  1. Take it to the next level if you will. I enjoy excellent water pressure and enjoy the fact that pressed into service a water tight seal offers a bit of an enema. I am not talking about a coffee laced lay on your side spa kinda thing but a lower end clearance. I have enjoyed this optional use for several years and wonder if I am the only one.

  2. I bought and love my Chevrolet Z71 Colorado 4X4 six speed AT 3.8Lt Diesel. Transmission can be used in the manual 1 thru 6 position or use the "D" or dummie position when just slogging around. You have power driver seat and I got extras including front bull guard - tint - liner - 8" DVD GPS monitor set up that uses the 6 speakers to the max! Leather seats and 4 doors make you feel and drive like the million THB it costs... a real deal all considered

  3. Absolute fantastic spread at Le Meriden yesterday. I had high expectations from the menu posted here and I was not disappointed in the slightest.

Food and service were as always first class, but the dessert table was more than worth the money all on its own.

Very true Paul, I stated with espresso and finished with a regular coffee more than an hour later, There were more jumbo and regular shrimp dishes than I could sample as well as mixed salads galore. I asked for a slab of turkey and was served at least 200gr of breast which I covered with gravy mmm good. The sushi salmon and tuna were so good they melted in my mouth then the wasabi kicked in. I could have left there but the desserts were calling so after another cup a joe I was digging into the pumpkin pie al amode which even had gram cracker crust, what a blast from the past! Had to go back for some more belt busting chocolate fudge goodies, even had peeled pistachio nuts... did enjoy them all.

After a stroll around their grounds we went home where an afternoon nap was needed. Last night was great after a sunset 90 minute walk but no way could I even think about food. Now that was a Thanksgiving feast without the American football (Thank God)

Today and for the week ahead it is all Vegan and juices

I know that Sunday the 4th Le Meridien will be offering something special again Hmm :licklips:

Hope that everyone had a great and thankful Thanksgiving weekend.

  4. VF, I accept your explanation and wish to move forward without ruffling any more feathers. Lets all simply enjoy the beauty in everyday life. Here is the SW corner of CR I am sitting down to a nice light dinner.

    Peace

  5. You have to realise VF occasionally ruffle feathers and the beruffled birds look for opportunities to ruffle back. B)

I really enjoy the Le Meridien Sunday brunch, I attend with my neighbour, my wife having no interest in such occasions.

Not sure how the membership works, I filled in the form and heard no more about it but we still seem to get the discount.

Scea, You have hit the bird squarely in the feathers , I applaud your insight. It seems that you know VF much better than I do.

May we all enjoy a Peaceful and unruffled end to a great Thanksgiving weekend.

  6. Perhaps some introspection is in order for you. It was your unfounded referral to me as "poor Mello" after I posted the first notice here that Le Meridien was serving a Thanksgiving weekend brunch that got my hair up.

You can feel free in getting around TV's rules and regulations and post what they say you should not, that is up to you. You can not refer to me as "poor Mello" or any other derogatory statements without a reaction from me. There is nothing poor about me except possibly my vision without my specs. Possibly you are projecting when you throw these demeaning statements out? You have an edge to many of your statements on this board that is unwarranted, you should be aware of that subsequently introspection by you is in order.

    Peace be with you .

I always thought it was possible to praise something without belittling or begrudging someone else's good fortune but perhaps I was mistaken. ;)

  7. We all agree that Le Meridien has the best brunch in northern Thailand. That was clearly expressed in all of my postings as well as by everyone that has written in this forum.

My comment about the picture of 5 tables pushed together simply pointed out that this is not at all a representation of the seating that is available at Le Meridien's Sunday brunch in which seating is spread out for both comfort as well as privacy. If anyone does not get this then I can only shake my head in wonder.

Secondly the turkey in VF's photo does look small as I am sure it was ordered that way by the person who planned and paid for this private meal. Again, to be more than clear my comment was to point out that the brunch at Le Meridien has nothing to do with small,it is a lavish layout with as I said offers "more than 45 starters entrees and desserts". This lavish presentation is beyond doubt the best I have ever seen and I have been around the block a few times.

Lets lay to rest the ridiculous banter about my singing anything but kudos and praises for Le Meridien's food, seating, management and staff. Renaud and Justin's staff not only prepare and lay out this weekly 5 star feast but also serve each and every patron with a flair of efficiency and class not found anywhere else in CR.

Hope everyone has been enjoying a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend as we have here in SW CR.

  8. I have said it now too many times for even the thickest of skulls to not have understood.

One more time in simpler words:

Le Meridien's food service and staff are beyond reproach, it has recently been awarded as "The best of Thailand's Resorts in International awards". I personally find their Sunday brunch to be the best Thailand has to offer.

I am not going to go into it any further with you other than say that you are a person that does not read what is written very well.

I do not engage such people as it is a waste of my time as well as other TV posters. Good luck to you.

  9. VF,There was never any insinuation by me other than the ambiance and excellent service one could expect when they visit Le Meridien's Sunday brunch. Where you got that from I fail to see.

For more clarification your 12 seat table set up is not to be found at their brunch although it can be found at other brunches for the public such as at the Rimkok brunch.

Your special table and food were obviously ordered and approved specifically by the organizer of your private party dinner. That is why I simply pointed out that your pictures were not indicative at all of what a TV member could expect at Sunday brunch. I went into detail about the excellent service and expansive food available as well as the roomy tables none of which was an insinuation other than an excellent one above and beyond Le Meridien's 5 star rating.

I am not having a bad day at all, again a misinterpretation by you how could I ? The sky is clear the air is cool the birds are singing the pool is warm and I have a corner booth reserved at Le Meridien's Sunday brunch. Your sensitivity and sarcastic nature are showing through.

Have a great Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

  10. Want to assure everyone not familiar with Le Meridien's Sunday brunch that there are large private tables and booths spread over both indoor and outdoor locations not squashed together as depicted in poor VF's photo. The food stations at Sundays brunch are also located all over with no less than 45 starters - entrees and desserts to tempt us with. The attentive 5 star staff is always just a glance away for fresh juices to the best endless cups of coffee and tea's you can imagine.

The 12 seats for VF's"special" look very cramped as well as knee and elbow knocking, poor VF and his tight group seem to have been limited to one small Makro turkey or possibly VF forgot to take a photo of the big spread of food.

I did enjoy the photo of Renaud and Justin the culinary and hotel managers who make sure every patron is served with the utmost degree of professionalism. Renaud's personal number for both restaurant reservations or special culinary events is 0816585876.

Have a great Thanksgiving weekend brunch and hope to see most of you there, I will be at a big corner table enjoying the ambiance as well as the culinary delights.

  11. The best Thanksgiving weekend spread in town is at Le Meridien in my opinion for 599Tb.

I tried to post their menu but TV would not accept the attachment after several tries. The Sunday brunch from 11:30 to 2:30 that has all the trimmings including turkey to pumpkin pie and much more from sushi to crispy roasted duck - chicken - pork beer batter fish and chips the list goes on and on. I will forward their email if you PM me.

Come early and leave late but do make sure that you wear those belts with extra notches as well as walking shoes for a stroll around the grounds after your meal. A great way to spend an afternoon in 5 star ambiance.

Call Renaud to make a reservation 0816585876

    See you there!

  12. After using a local CR dealer to purchase pool chemicals I decided to look further because my pool water never seemed to sparkle like I have had it in do the past. There are limited choices here in LOS, that said I settled on a 50kg sealed bucket from another source in Bangkok. Upon opening the smell of CL was enough to kick old brain grooves into hyper drive as it truly is an eye stinging lung burner. After less than 1 kg my pool sparkles like an old memory. Has anyone else found the CL and other pool chemicals delivered in the 1kg re-bagged form less than 100% effective? If so feel free to speak up so we can possibly band together to help each other to bulk buy. (50kg is a big bucket) It does save Tb. but that is/was not the issue, the real issue is quality that I found lacking.

  13. Your Duck is Dead

A woman brought a very limp duck into a veterinary surgeon. As she laid her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest.

After a moment or two, the vet shook his head and sadly said, "I'm sorry, your duck has passed away."

The distressed woman wailed, "Are you sure?"

"Yes, I am sure. Your duck is dead," replied the vet.

"How can you be so sure?" she protested. "I mean you haven't done any testing on him or anything. He might just be in a coma or something."

The vet rolled his eyes, turned around and left the room. He returned a few minutes later with a black Labrador Retriever. As the duck's owner looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table and sniffed the duck from top to bottom. He then looked up at the vet with sad eyes and shook his head.

The vet patted the dog on the head and took it out of the room. A few minutes later he returned with a cat. The cat jumped on the table and also delicately sniffed the bird from head to foot. The cat sat back on its haunches, shook its head, meowed softly and strolled out of the room.

The vet looked at the woman and said, "I'm sorry, but as I said, this is most definitely, 100% certifiably, a dead duck."

The vet turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys and produced a bill, which he handed to the woman.

The duck's owner, still in shock, took the bill. "3000Tb!" she cried, "3000Tb just to tell me my duck is dead!"

The vet shrugged, "I'm sorry. If you had just taken my word for it, the bill would have been 100Tb, but with the Lab Report and the Cat Scan, it's now 3000Tb."

A little levity goes a long way in making smiles everyday. Why not post a few here that we can all share here in LOS?

  14. On Hwy 1 north of the King Miengrai statue on the same side of the road is an electrical supply place that has everything you will need. Their phone number is 053 740016 They also repair electrical equipment (in the back)

The small guy seems to be in charge but no one speaks English.

    Go to the mall. :)

Only very limited assortment, not what I am looking for.

  15. Directly across from the old bus station depot on the south side of the street is a Chinese herb store , look for herbs and such all over the shop. The man there speaks some English and is very helpful. He referred me to an acupuncturist and homeopathic doctor not far from Wang Chai. The doctor works in a large clothing factory with his medical clinic about 2km from there on hwy 120. Normal business is open in the evenings. I found relief from rather nasty lower back pain after a couple treatments plus he supplied ointment that was soothing. The place is relatively clean as I did see an autoclave as well as fresh linens. I do hope that you find what you are looking for as the herb shop proprietor is quite knowledgeable and in my opinion honest. I asked if he could sell me ointment before I saw the acupuncturist and his reply was to wait and see what the acupuncturist said was best - that in my opinion shows integrity. Good luck to you in your health quest - mellofello

Thanks mellofello ! I have been looking for a chinese doctor that can give acupuncture. I was to the Chinese hospital in Bangkok a couple of weeks ago and got one treatment. The doctor said I needed at least 3-4 more so I will give this guy in Wiang Chai a test.

    Thanks again!

By the way, the mechanical doctor you reccomended long time ago is very good! Our old Toyota Corona is running like new again!

    :D:rolleyes::D

    And Brahmburgers......

Sven, You are more than welcome.Good to hear that the Toyota Corona is back up and running again. It's good that Narlung is here in CR as an honest English speaking auto mechanic is indeed a peace of mind proprietor that we expats need.

I hope all goes well with the Chinese doc. - mello

  16. how much is the meridian weekend brunch? sounds good...

Hi Chivo,Just saw your question about the cost of Sunday brunch at LeMeridien and called them because I did not know (remember). All I could think of was their bottomless cup of really great cofffee which by the way is almost worth the cost of the whole brunch if you drink as much coffee as I do. I was told that the cost is 499++Tb. Give them a call if you need to know anything else specific 053 60333. We like to get there before noon then take our time as the 5 star ambiance plus the excellent food goes well with a couple hours. Walk the riverfront grounds and soak in the place as it is a well spent way to start a Sunday.

  17. Den Ha would be on the old Chiang Mai Highway 1211 as you are leaving downtown Chiang Rai. About 2 kilo's out of town. Not far from Chiang Rai Beach (Pattaya Noi). Same road as going to the next pot luck.

Maybe someone knows how to Pin it on the Chiang Rai TV map.

Thanks TacoBoy - Nice place to stop for food or cold drink and it is clean as can be expected. I noticed the lack of farang but feel we can change that. Been watching it since it broke ground 2 years ago then stopped with no action for over a year. Nice to see it has sprung up so well and has a nice feel to it. Like most of us it has a story or two regarding getting started here in the Rai. Good luck to its owners

  18. OK~ i'm quite the hill billy type of guy  ...where is it ? 'cos my appetite is turning when it comes to food, i need to try the Sunday brunch.

Hi RedBullHorn - Here is a link to Sven's map that lists many locations and places all over CR. LeMeridien is located on this map just scroll down the list on the left of the page and hit their location link next to the river. It is listed on this map as Hotel Meridien. Easy to find only a couple clicks off the main highway so no long instructions needed..Call ahead to get their hours of operation 053 603333 . Enjoy
