How would you translate "be the change you want to see in the world"? My Thai friends say it's rather difficult but they might not grasp the meaning correctly, who knows.
-
Fair enough, in case he really got into drugs they might not want to challenge the Thai authorities who helped finding Tom. However, from what I understand he is still in the country and his mum was not even sure whether her ex husband would bring Tom back to Britain. They could have left for days by now if it was really urgent.
-
They now shut the Facebook page down and want to donate the money from their charity event tomorrow to Missing Abroad. No further info on what happened to Tom given. I'm pretty sure now he was rather hiding and the family just don't want to admit to the public that he was probably partying, on drugs or with a girl all the time and simply behaving like a careless prick.

His brother says something happened to Tom and they don't know what it was. Very mysterious.

Well done!

Thanks a lot, guys. I know I'm well qualified in Germany but thought not being a native speaker of English might be an issue - although I must say that I studied in the UK for a year and do not have a German accent. I do know that most of the time Thais care more about one's passport, though.

Ah, just saw the drug remark was not from his family. Apparently the mum is waiting/hoping for her ex husband to bring Tom home and does not really know what happened, why her son stayed in Bangkok. Talked about "persuading" Tom's dad to being him home which sounds like they're not even half way back to Britain. No further info given, just snapped at me for asking whether drugs were in involved. Honestly pissed off by this family now and glad I didn't invest more time in making my friends in Bangkok aware of the case or looking myslf.

Nope, Ya Ice seems to be the prob according to the Facebook page.

People tried to help and are not even told whether he really had problems or was just being a prick. Not nice, just saying.

Staatsexamen, specific teaching degree, yes. Only the first part, though, before the two-year traineeship one needs for German public schools. We sit a second Staatsexamen in case we decide to do the trainee part. Without it I can work at private schools.
Plus an M.A. in English Education (major) and English Literature and Education Studies (minors).

Umm, "my" subjects to students in Thailand? What are my options with above-mentioned qualifications? Any restrictions? If so, which?

In case I was looking for a teaching job, what could I expect?

Well, Joe, what do you think happened? He wasn't abducted, he's been in Bangkok all the time and even visited Khao Sarn, he's used ATMs and he did neither call nor email nor text his family. What justifies this behaviour in your opinion?
I find it quite interesting that even on Facebook the family only says he's "alive and uninjured but that does not mean he is well".
-
I'm a bit pissed off by not getting any info, to be honest. Not even the Facebook page mentions what actually happened. A lot of people tried to help the family and now Tom was found and that's it?

Some folks here should simply shut the fuc_k up. And I don't mean the guy whose phone was stolen.

No info on the ATM locations, times etc. I asked on Facebook, no reply from the family.
-
Apparently he was seen in Hub Bar on Khao Sarn, his dad missed him by 24 hours.
No updates here, no info on the ATMs - I offered help which does not seem to be needed.
Good luck, though.
-
I saw one in a camera bag at the game at Rajamangala yesterday. No kidding.
-
Read that, too. Still: we don't know if it's true, if it actually happened, if it really was him.
I find it difficult to help being in Bangkok and not having any further info locationwise.
Just drove past that soi yesterday after the football match - could be he only went there once, you could tell a lot from his withdrawals.
-
Sorry, WiFi probs and double post.
-
Well, we still don't know whether it was really him and without info on the withdrawals it is impossible to tell if HE was taking money from his account or someone else. I am in Bangkok and would like to help - can't someone just please post the ATM locations and dates they were used at?
-
I couldn't find info on the ATM withdrawals on the Facebook page. Would be helpful to know which area of Bangkok we're talking about.

Wow, I just walked to Chula and apparently a motorbiker got really upset about one of the Chula buses crossing the road. I'm not quite sure, I think he had to stop because of it but the traffic lights were red anyway, smallish road between National Stadium/MBK and Chula. Well, the biker started shouting at the bus driver who just went on with his route and then the biker took something out of his pocket, unwrapped it and I thought it was a phone and he'd call police or his wife to moan about the situation. Nope, it was a knife, he opened it and started driving after the bus, still yelling and cursing and after a while just stopped and drove off o_O. 3pm in the middle of Bangkok, for no real reason.

Wakey-wakey?!
Honestly, do you consider this a normal relationship o_O?

They won't tell us and I'm sure this is for good reason.
