Ten or twelve years ago the was a move to ban very dark
tinted windows in Thailand until a prominent politician said “Why do we need such a law, Thai people aresensible enough to know when the tint is too dark”. The move soon lost momentum.-

Ok, I don't get it. Why spend a day on bus travel alone and what looks to be a 2000 baht expense when one can hop on a flight of 1 1/2 hours each segment for 4000- 5300 baht or so Round trip? Seriously, don't you think if someone has to take a bus to Phnom Penh from Bangkok to save 2000-4000 baht or so he/she really shouldn't be in Thailand?
I know some people have a fear of flying or have specific reasons for taking a bus, but for most people it's just a tedious waste of time. I take the bus now from Hua Hin to the airport in BKK and it works for me because it is better than a private car hire. However, taking a bus to Cambodia from Bangkok to save a few thousand baht is an inefficient use of time and pathetic.
No, I wouldn't think that someone taking this bus shouldn't be in Thailand. Who cares? What's it to you, really?
I think it's pathetic to think that everyone would think the exact same as you or be living in the exact same situation as you.
Perhaps a backpacker would take the bus, looking to save money wherever possible. Perhaps they are on a six month break and have all the time in the world.
Perhaps others like to save money, and wasting time will not bother them, as they have all the time in the world for whatever reason.
Seriously, man, take a chill pill, it's nothing to get excited over. Think about it a little.
Who's getting excited then?
I question who should be taking a chill pill.

It is not so much the music but the bass and it makes me physically ill. It is the sound of what a migraine is and i feel like wanting to vomit . If i am subjected to it long enough it will trigger off a migraine. I have walked out of places like Big C mid purchase when they shove the bass up on a system to demonstrate how bad the sound really is. And ,yes, Thailand is one of the worse places to be if you don't like bass.
Try living in the villages in Thailand...
Music from 530am - 10pm, sometimes 12 on a regular basis!
I suffer from a noise problem near my home. I purchased a set of Bose QC 15 noise cancelling headphones which help to minimise the intrusion.

I think most posters are missing the point.
Thailand is preparing to offer health insurance to migrant workers living in Thailand, as well as to expatriates and their families.
They want to SELL insurance to foreigners. It is not about worrying about whether or not non-nationals are a burden on the medical welfare system, they are not... there is no free care for non-nationals here.
I see this as a money grab. Looking at quotes I have seen for health insurance I was quoted here, they were low coverage and hugely expensive compared to insurers located overseas. So I expect that someone has a financial interest in selling low value insurance to non-nationals. I would not be surprised if the payouts are hard to get too. Just someone trying to grab more money from foreigners and give minimum in return.
I was tempted to reply to the OP yesterday, but having read quite few replies felt drowned by the negative response. I revisited the OP today and thought what the hell, so here goes......
I purchased travel insurance here in Thailand for the first time about 10 years ago which I renew on an annual basis.
A couple of years ago whilst in Shanghai, I picked up an infection which required a day in a private hospital which my hotel arranged for me.
When I returned to Thailand I went to the insurance company’s
office, produced the hospital bill along with a letter from the doctor who
treated me, completed a claim form which was checked by 2 members of staff. I
was asked to sit down and wait for 15 minutes whilst the paperwork was
processed and a cheque for the full amount would be available for me to take
with me.
What can I say, excellent service.

What is any vessel with a motor doing within 5 miles of any beach where people are swimming? All such things (jet-skis, powerboats etc.) should be completely banned, not least because they are a noisy nuisance.
This is a very tragic accident, please have a sensible perspective on the issue.

How near is the circuit to completion. If so the latest images of the circuit would be nice.

I flew Thai 4 times this year with deplorable service. I will not fly them again unless absolutely necessary. They must be the joke of all the SE Asia airlines at this point in time.
Would you care to expand on the “deplorable service”?

I would believe,
that event is sponsored & run by the activities + enterprise of the Austrian, International arm - F 1, MotoGp
and overall Motorsport Part of the Red Bull conglomerate which, as I see it,
has not much to do with the Bangkok incident and should not be thrown in the same pot!
Alfredo, Would it be fair to point out that Red Bull GMBH is 51% Thai owned?

Hmmm, cup–O-coffee, an interesting and highly critical response to the article.
Would you care to give a point by point detailed outline of how you think the education system in Thailand should be restructured? It is generally accepted that it is in dire need of radical change.
I eagerly await your post

I recently purchased an EGREAT EG-R2A Media player.
I am very happy with the player and it is working well. Unfortunately the instuction book does not explain how to use the "Bookmark Facility" when I am playing a movie, I press the bookmark button on the remote and the bookmark Icon appears in the top left hand corner of the screen indicating that a bookmark has been made. How do I return to that bookmark later in the playback.

What do you want the VPN for?
No need to pay for a service, there's plenty of free ways to do it.
Thanks for your reply, would you care to explain the alternative ways to access UK resident only web sites.
-
Any information would be appreciated on the various VPN services available to the UK. I have a 3BB 5mb premium DSL connection and already subscribe to a VPN service but am experiencing problems with securing a worthwhile connection to the UK.
I have tested my connection speed with several internet speed testers and am getting between 4.5mb and 4.9mb.
I have read the Thai Visa forum policy on discussing VPN’s so I am not able to discuss the matter in fine detail.
Thank you in advance for any replies I may receive.
