  1. There's a big store near the Moon & Sun hotel which has a lot of arty stuff, it's called either Munich or Berlin. The road is the one going from the police station to King Mengrai statue, it's on the right hand side, worth a try.

I haven't 'found' that one. I'll certainly check it out. Thank you.

Had a look today in this store. No luck with the masking fluid, but lots of other arty stuff, so thanks for the directions.

  3. I wonder if anyone can help? I am looking for a product called 'masking fluid' (though 'copydex' glue will do as a substitute). It's a rubber latex liquid that you can paint on paper or canvas and then apply your paint over the top. When the painting is dry, you rub off the latex masking fluid with your finger to reveal the original paper. Often used in watercolour painting. Windsor and Newton produce one type. I have been in all the art/stationary shops in the centre of Chiang Rai (most of the ones I have found are in the roads between the two clock towers) but with no luck. Had a look at the hobby and the photography forum sites but there's nothing there. I visit Chiang Mai relatively often , but am willing to order it from anywhere if it exists in Thailand. Any suggestions for places I haven't looked would be welcomed.

  4. I am reliably informed that it is physically impossible for men to gossip. They interact verbally on a much higher plain. Any exchange of information involving another person's character is merely incidental to the main conversational thrust.

SD Thank you! Do you perhaps know what other kinds of visa need a border run every 13 weeks? I have an O-A

@ Jubby: Why do you think that because You know, the rest of the world also does?

I am a lawyer and as far as I know it is common that Everybody must know the law, from whatever country.. What do you know about the law from Your country? And how about Thai law? I know more about Thai law than most lawyers here in Thailand but that is my hobby those are my roots of studying. It also has to do because not One country has to invent the wheel again and just copy from other countries, besides that.. most of our (international) law is based on the Roman law And don't forget.. the Ten Commandments.

So trolling because I don't know?

Appologies, I just assumed ; wrongly, that everyone knew someone who did Border runs once in a while.

I guess I'm just a Rotten Pommie so and so .

As your a lawyer, I hope accusing you of being a Troll in jest is not a Capital Offence in Thailand or your country of birth . Can you ever forgive me !? :D

I'll just turn down my Keyboard sensitivity . There Done.

Where are you from by the way ?

    Appologies taken.

And Yes! Gossiping oral or written Is an offence in Thailand! Many people don't know and the road to court is long and expensive.

    I am from The Netherlands

OK, I guess its no Gossiping from now on then. If you catch me gossiping give me a gentle reminder. I'm just off to tell our 'Puyai Ban' about this Gossiping offence. My Village do nothing but Gossip :D

  5. KLM were excellent at looking after my dogs en-route to Bkk. All dog's paperwork was spot-on, in triplicate etc. Had notified the airport vet they would be arriving and when. Collected dogs in their crates and wheeled them along to veterinary inspection office. Seen by very courteous gentleman. No problems. Paid 1000 baht 'import fee' to the customs officials when leaving airport. Don't think you should have had the problems/expence you did.

    Hi,

after a long search for a aircompany who could bring my 2 dogs for a acceptable price from europe to Thailand(1000€ or 45.000 :o I finaly arrived at bkk with my dogs. Before I had booked a ticket also with thaiairways from bkk to Phuket on a flight 2.5 hour after arrival in bkk.

It took a whole mountain of difficulty to be able to get my dogs, a guy from cargo offered me some help and we run from one desk to another ..

finaly the 2.5 hours past bye .. and 1) still had no dogs, 2) next to price for flying the dogs to phuket (7.400 :D I had to pay the guy 41.000 B !!!

otherways no dogs .. I had no choice, had to check in, because all next plains were full and so I went away without even seeing my dogs. Finaly they arrived in Phuket 7 hours laters. They have been locked up in a box for more than 24 hours :-( and had cost me a lot of money

there was a paper that proved the costs of where importtax was 33.000 B ! + docter + taking care + this and that ..

Is this normal ? I never heard of people have to pay so much on arrival in bkk. also not one aircompany told me I would have to pay these taxes ..

anyone with the same expierence ? can I try to get my money back ?

    txs for help

    Chris in Phuket

  6. Their cuisine of choice is a large plant with strelitzia like leaves and large red flowers that grow straight out of the ground. I disrememebr the name.

    Sounds like a Torch Ginger

Atlas moths seem to be pretty non-discriminatory about what they eat, certainly don't seem to restrict themselves to what they are supposed to like.

  7. Sorry about the double post. The caterpillars photographed certainly look like Atlas moth ones, just not stretched out, full size, and from a slightly different angle to most 'official' portraits. I think you are spot on in your identification.

The closest I can find is Attacus atlas, the giant Atlas moth that we have a few pics of here.

    Not quite the same though.

  8. I think it may be the 'common (painted) bronzeback. Latin name : Dendrelaphis pictus. Ranges over most of tropical asia. Grows up to 145cm. Bronze/greenish tinged upper body and head etc. Lives on lizards, tree frogs and paddy frogs. Just a guess.
