Fantastic , that looks the way to go
Sorry to carry on just checking that the said Non-O don't require Thai Insurance ?
Will travel insurance cover for the year be good enough
Cheers

It is, and the way the requirement is structured makes no real sense.
However - separating this from visa requirements - it is really unadvisable to live here uninsured and many have coemn ot serious grief that way.
Get a non-O visa (not O-A) and then get "real" (not from a Thai company) insurance. If you expect to return to Oz at least once a year, and will retain eligibility for health care back there, a travel policy that covers just emergencies and med-evac might suit.
Thanks Sheryl
I don't intend to stay uninsured while there and expect to return to Oz once a year.
Will get travel insurance initialy
So just to clarify Visa etc wise
I come in on Exempt 45 day then i can apply for Non-O which is 90 days then i can get extension Non-O for 1 year
is that correct.
Cheers and thanks for any info

I'm looking to move back in a couple of months , looking for suggestions for health insurance as the link by the Thai Embassy in Canberra is useless as some companies won't switch over to English language. I'm 67yo
I've searched but can't find any up to date info here
Any help will be appreciated.

What office do you go to for visa exempt extension?
I'm in Nonthaburi
-
Ok, here's one for you UbonJoe ,have non o multi valid until July
We got divorced prior to me going having to go back to Australia( which i haven't yet)due to the fact i didn't want to fly back and forward to sign documents if the wife needed to purchase things that also needed husbands signature.
flights were cancelled
So what is it i need to do now? Not tell immi of divorce or ???
cheers

I also did mine on Wednesday easy peasy
they even wrote my wife’s name as contact on the visa for some reason

Real tip to save time, forget about going to Savanahket. Grab a ticket to ho chi min, enjoy cheap beer and go to a consulate with a line up of 5-10 people in a shaded / air-conditioned office.
That’s where I will be going to do mine next month

I was on marriage extension, they were adamant that I needed a re-entry permit even got a receipt so wasn't put in their pocket.
Coming back through Thai immigration they asked if they can take a photo of me and the missus for a promotion :)

I didnt think reentry permits were needed for miltiple entry non o. I been in and out of thailand a bunch of time during my last year on this visa and never bought a reentry permit
The excuse was sometimes visa is refused so you can't get back into Thailand

Did mine Wednesday, so easy but immigration made me get an re-entry permit for Thailand 1000bht.
Coming back through the IO got confused with my new visa and the re-entry permit and she was supposed to be the boss ,an underling had to explain.
Besides that all smooth sailing.
Stayed at Dao Savanh resort which was decent enough.

You can get a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage in Savannakhet without needing to show financial proof.
You have to leave the country every 90 days to get a new entry (it is not doing a 90 report).
You can also get a 60 day extension to visit your wife for each entry.
Ok thanks
My extension is up 15th June , how long before that time can i go to Savannakhet ?
Thanks again

Hi ubonjoe,
Just to clarify a couple of things.
Due to an emergency operation for our daughter I had to use some of the money for my 5th extension based on marriage.
So now I can just go to savannah to get a new non "O" multi and just do the 90 day reports outside Thailand
Is this correct ?
cheers
