Two Russian soldiers plead guilty in new war crimes trial in Ukraine
Megasin1 replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
It was fairly well established at Nurenberg, that following orders is not an acceptable excuse for committing war crimes. They may have been more likely believed if they had claimed that they have really crappe guns and had actually being aiming elsewhere !!! -
so 60 + 30= 90 which is what some reports were saying, 90 minutes after they arrived, which if it is true was pretty shoddy and may have accounted towards the amount killed. A child was saying that a policeman called out if you need help, call out help which a girl did and then the gunman shot her. The police will have to explain why they did nothing whilst the teachers were throwing themselves in front of the children.

There are a few people on here with awry views. I'm sure that some countries have their issues with despotic rulers, but let's face it prior to Russias invasion there was no impending food crisis, no world shortage of wheat, grain, fertiliser, oil or gas....plain and simple. Ukraine also provided 25% of the worlds laminated wood, amongst other things. To bring up decisions like the USA voted to spend money on Ukraine but not retail businesses is just crass and ignorant, children are being raped and murdered, I'm certain the USA can manage without some state propped up restaurants that will just lose more money. Most if not all people on this site will probably only be affected slightly by the Tsunami that is coming to the third world, maybe it will hurt you a bit more when China invades Taiwan and you can no longer get the latest tech gizmo, but probably not as you could easily fall into the category of those that died out 300 million years ago whom were so busy eating each other that they failed to notice the large rock spinning towards them.......

I'm plumbing for dumb, they've already been all over the news with their favourite saying and it thoroughly identifies their stupidity, because yes the guns they have access to are specifically designed to kill people and also they would find it a lot lot harder to carry out mass murder with a stick........

A true "let them eat cake" moment and apt too, coming from one of the 1%. But also until the guillotine comes back out for the 1% (which is probably not that far off) as others on here have stated there are many sensible steps people can take to reduce their personal costs of living and this will extend around the world thus further effecting "luxuries" like tourism and countries that rely on it. Personally speaking I now carry out a monthly review and assess if I really need this or that, planning for the soaring costs that are going to hit us all. There is no doubt there is going to be a global recession of massive proportions, starvation and global unrest. Offering stupid advice to people who will soon be struggling to feed their kids will result in leaders being dragged out of drains and beaten to death whilst filmed for posterity on social media.

Are children getting a fair deal at Schools in Thailand?
Megasin1 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
nope -
so the headline intimates that the Smash ran into the truck, but it sounds more like the truck cut into the smash, oh for more clear reporting, wouldn't it be nice if they told you there was or wasn't a junction etc. Survivors like winners seem to write history here rather than the ping pong heads measuring the marks on the road and stuff like that and drawing their own conclusions.

Mixed messages… record profits or price shocks in Thailand
Megasin1 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Unfortunately its not just electric and gas. We are already feeling the effects of Putins war. Ukraine produced 25% of the worlds laminated wood (strange but relevant fact). Chicken is now the same price as steak (grain shortage) and next year 350 million people will be starving as a wheat shortage takes effect. On top of covid it is becoming a rather unfortunate "perfect storm". I always laughed at preppers with their underground bunkers and 25 year food supplies, but it seems they may be 50% correct. -

They had a great time, spent some wonga and returned without a care in the world. Thailand, look and learn ????????????

so a misleading title again not cancelled but they will meet with Ukraine first, so it will still go ahead. Here's a bit of advice for you Channel 5, fall back on your history and try and side with the winners, yes I know Thailand stuffed it with the Japanese, so do try to get it right this time, oh by the way Russia are losing, does that help direct you ?

yeh right !!!! about as much of a grasp on economics as my pet hamster. -
Things could be about to change. It has been reported today that the Chinese Ambassador to Ukraine came out with a statement supporting Ukraine and that the Russian Foreign Minister on his way to China turned around mid flight back to Moscow. I haven't seen this on mainstream news channels as yet but if this is true you may see stronger views in Thailand. ????

Thailand would stay neutral on any conflict, anywhere, its the nature of the beast and especially when the aggressor is bigger than them, its in their nature, culture and history. They need to judge their stance carefully though as current global opinion is turning rapidly on nations that are just sitting back. Corporations have detected this and are behaving in their best global interests. 50% of me feels sorry for the Russian people and 50% of me thinks you get the government that you deserve. There is no doubt despite Government statements that Thailand is not reliant on tourism, that in reality they are very heavily reliant on tourism and the Russian market is important to them but the way things are going they will at some point have to make a call one way or the other and then live with that decision.

Thai Air Force Affirms New Fighter Jets Are a ’Necessity’
Megasin1 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Strategically Thailand has no requirement for 5th generation fighters. Thailand and its neighbours do not possess modern technical military hardware, so there is no need. Larger nations with modern technical hardware would not be put off by 5 or 6 fighters so you have to consider their real purpose of thought. They either intend more aggressive actione against their immediate neighbours or another country has requested them so that they can copy them. As much as they bleat, personally I dont think they will be getting any. ????- 141 replies

I'm not so sure about that last statement as what Putin has forgotten is that in the good old USSR days the Ukrainians were his best troops and no disrespect to the Ukrainians who are turning out to be robust, calm and unfaltering but the way the Russians are performing a 9 year old with a catapult could be a military threat to Russia.
