It seems that you’ve concluded that because Spain has cheaper supermarkets and toiletries, it’s cheaper overall, despite Thailand having cheaper rents, fuel, electricity and water. You must use an extraordinary amount of toiletries!

I don't know about you, but I spend 2-3 times more on food than on rent, fuel electricity and water - which by the way is not that much more expensive in Spain.

Also: top medical care, extremely affordable, unlike in Thailand when you're older.

Learned a new word today -- cisgender.... I guess I've been leading a sheltered life:

I was scared there for a minute before finding the definition, thinking that Beals had declared herself some kind of new and different sexual orientation beyond those I was already aware of!

But at the end of the day, she's just a boring (not so old) straight woman!

Hah! The word "cisgender" is a recently invented term (1994 first usage) by "woke" people to create the myth that basically you were haphazardly assigned a gender at birth just by looking at your genitals without taking into account that later on in life some people might not feel fully at home in the gender they were assigned to. This seems to occur to about 1% of total population, and instead of just accepting it as a normal thing (hello kathoy thai ladies) they make a big fuss about it and insist on being seen and accepted as women. In the U.K. people even get sent to jail if they don't comply with this imbecilic notion.

Since then so-called "trans-women" have domineered at female sports (duh), there have been nasty incidents in women prisons and girl locker rooms, and what have you.

This madness should be put a halt to. Mental instability should not be catered to in this way.

  3. From Trat they go every day, several times. there are 3 different companies, only 2 of them will drop you of at Subernabhumi, either at the bus station there or directly in front of the terminal.

Departures around 09.00 and 11.00, and sometimes in the afternoon. I would suggest arriving in Trat the day before, and get a ticket for the next day: sometimes they are sold out, this is a very popular line.

The OP said "serious head wound."  I accept that any wound to the head could be serious, but the use of the words "head wound" and "head injury" have different meanings.

Head injury infers a brain injury.

    You stand corrected, sir:

A head injury is any sort of injury to your brain, skull, or scalp. This can range from a mild bump or bruise to a traumatic brain injury. Common head injuries include concussions, skull fractures, and scalp wounds. ... A closed head injury is any injury that doesn't break your skull.

Luckily for the foreigner, there were witnesses, and he will be covering his own damage and medical bills, but what if he was to lose a leg, or sustain some other catastrophic injury, the Thai guy should bet charged with serious driving / riding offenses, not matter how much, or how little money he has.

Please allow me to laugh politely, and wish you happy further dreaming...

  6. Going to the Netherlands can also be done on EU rules, since you are Dutch, and have lived abroad. Your wife does NOT have to go the MVV path, you can just come back home and bring your family. They (IND) will ask for proof of residence etc.etc. in the U.K., so do keep every snippet of paper you have testifying to that (from Tesco's to gasbills). So no inburgering, no hassle! Look into it!

    Hi Bullie,

Thank you very much for your advise. Good to hear that someone in a similar situation never had problems. Rent money might be a good excuse if they ever asked. Besides that, we are also planning to move back to Europe wants the kids reach Uni age. Saving in Thailand and buying a house cash in The Netherlands would be nice. Housing cost in The Netherlands are thought the roof, and getting an MVV visa is rather difficult. Maybe I follow your path later in life. Thanks for the advice.

We went to Holland under the Chavez-rule. Check it out! Wife is now doing the inburgering voluntarily for free, (Amsterdam),  is allowed to work, and after 3 years we will change the visa to MVV, no problem.

Yep, gap has been widening for 10 years since the Tories formed the Government. Now Johnson is in expect more of the same. You ain't seen nothing yet. Double whammy too as he's going to destroy the £.

The Brits are welcome to give up the pound in favour of the euro anytime. We Europeans will just wait until the currencies are on par before we will kindly suggest this - which should not take long.

    Doomed ye are, doomed....

Get some help I think if you think that of being in Thailand, are you a prisoner of Thailand can you not just leave.

Or maybe your just a  person whose paranoid of wherever you live.

Came to live in Thailand 13 years ago to enjoy freedom. Now have left this year because of all the restrictions. Interestingly I now find that individual freedom in Europe is much more guaranteed, especially in Portugal and Spain.
