  1. I went to my treating hospital (Phayathai 2) this morning to complain about my inability to register for a vaccination date on the 'intervac' website. A hospital representative offered to check the info on the website after the magic hour of noon.  What the representative found and I confirmed was that information from some of the fields - to include my nationality, address, province, district, and sub-district were now blank and no entries could be made!  It is just incomprehensible to me!

Every day, the CCSA tells foreigners that they can be vaccinated at their treating hospital but it's now working out that way at all!

I too registered by the form provided on the date it first came available. I then added vimuthospital to my Line, and this afternoon I received this message:

So I'm assuming my registration did not take place, or did it?

Anyway, nothing is going to happen until they have 1) enough vaccine and 2) enough slots to fulfill those who registered.

From the message sent to you on LINE, it is difficult to discern exactly what the 'inconvenience' is but I think an educated guess would be that there isn't enough vaccine to start jabs on 7 June.

If you have lived in Thailand for any length of time and there are plenty of examples posted almost daily on this site,  you would be aware that whatever policies are announced Nationally as also applies to legislation, the application varies greatly not only from province to province but office to office.

This happens with Immigration, DLT offices and down to the local Amphur, where obtaining a yellow house book and pink ID card can vary from needing reams of documents to virtually nothing.

As a retired lawyer I used to find it very frustrating and illogical compared to the experience in my own country Australia.

I realized however that it is the price of living here and that nothing I could do or say would make any meaningful change, as an English friend often says “ Like it or lump it”

To be be fair to the Thais they are dealing with a situation probably never  experienced before and the situation has been handled less than perfectly in many countries.

I have many friends in the UK who complain about their situation and in Australia the rollout of vaccinations has been less than perfect,

to say nothing of State borders being closed at short notice, leaving people stranded then forced to quarantine, citizens being denied the right to leave the country and about forty thousand Australians unable to return due to the government restricting the number of flights.

Compared with what I see happening around the world I don’t think things are too bad in Thailand.

I agree with everything you say about how things vary greatly around the country. Most, if not all of the time, none of these variances can be life threatening. The Thai government, whether at the national or local level, appears to be have made the revival of tourism the clear priority in meting out vaccinations - Samui, Phuket, or, in your case, Chiang Mai.  I strongly disagree with this approach because it means that Thais and foreigners outside these areas are being treated as expendable.  Since the majority of COVID cases are in Bangkok and the surrounding provinces, the people (everyone) not just Thais should be prioritized based on the dangers to their overall health COVID infection represents. Stressing tourism does not make sense from the overall strategies adopted by most countries. People are dying because of this policy.  And, yes, this has had a great impact on my view of the Thai 'government' not that it was all that good prior to the pandemic.

I realize that there is little I can do to have an impact on changing the vaccination priorities or when I may have the opportunity to be vaccinated. Since I live in Bangkok, the current epicenter, I have to deal with the daily stress and anxiety of becoming infected or possibly dying. But, as I noted earlier, the government has decided that some people our expendable. As a foreigner in Bangkok, that is completely clear to me. Stay safe and be well.

No we didn’t jump anything, we live in the North of Chiang Mai Province, it appears that as it is a tourist region they were able to secure the AstraZeneca shots for Thais and non Thais aged over 60 years.

I know a number of people particularly those working in health  areas who were vaccinated with the Chinese vaccine a couple of weeks ago.

Well, what I find amazing is that the announcement from the 'national' government is that 'expats' would start to register for vaccinations as of 7 June not before. There is nothing but chaos in the administration of this vaccination program and 'some' people luck out while others are left out. Chiang Mai is not part of the 'sandbox' project so while it may be a tourist area that should not be relevant to priorities that are based on the likelihood that a person will be seriously impacted by contracting COVID.  All I know is that I won't even be considered for a vaccination until after 7 June and I am many years past 60.

You've been able to register with your local hospital for some time.  My friend was scheduled for early June several weeks ago.  I'm scheduled for mid June.  Did this without any online registration.  Best to have a Thai speaker do this for you! LOL

I speak Thai just fine, thank you.  And I have probably been in Thailand a lot longer than you.

As I said, I'm very happy for you.  I guess you are unable to read the numerous posts by expats that do not have the same advantage as you.  Live long and prosper! LOL

Myself and several of my expats friends have appointments for the first two weeks in June.

My Thai wife was told she is too young to get her jab yet so we are being treated the same as Thais in the same age group.

Good for you!  And you must have been able to 'jump the queue' since the official registration date is 7 June. You and your friends are the clear exception and not the rule. Where are you? Phuket?

i don't think there is any restriction, especially not for private hospitals. Possible that government hospitals would turn you away and say to go to these places.

They seem to think that foreigners will need a special site with English speakers posted at it, which of course is nonsense (and I would not put much stock in the English  capacity of the staff who actually appear at these designated sites.). Hence the designation.

Plenty of people have gotten appointments at other Bangkok hospitals. But they are filling up  fast. And others are still waiting to confirm their vaccine allotment from government.

A just received a call from a representative of Phayathai 2 Hospital where I have been going for years. She told me that the hospital, as a result of my visit this morning, that I want to be vaccinated and that I would be contacted as soon as a vaccine is available. She said that there was no further need for me to register on or after 7 June - which I thought was very strange. I asked her, again, to be sure that this was the vaccination program by the government and the vaccination was free. She confirmed both issues. She stressed, however, that the hospital did not know when the vaccine will be available. I hope the system is working and that the vaccine will be available in the near future.

I went to my 'regular' hospital this morning where I have been going for the past 15 years.  They were unaware of the government program for vaccinating foreigners and told me that a customer service representative would call me to let me know whether they would accept registrations on 7 June or not.  They were accepting registration for their own 'fee for service' vaccination program but I did not inquire about the 'fee for service' program.

I think you're overreacting to the reality of the situation...

In truth, apart from one errant report in the BKK Post and a Bangkok province spokesman's errant comments that he had no business commenting on, the central government has been pretty consistent in what they've been saying all along.

--They said foreigners would be included in the government vaccination program as far back as Feb., and they're making good on that promise.

--The only prior specific timeframe the central government gave for when general public foreigners could begin to register was originally late May/the start of June, and that was an estimate given a week or so back. Now as of today, they've pushed that back by a week to June 7 for the formal start of registrations.

--They originally said they'd develop or modify a mobile phone app to allow foreigners to register. And now as of today, they changed course on that to say all foreigner registrations from this point forward will be done via in person registrations at vaccination center sites.

But I'd agree, if all I was doing was someone casually reading the day's news headlines over the past couple months and not closely paying attention to what exactly was being said and by whom, I'd have a much more jaundiced view of what's transpired. All in all, as someone who has been paying close attention all along, noise aside, they've pretty well kept to their fundamental commitments thus far.

Prior to this announcement, I was very dismayed and disgusted that foreigners were being pushed to the back of the bus.  I just hope this latest announcement isn't a charade and we will still have to wait until September or October to get our vaccinations!

That is all explained very clearly in the video.

Register at your hospital or, if you don't have one, register at one of the first two of the designated vaccination centres clearly described.

I watched the English version of the CCSA live and what was said does not necessarily jive with what is written.  I guess we will know soon enough. I will check with my hospital tomorrow and see what they say.

My Mrs says her nephew, only 18 or 19,  has obtained a vaccination, and his mother has had 2 already. This is in Tak province, but in a rural clinic near the City. Sounds like things vary a lot around the country.

My Mrs has been ringing around with no luck in the Pattaya area.

Yes, it would appear that each province has decided how to administer the vaccine with no established priorities. Sad but true. I'm still not sure where foreigners fit into this chaotic roll-out at all.

Yesterday just out of curiosity I was looking for the vaccination center at Central Lat Phrao that was mentioned in the press. Couldn't find any. I thought the location 3rd floor was a typo, so I looked at 5th floor at the BCC venue, closed. I mean something like this must be big. Is it closed already and was just opened for one day as a PR stunt? Or a misreporting mixed up Centara Hotel and Central Plaza? So many questions and everything clear as mud....

[EDIT] I did a google search and found out that those idiots from a certain newspaper that can not be named are obvioulsy not able to distinguish between Central Plaza Shopping Center and Centara Grand Hotel which are close together but two separate buildings. Because the vaccination venue is the Skyhall event room on the 3rd floor of Centara Hotel.

When you went to the vaccination center, were there signs that noted the hours/days it would open and close? Was the vaccination center in operation when you were there?  Thanks for your help!
