  1. I always advise NEVER buy property in Thailand. Rent is cheap and once you purchase it's difficult to sell.

I have two friends who coincidentally happen to sell their homes in Phuket for half of what they bought them for. Both homes had been for sale for 10 years.

    10 years.

Buying a home in Thailand is a financial mistake.

Hopefully this will serve as a warning to other tourists intending to come here and they can make arrangements to go on holiday to an alternative country.   Many people were asking the question of what happens if someone tests positive on arrival and of course there was no clear answer and many suspected it would be the absolute horror show that it is.

This testing + quarantine on arrival + insurance + expensive imprisonment for positive test (or negative test when near to someone positive) will only stop when the tourists vote with their wallets as this will force them to come up with more sensible requirements to come here, such as simply showing proof of vaccination and nothing else other than passport.

    That's the bottom line. Sorted

    >when the world is ready

The people are ready, unless you consider a small group of "leaders" as your overlord.

I hope you aren't the type who just waits for daddy govt to tell you what to do and how to think,

Yeah, most of Thailand are in that small group. Opening Thailand now, is too soon. Most of the population is unvaccinated and susceptible to getting and spreading covid. Every kid is unvaccinated. This move will kill thousands and it isn't necessary.

It is these kind of opinions by the uneducated wanna be doctors, that spur on these wrongful decisions. You're just another some guy with a bad opinion.

Covid is currently as bad as it's ever been. It is the wrong time to open the country

And you are not concerned - like many others on the way to 7/11 - that the PM is not elected?

Not even a tiny little bit concerned. I remember the good old days when when a corrupt democracy produced anarchy under Yingluck. The woman was completely incompetent. I'll take the General and his ilk every time. The PM was elected by the way. I realize that may not fit your narrative but he was.

Tell me this...who replaces Prayuth? Name one single politician who could lead a government that wouldn't be completely corrupt in six months. There are no choices. Prayuth was elected by a majority of Thais and has the overwhelming support of the Thai people. If there was an election tomorrow he's win again.

Like many others on the way to 7/11? Secret meaning or just confused?

When you are 40 and your girlfriend is 20 she's half your age.

When you are 50 she'll be 30, 3/5 your age.

When you are 60 she'll be 40, 2/3 your age.

Before you know it she'll be older than you, get out now!

(I figure anybody who uses Groucho as an avatar would appreciate such humor)

Yeah, she is catching up. Thank you for your kind pedantic remarks. ????

Pinot I am not American and would never watch that dreadful news / propaganda outlet FOX!.....C'mon man, how about not projecting assumptions?! There is Ivermectin for humans (not the 'for animals' one) and it has achieved great results eliminating Covid early on and it's verified in several Countries now such as India and Japan....there are reputable medical practitioners globally on board with it....all you have to do is research and inform yourself, but use alternative search engines to Google who censor and hide articles that talk truth. Duck Duck Go seems  reasonable still. All the best to you.

The reason you won't find it on Google is because it's complete and utter BS. Dig deep enough and you'll find support for horse dewormer somewhere...

Why do you sarcastically write "thoughts and prayers" ?  I mean , who does that?  I note that with your recycling of the tired  "horse dewormer" meme you out yourself as someone who wishes to continue to deny the effectiveness of early treatment. Why would you do that when it has benefitted so many?  Many vaccinated people are getting sick. Many experts disagree with the constant lockdowns. Characterising anyone who has an alternative viewpoint as a high-school dropout is silly, and demeans only yourself. In short, your post comes up short in many ways and is worthy only of contempt. You need to up your game.

You demean yourself with praise of horse dewormer. We don't have alternative viewpoints, you're comically delusional.

"Thoughts and prayers" are usually offered to the thousands killed by gun violence that the far right perpetrates with its resistance to gun laws in the US. I offer my thoughts and prayers to the poor misinformed high school dropouts and those that continue to have "an alternative viewpoint" to the effectiveness of the vaccine in stopping the global pandemic.

You can live in fear for the rest of your life with 10 booster and 10 mask anytime. I won't

Excellent. Thoughts and prayers. I'm sure your background as an Immunologist led to your informed decision. Again, thoughts and prayers.

The economic damage on an individual level and the hardship and stress caused by lock downs is far more dangerous. People are facing huge financial difficulties on a massive level. So forget the BS breakthrough propaganda. Its the economy causing hardship that is the issue.

Another brilliant opinion expressed by an educated virologist, obviously. Here I thought it more about death but I'm sure you're right, it's the economy.

The propaganda is becoming relentless. So do they work or don't they. Project Veritas is blowing this whole narrative wide open. Shouldn't that be the headline?

Thanks so much for reminding us about the valuable works James O'Keefe is doing. Project Veritas is an American far-right activist group founded by James O'Keefe in 2010. The group produces deceptively edited videos of its undercover operations, which use secret recordings in an effort to discredit mainstream media organizations and progressive groups. I know when I and my MAGA friends need insight to what the truth is, I head over to Project Veritas. ????

  9. May not be the place to post this but deodorant has started to make my underarms itch. No sign of rash, just itch. When I stop using it, it stops. Haven't been able to find deodorant that advertises itself skin sensitive. I'm using powder and cologne which work most of the time.

  10. In my Phuket Beach town all the restaurants are selling alcohol like this. I was in one the other day and there is the local police Commander sitting there with a bottle of wine on his table, drinking it alone.

My guess is like stated above the bribe money wasn't paid.

Tourists shouldn't come here.  Hospitals that full, covid raging, a big majority of the population unvaccinated and crooked cops who can pull this nonsense whenever they want.

I was at Bangla Rd last night.  I'm not a tourist, I work elsewhere in LoS.  Needed to go home, work pays for all the hoop-jumping.   Before I arrived, whilst doing said hoop-jumping (getting very good at it now!) I never would have recommend coming here for just fun.  Inane process.

Now we're here.  It's a ghost-town of course.   But, the resort I'm in costs less than 1/3 what it did before, service is impeccable as there's NO ONE HERE, and the beach is the most beautiful I've ever seen in the last 13 years.  Bangla Rd was VERY fun last night!   I mean, I REALLY, REALLY wish the Missus was not with me.  Mongers heaven.  Even non-mongers would have loved it...  Less than 10% of places are open, but those that are, holy smokes are they crowded!

I, for one, admire and respect the massive middle finger being hoisted towards government inanity by the Patong bar scene.

It is these types of crowds and activities that we're supposed to fear due to COVID risks.   All are open-air.  If COVID truly is so risky for us vaccinated sheeple, there should be DOZENS of foreigner cases in the next 2 weeks after what I saw last night.

Something tells me we are not going to see that.

Open the Gee Dee place up!!!!   Give people something to live for!  Thais of all walks of life deserve their lives back!

Another renown epidemiologist weighs in on the correct path back for Thailand...tsk

Everyone advocating opening the country with schools closed, hospitals full, the population not even close to vaccinated and covid out of control, should really stick to something they know about, like say mongering. ????
