Hi,
I'm planning on renting a car for a few days while I'm on my trip. What are the best options insurance-wise?
Are all the renting operators' extended insurance policies the same?
Should I insure the vehicle with a third party company?
What do I need to look out for?
I'm a careful driver, but I wish to eliminate the head ache of dealing with damages to the vehicle or to a third party.

Hi,
Are you still looking?
Can you provide more details?
-
Look in Facebook and Craigslist. You can find a post looking for volunteers from time to time. Some may even pay you a small amount IN ADDITION to an accommodation already provided. You definitely shouldn't pay for that.
I'm not talking out of a first hand experience, though, just what I've came across online.

Sorry to hijack this thread, does any of the above permit a use by the hour? If so, how much is it? Do they have showers?
I'm going to stay at that area for a week or so and I don't wish to get into some subscription.
If it's not possible, can you suggest other places along the Sukhumvit? Ideally close to BTS Onnut.
Thanks in advance.

Coming to Chumpon by boat (a year ago), there was nothing but a green scenery on land. Not a single concrete building. I was in shock.
Only when you get closer to the land, you can see the wooden building at the pier.
Are there any other sceneries like this at all, when arriving to land by boat, somewhere in Thailand?

A European consortium is looking to expand its business to Thailand and to establish an online academy.
One of the positions available is a Thai analyst, to cover the financial markets in the South East Asia region.
The person required is Thai national, but if you speak Thai fluently, that might work as well.

" The street food is 1 of the things that adds some real sparkle to BKK in my view"
But that's not the view of residents and pedestrians who have complained about obstructed pavements in those areas.
"Dreadful abuse of ill gotten power here. Taking away people's livelihoods for no real clear and justifiable reason.'
No abuse of power, there are laws banning street vendors from obstructing the pavements, junta or no junta (it's the BMA that is enforcing the regulations). In most cases displaced vendors are offered alternative places to mess up.
Onnut market's vendors didn't obstruct pavements, yet, the place has been closed down because a new condo building had to be built there.
Maybe it was a matter of private owned land that switched hands, but still, this is an example to show that alternative places don't necessarily act as a good alternative.

I appreciate your suggestions.
I'll be there in October. No need for a pool. Just a nice room with nice people.
Does anyone know Ritzy? -

Will you have your own vehicle?
I assume something in the town? There are several under 700 baht with air/hot water. You might want to consider the ones near Ok BBQ (buffet moo ga ta, all you can eat place for 129 baht).
I think they are closer to 1000 baht/night or a bit more. But you also have farang bar which have 200 baht fan rooms.
I prefer to be out of the farang area. I will probably hire some motorbike.
I can manage with a rate higher than Baht 200. I will definitely need hot water and air con.

The " Kee Niaou" Guesthouse on main road.
Are you sure this is how it's written?
I can't find any reference to it in Google. I also tried to look for it in Thai (ขี้เหนียว?)

Hi,
I'm looking for a nice guesthouse, not more than BHT 1000 a night.

Hi,
My experience is as follows:
- Capital markets
- Back and middle office operations
- Treasury cashflows' analysis
- Various financial systems (biggest names in the market like Bloomberg, SAP and more)
- Customer services and sales
- Absolute MS-Office literacy including VBA programming
All in all more than 10 years of experience.
I already have a full time job, so I prefer to start as part time and if things go well I will be happy to continue in a full time position.
I'm dedicated and always finish my tasks to the satisfaction of my supervisors. When needed, I can suggest ways to improve processes.
I'm an optimistic person and I love to give service.
I speak fluent Hebrew, English and basic Thai (inc. read & write).
Don't hesitate to ask for more details.
Cheers

In that case you shall go the Thai company limited way – probably only solution – but be aware of pitfalls...I wasn't thinking about working there, but rather to rent it out.
If I own the shop, without the land, that's not the kind of ownership I'm looking for.
Pitfalls like...

I own (freehold) a ground floor condo that is used as a shop/business
So you have Thai Citizenship?
Not a really useful answer to the OP's question.
Why is Thai citizenship relevant? No I am not a Thai national but as stated I own the condo.
Why is my answer not useful to the OPs question? It might be useful in that it gives him information as to a way he can own a freehold shop.
So you transformed your condo into a shop? Is this legal?
What am I missing here?

In short, is it impossible for a foreigner to own a retail shop as much as it is to own a house (with the land)?

- Knowledge of global trading, trade settlements and other trading aspects across various foreign
Stock/ Futures exchanges.

priced. I define them in the Front-Decision-Support system.
- Various acquaintances with Investments personal in brokerage firms and banks in Israel and across
the globe.
- Deep Knowledge of inner processes, cross-systems, between the Front and Back Offices.
- Corporate actions and their implications on investment portfolios. In addition, I have years of experience in customer services and VBA programming.

Let me know if any of the above can be beneficial for your company.

My job doesn't suck, and I'm not willing to gumble and quiting before signing a contract.
The thing is, that I was there more than a month ago (I visit there often) and I didn't notice so much interest, coming from the schools, as I do in the last week or so.
-
Hi,
I'm an Israeli and I work in Israel. I speak English fluently and i have a BA degree.
The thing is, I don't want to quit my job before signing a contract with a school, and I need to give my employer a month ahead notice. Do you think it's possible?
I can't just pop up for a few days in Thailand and look for a job (many ask me to come for an interview in the next few days) as I did it already a month ago.

And you budget shall be per night ?Thanks, but looks luxurious. Anything else less fancy?

And then there was that Hong Kong billionaire who was killed last year from a bottle of fake Dom. Too much pressure in the bottle. The cork hit him in the temple and killed him. It was sold to him at a super high end hotel in Hong Kong.
Oh my! Killed by fake champagne!!! <deleted> will we hear about next???!!!
OTOH methinks one should point any bottle away from oneself before opening it...
Good it didn't hit the poor geezer in the eye... At least he didn't suffer! RIP
Not really

The same here (except for the living-in-the-US part).
There is no need to have TEFL or equivalent nor is there any need to be a native speaker. It really is between you and the school. You need to find a school to offer you a job. The best thing to do is get your paperwork organised and present yourself at schools.
Your economics degree should suffice in terms of getting a waiver from the Teachers Council of Thailand, but your employer will take care of that.
However there are many pitfalls and if you scan this forum you should get a good sense of the various stunts you're likely to encounter.
Can you be more specific?
How can we find these schools?
What areas are best for us to look in?
