You got that right. We went to Hua Hin in may, planned to stay thier for 4 days, left after 2. My fiance didn't even like it. Everything is too spread out. The beach and the water is clean, but We like pattaya for the facilities. Nice super makets, dept stores, malls, ect. Plus we have a lot of friends in Pattaya.

Thats what i'm afraid of. I realy don't know if the house can support the aircon without adding additional electrical. That's one thing i know nothing about.
-
I also saw this in the asia bugle, and i tend to not agree with the first part, but totally agree with the latter.
-
I heard the same thing about Bangkok Bank.
Sevinnow,
How did you arrange the transfer with krungthai Bank? Did they have the routing numbers for you to use? I also heard that was a better bank to deal with.
-
Last January i stayed at the flipperhouse soi 7, and the aircon made me sick. I wasn't the only one. I told them my lungs were getting conjested when i turned on the aircon. They changed the filter, and that fixed the problem

Thanks Lopburi,
I really had no idea i was just doing anestimated guess. My living room, and kitchen is actually ajoined, so i will have to get a bigger unit for the living room. One more quiestion:
is it more reasonable to buy from Big C, Lotus, or Tesco than an aircon store, and do they warantee?
-
Thanks Lopburi3. I really don't know the size to put in. The living room is about 600 sqr feet, and the bedrooms are about 270 sqr feet. Correct me if i'm wrong that would make the living room 200 sqr meters, and the bedrooms 90 sq meters. do you have an idea of the sizes we will need?

Lopburi3,
OK i'll be exact 5000 BHT for the visa, and 95,700 BHT to extend. this is for a THAI mariage. total 100,700 BHT.
I'm sorry i was off a few thousand baht. At these prices doesn't really make a difference.

The 400,000 should not be a problem as most people will prabably spend close to that in a yr anyway. I hope everyone knows that you can use these monies during the year.
-
Your absolutely correct Bob, they have the country devided into sections, and if your home address in the US is in the southwestern united states you must go thru the LA consul.
What type of O visa are you trying to get. O just stands for other, and covers many categories.

Kiwi Jack,
I can only tell you what i have obtained from the ministry of foriegn affairs website, as i am on my way back to thailand on sat, and will be getting married on august 10th. First of all your mariage must be registered with the thai government. You can obtain an O visa for support of a thai family in country at thai immigation. You would have to take your wife, passport, wifes id card and mariage certificate to immigration and apply for an o visa. This is good for 90 days. Once you get the O visa you can apply for a one yr extension. You would have to put 250,000 bht in a thai bank account, and get a letter from the bank tht the money came from outside of thailand, preferably your home country. Once you get the extension you will need to report your address to immigration every 90 days. According to what has been published in the news papers the visa fees, and extension fees are increasing effective august 26, 2003 from 5500 bht to approximately 105,000 bht. And in 2004 you will have to have 400,000 bht in the bank. You are able to use the money during the year, but must transfer additional funds upon renual to make up the difference.
-
I'm sorry i meant 8500 to 10,000 bht each.
-
Thanks lopburi3,
I've been told that these units cost about 2500 to 3000 bht each wich i think is cheap. I might be way off. do you hve any idea of the cost?
-
I have seen houses with 3 separate units one for each bedroom, and one for the living room, with the unit outside, and the condensor mounted on the wall. Is this what you mean by split units? I wasn't aware that big C sells these units.
-
I'm sorry, the house is in Pattaya.
-
Does anyone know where i can purchase, and have installed aircon for a two bedroom house?
-
I rented a two bedroom house in Pattaya for $143.00 per month.
-
Doctor,
I think you are mistaken. You can extend a non immigrant O for marriage at any thai immigration. You do not need to go abroad. as a matter of fact this is one of the few visas you are able to obtain in country. Info from the foriegn affairs website in Bangkok.
-
George,
Forign affairs states you can extend an O for support, then apply for a work permit.
-
I will be getting married, with a step son. Does my wife, and son need to get a social securety number so i can claim them as dependants, and if so how is this accomplished?
-
I just got my tourist visa double entry from th LA consul. hey go strictly by the rules. I will be getting married in thailand next month, and will be living in Pattaya. I asked about non immigrant O, and they said apply in Thailand after i get married.
-
Whay did you change your class o to B? Anyone correct me if i'm wrong, but a class o visa for support of a Thai family allows you to get a work permit.
-
The school i'm talking about in Pattaya supposed to be the best private school in Pattaya. The total cost of the school is $1000.00 per yr. I think thats cheap.
-
My fiance tells me both your birthdates determin the day of the week that you are to get married according to Thai custom. This is for good luck. Most things in Thailand seem to be based on good luck. Even when i went to the Buhda ( i know the spelling is wrong) temple, the monk toldme this is good luck for you.
