So I entered Thailand on the 90 Day Non-O based on marriage only to find out that our marriage overseas (in the US) isn't recognized here in the Kingdom, not without obtaining the US State Dept's Authentication, then sending it on to the Royal Thai Consulate in LA etc... US Embassy doesn't authenticate these documents. Oddly, anyone can easily pull it up to see if it's valid at the County Level online.. But I digress.

My 90 day Visa expires Oct 8th, my b-day is the 10th and I hit the big 5-0. I was thinking I could exit the country and apply for the Retirement Visa (would need to be based on my monthly pension). I have the Thai bank already but will fall short of the 800k in there, so based on what I'm reading the monthly income/pension >65k thb per month would be my only possible option.

Also, what is an income certificate?

Anyone here know if this is possible to do without too much drama? I'm guessing I'd need to exit Thailand Oct 7th regardless...

Thanks in advance for any information.

I found that hard to believe as my Thai wife and I were married in Canada 17 years ago 2006, and I got a one year multi Non O Visa from the Thai consulate in Vancouver as I was traveling back and forth for the first 4 years, then when I moved permanently to Thailand in 2010, I applied and received an Non O extension.

The Process I had to do in Thailand was to go to the Canadian Embassy, get a statement that I am able to be married, went to MFA and got our Marriage License translated to Thai, the went to our local Amphur (Thong Lo) and registered our marriage, then I had no problem getting a Non O based on marriage extension.

2 fairly recent model laptops using Windows 10/Chrome having issues in connecting to sites like Jet-star and Thai airways,

have tried different browsers, cleared history and cookies and rested everything to fresh, still can connect to the

above sites, any ideas or recommendation to a good techie in BKK?

You might have Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) checked, as some router/wifi routers doesn't like using that, I know that one of mine Wifi/router doesn't like it. Sometimes when you do a Windows 10 software update it will check the box.
Go in Control Panel click on Network and sharing Center then on the top left corner click on change adapter settings, then right click on the connection you are using and chose properties, then scroll down to where it says Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and see if it's uncheck, then give it a try.

The amount is given in Canadian Dollar?

German honorary consul in Pattaya also does affidavits and he didn't write that I have to fill any form. Documents (pension letter, account statements) seem enough.

And it's not for free (about 1400 Baht).

This is the actually form that I fill out, and the Canadian Embassy types it out.

I submitted my 90 day report on-line on 14th May.  It was accepted and I received a form filled with my information.  I was due to report on or before the 15th.  Do you think I have scraped through or do I need to go to the immigration office and also do it manually?

I am actually leaving on the 20th late at night and have a re-entry for my return.  What happens if I wait for the 90 day report to be accepted and it isn't?

    Thank you for your help.

If you are leaving on the 20th, 5 days after your report date, you will be fine, as you are allowed to report 15 days before and upto 7 days after.

That happen to me once, my 90 day was due on a certain day, but I was leaving in 6 days so I didn't bother doing a report, and I haven't had a problem since then.

  5. I just like to know if departing business class passenger can still use Fast track departing Suvarnbhumi, as of March 5th I could . I am asking as I entered into Thailand from the Philippines 13 days ago March 12 with a business class ticket, and when I tried to enter the Fast track the lady wouldn't let me, stating that they have now changed it so Fast Track isn't available to Business class passengers. I told her that the signs says differently, she informed that they have just changed the policy, fortunately I have an APEC card.
I have just called EVA Airlines, and they informed that it still applies to Business class tickets. Any updates would be appreciated.

I have a US number ( Kentucky ) that rings on my mobile in Thailand via VOIP.

It is a FREE NUMBER that works anywhere you can connect toWiFi or data, Voice AND text. It is a ....application....

that rings even if you are using your mobile

    TEXTNOW.COM

I use it for my US BANKING and VOICE calls inboud / outbound - NO video.

NOTE:There are several plans - free to paid.

You can probably port your US number.

HINT:  CHECK for application updates especially.... IF ....you get a error when you call UPDATE!!!!

You should check out WiFi calling.

I have heard that Google Voice sometimes does not work for two-factor authentication or sms short codes, so I am planning on keeping my current Mint Mobile plan and phone number (but using wi-fi only for that phone once I move to Thailand, so that I don't have to pay for international roaming or potentially have an issue with 2FA). I'd then buy a separate phone to use in Thailand and sign-up with a local provider for that phone. Other than the cost of continuing the Mint Mobile plan, do you see any flaws with this plan? Would a US cell provider like Mint Mobile cancel my plan if they found out I was living in abroad?

I still have my mobile from Canada, I have unlimited Canada wide minutes and free international SMS and I have Wifi calling enable and set in airplane mode, and it works as if I was back in Canada, and uses my existing mobile plan, people I talk to don't realize that I am half way around the world as the voice quality is the same as if I was back in Canad. Last month I used around 1,000 minutes and wasn't charged any extra, and I am able to receive OTP from my banks in Canada.

I would check with Mint mobile offer Wifi calling.

Check out these 2 links from Mint Mobile.

  8. Currently I have a non-o extension, based on retirement. I am planning a trip out of Thailand and be back April 22. I would have to do a 90 day report by July 20th, but would anything happen if I didn't do a report at airport immigration if I leave Thailand around July 27th (7-10 days after the report date. I know you can report 5 days after date) and not return in about 18 months and by that time my extension would have expired and I would just enter under visa waiver, I am Canadian, as I am only go to stay no more than 30 days for each trip in the future.

  9. If you are using MEA (Metropolitan Electric Authority), then you can download their app and pay using the app. You can even use foreign issue credit cards. I do believe they will charge you up to 5 Baht service charge. This is what I do, and I have set a reminder in my calendar to remind me to pay for it every month.

Sukhumvit can be a challenge for dining. There is a good Japanese place on the corner or 24/1, that is reasonable and popular.

Otherwise, the malls have a good selection of restaurants.

Nearly all the good bars on soi 22 are gone. That was a great complex. Sad to see it torn down. The bar scene in Bangkok is greatly diminished. Still a great city, though.

Most of the bars from Soi 22 have relocated to Soi 7 just before Beer Garden. Also Soi Cowboy is dead, I was there about 7 weeks ago and it's dead as 1/4 of the bars are still closed. Nana Plaza is the place to go to.

There is no debate now since immigration issued a new regulation in June of 2020 for TM30 reporting.

A new TM30 is not required when entering the country with a re-entry permit or a multiple entry visa. Only if you enter with a new visa or visa exempt is one needed. The same regulation states that a new one is not required when traveling within the country.

Does that also apply to when you do a new extension?
