
