From what i understand the quickest is the fiance visa. You cannot apply for this visa in thailand. You have to apply in th usa, and it takes 4 to 6 months. She will have to complete a lot of paperwork by herself. If she cannot read english, you better hire a visa service. I know peole that have done this, but i agree not easy. After everything is complete, you will have to fly to Thailand for the intervew. If you met her in a bar do not tell the embassy or you can forget it. Bar girls are excluded from USA immigration.

As far as i know it's 250,000bht in the bank for a thai mariage.

Chanobot,

-
I don't believe the increases until i see it on an official web site. all these sites are visa services.

First of all for a newbe in thailand hotel securety is very important. For instance at the flipper house hotel when you bring in a guest the CQ holds her ID card. The next morning when, she leaves, if you are not present with her the CQ will call your room, and ask if everything is ok. This prevents theft.
No ID card no entry.
soi 7, and soi 10 is no where near jomtien, although Jomtien is only a 10 minute baht bus ride away. Soi 7 is in central Pattaya amongst the beer bars. Take my word for it Flipperhouse is a first class hotel.
-
The best hotel for the price is the Flipper House hotel on Soi 7. 770 baht per night for standard room, friendly staff, good securety, and great pool.

Try bupa.com. This is blue cross world wide. Good prices, and they are the best.

D80,
I'm glad someone on this board is sensible. My fiance has family that has come from their northeastern village to Pattaya to work in a bar. Some people might ask why. They have to understand that with a limited education you realy only have three choices. Stay home work on a farm, have a very limited future, go to Bangkok, work in a factory making blue jeans 16hrs a day, or work in a bar, and maybe just maybe meet a nice guy, fall in love and have a bright future if your lucky.

Wolf,
I will be in Pattaya on the 26th of july, and will be putting an application for admission of my fiance's son in to this school the week of july 28th. You can E mail me after that and i will have the complete low down on this school. I am an american retireing in Pattaya, and when i visited this school in May they impressed me with what they teach. This school has grades K thru 12 which i found convenient so the children can complete high school without changeing schools. They also have school bus service to pick up the children, and bring them back home. extra charge for this service of course. The cost is about $1000.00 US per yr.

Thanks for the reply Lanny. I will not have any foreign income. I am a us citizen, and will be living in Pattaya retired. I have a tax accountant in the US that will prepare my return. I was just wondering if i had to mail to the US, or can i file thru acs?
-
Does anyone have info on filing USA taxes when living in Thailand? Can this be dine thru american citizens service at the Embassy?

From what i have seen, every girl is different, weather she works in a bar, abeauty salon, or a hotel. as far as bar girls go the longer a girl works in a bar the more her attitude changes towards farangs, because of the way she has been treated. Treat everyone with respect no matter what they do for a living, and you will get treated the same.

From what i've read Bangkok bank, and Krungthai bank are the top two Thai banks. You also have City bank, and Bank of america in Bangkok. If their were to be another asian chrises, and the devaluation of the baht no matter what bank you have your money in would not make a difference.
-
Just apply for a tourist visa good for 60 days, and you can get a 30 day extension at thai immigration. Leave your passport in morning and pick up the next morning.
-
Thanks lopburi3. I'll let everyone know what happens. will be in August.
-
Very true i agree. My fiance lives in Surin, and we will be married in august. We are going to live in Pattaya. Sometimes her family have problems, and she tells me about them, but never asks for money for her family. Now she only has siters, brothers, nephews, and nieces. Her parents are deceased.
her son and myself are the prioraties in her life.

I'm getting married in august, and will be going through the same. The wesites i have gone to is the ministry of foriegn affairs, where you have a choice of english or thai. also bangkok banks website says if you are married you can open a joint resident account. I do not know if immigration requires the account to be in your name only. If you find out please let me know.
-
I might be wrong, but i bekieve if you would have applied for an o visa with mariage certificate you could have gotten it good for 3 months, but can be extended for one year at thai immigration. You can also get a work permit with this type of visa.

Their are two excellent private schools in Pattaya. Both off of Sukemvit road. My girl friend and i intervewed one in may, and , looked to be excellent. 100% farang children go to this school. The cost is $1000.00US per year. unfortunately i don't have the name as my fiance has the paperwork, and she is in Thailand while i am still in Los Angeles for the next two weeks. You can send me an E mail in 2 weeks and i'll give you the name. You realy have to be in Thailand to make a decision. The school also wants to intervew the children.

You can only register at an amphur, and Pattaya does not have one. I believe there is one in Chonburri.
-
Hi Doug,
do you know if this dvd is available in Thailand? I am moving to Pattaya in 21/2 weeks, adn no time for shipping.
-
Thanks Benny,
Thats what i was afraid of. I have to get several documents translated ie divorce decree, and death certificate of my former wife. The divorce decree should be enough, but i want to cover all my bases. This means i will have to make at least 2 trips to Bangkok.
-
I'm getting married next month, in Surin Amphur Prasat. We will register the mariage in Prasat, and apply at immigration in Pattaya where we are going to live. The information i have gathered from the ministry of foriegn affairs website is that you can apply in Thailand, any imigration office. You need to bring mariage certificate, house registration if she owns a house, pictures preferebly of the wedding, your birth certificate from your home country, and her birth certificate. She has t fill out most of the paperwork.

Where did you get the affidavid translated at, and how much did it cost? Mine will have to be at the american embassy. Did they translate it the same day?
