SENATORS PLAN TO GRILL the coalition government over alleged double-standard privileges provided for de facto Pheu Thai boss-cum-convict on parole Thaksin Shinawatra, among other bones of contentions, on the upcoming Monday, sources said Saturday (Mar 23).

In Monday’s censure debate on performance of the Pheu Thai-led government without a subsequent vote of confidence, dozens of senators all of whom will have completed their five-year term in the upcoming May, plan to take Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and members of cabinet to task over the alleged double-standard privileges which the authorities had evidently provided for the de facto Pheu Thai boss-cum-convict on parole for a six-month period during his extended stay for mystery-shrouded “illnesses” at Police Hospital in lieu of Bangkok Remand Prison where he had been originally destined for a curtailed, one-year jail term on charges of misconduct perpetrated during his previous premiership.

Thaksin who had never spent a single day behind bars had been granted parole only to go places either with or without a soft splint around his neck despite his having been earlier officially reported as being “critically ill” during his six-month admission at the hospital.

In particular, the Corrections Department and executive officials of Police Hospital will likely be singled out as the authorities held accountable for the undue privileges allegedly unprovided for any ordinary convicts other than the politically powerful Thaksin who had earlier allegedly manipulated the setup of the Pheu Thai-led coalition government and allocation of cabinet portfolios among coalition partners literally from his private ward at the hospital via Pheu Thai wheeler-dealer Phumtham Wechayachai.

There further are rumors that the same objectors refused any inquiry into the tea money Lord, heir to reddish bulls, hanging out in Singapore with his homies... and hidden in plain sight.  Rumors aside, to date there has been NO request from the Thai government to Interpol to help find the elusive rascal.

So it seems like Western anti-china propaganda to me.

For the first time in the history of China, each man, woman and child has at least two meals a day.  Further, the West is crying over the Chinese state subsidizing Chinese industry, while simultaneously the Western nations... subsidize Western industries... This news bite is team propaganda. Sure, I cheer my Home team, when they are not being obviously sh*tty, but I am not required to boo the other side, nor accept that as a given.

    My Dear Gentile Friends:

Maybe you wonder why I seem so ....

Out of Touch, at times, on this forum.

I think it must be that your sense of humor and mine...might....

    Not be the same.

Jewish humor is something to be savored, and also something that most gentiles cannot appreciate.

    This is not my fault.

I am a product of my upbringing.

Also, I have spent most of my adult years in Asia.

Therefore, unlike most of you, I see the world from a different perspective, and ... NOT....from the perspective of....a....

    Cabby in London.

Would I trade my early years for anything?

    No.

    I would not.

I love the fact that I grew up in a Jewish neighborhood, and I would not have it any other way.

    So, then....

Does anyone here know any good Jewish Jokes?

And, do you even know what Jewish humor might be?

Jewish humor is like fine wine......

And most cannot truly appreciate it, if one is a gentile....

    Here is just one example:

    image.png.1cc8a19afa65d126ffa84091f786360d.png

But, NO, the above is NOT, anywhere NEAR, the best example of Jewish humor.

Maybe I will add a few Jewish Jokes...below,....

    When I am ready.

Growing up in a Jewish neighborhood, being one of the sole surviving gentiles is my principle claim to fame.

I would not have had it any other way.

    I am grateful for this.

Now, I guess, you know a bit more about me.

And, also, you might know, now, why I stick out like a sore thumb, too....because...

I know you care about this.

    Regards,

    Gamma

Note:  I bet that you might not know just how much an Asian neighborhood and a Jewish neighborhood might share in common.

Please remind me to tell you, sometime....

A Catholic Priest and a Rabbi are in a horrendous head-on collision with each other on a busy highway.  They crawl from the wreckage and find that they are both uninjured. Better, the Priest retrieved a bottle of whisky from his half of the demolished cars, unscratched and intact.

The Priest opens the bottle and says, "I toast our good fortune " He drinks. "I toast the miracle of our survival and attribute it to a blessing from Almighty God" He drinks again. "I also respect and honor your sacred trust." He drinks a third time. He hands the bottle to the Rabbi, who puts the cap back on and smiles. The Priest asks, "Aren't you going to toast our luck and blessings too?" "Sure," the Rabbi replies. "After the cops get here."

  6. The Thi government website link below lists a Non-O Foundation Visa at number 10.. Is this what a 'Volunteer Visa' is called by immigration?  I want to convert my tourist Visa to work at a registered bona fide NGO.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    update:

Yesterday I called all the major immigration centers in Thailand to try to get some answers. All busy or cut me off.

Today Chaeng Wattana did answer and the young lady says farang must leave Thailand / do embassy online to apply for non-O, if you want to change from non-B. After telling her many people do not leave Thailand, she back-tracked and said come to counter L Chaeng Wattana with your documents. I asked if I can come to discuss the process (not apply/bring documents) and she said NO. One can assume the document checker is the gatekeeper to the senior Imm officer, so you can't talk to those people without passing the first step.

Next I called Chamchuri (BOI) and they are very helpful - my work is not connected to BOI but they did talk to me.

They said you have 2 choices: Change reason for extension (B to O), or apply for Non-O here in Thailand. They couldn't tell me the best/most advantageous route or the time scale for doing either. But they recommended starting the process at CW before leaving the job - is that why people get a post-dated termination letter?

I am thinking change of visa type is the best option for me due to working in another province and not staying with wife - just before application - so the arduous "extension of stay based on marriage" document checking could fail. But the document/proof demands for the 90 (or is it 60) day "non-O visa based on marriage" are less stringent, so less chance of being denied. That then gives us 60/90 days to "take photos and get to know neighbors blah" before the next visit to CW.

The disadvantage is, I need to be in the province to cancel non-B (whereas changing reason for extension could have all been done in CW - even the employer can cancel the WP without the employee, right?)

So am I right that the process is:

    1) Get a post-dated termination letter from employer (can it be a copy??), giving me approx. 28 days

    2) Go to CW and make an application for non-O based on marriage: with required docs, funds proof, and above said letter. They will give me a confirmed date, in approx 21 days, to return to get the approved stamp in my passport (and I get to keep my passport)?

    3) If I want to avoid cancelling non-B early and needing 7 day extension / 1900B ? / more stamping THEN I must be in Issarn to cancel my non-B on the morning of my 'CW confirmed return date', fly into Bangkok, and dash over to CW on the same day.

I have no idea what happens if you miss a return date in the world of Thai Imm, but I would think the consequences are not pleasant. Obviously, an overstay is issued and I read on some official Thai document that "a visa change can not be done if an overstay has ever been issued"

Any comments about the chances of it panning out like this. Because CW won't talk about about what-if scenarios, then I can only go on advice.

Visa company quotes were 28k and 40k to do this. The 40k quote (very well known BKK agency) said change visa type B>O is NOT allowed in country. Only option is to change extension of stay.

The 28k company said both methods are possible.

A third agency also said, change visa type in country is not allowed. They said BOI are giving false info - or that BOI ex/employees can do things at CW that normal folk can't. They also said that CW can't be used and that another province "up north" are the ones that will receive the brown envelope. Not ideal to have a non-O based on an address/province that I will never live at and cause me headaches for future Imm dealings. No price given yet!

What a mess, maybe better just to leave and hope Vientiane hasn't got a denial-quota they need to meet

Can you tell me the name of the 28 k company?  Spare checked email is <email address removed per forum rules, please use PM system>

    Hey all,

Me and my partner have visited Thailand multiple times , last time a few weeks ago for 2 months doing a flight to Vietnam to get another 30 day stamp on return. We would both like to spend longer in Thailand as absolutely love the place , its culture , food, weather and of course the people. We are both working as online personal trainers so can work from anywhere with all clients based in the UK so know we wont be breaking any working rules when in Thailand. We know we cant get work permits for this to stay on a work visa for a longer term , so what other options do we have to stay longer. I was considering 60 day tourist visa with a 30 day extension , but after this can we leave Thailand and do the same again for another 90 days ? also how many times can we boarder run by air to get a 30 day stamp? have heard stories of people being turned away after doing this several times.

Many thanks for any advice anybody can give.

Consider exploring the Volunteer Visa option.  Many volunteer opportunities are long term. It allows you to get a work permit, and the digital nomad issue s irrelevant.

Good luck. Ignore the many clamoring rude voices.

The new Ad Bite "Lotus's Go Fresh" is a grammar train wreck. Apostrophes are used to form the possessive form of a singular noun or a plural noun not ending in s by adding ' and an s at the end. If a plural noun ends in s, only ' should be added. Correct: High school students' scores have been gradually improving over the last several years. Incorrect: Lotus's to imply plural or a missing "i".

  11. You ran short essays under the forum title, "My Turn".  You published an essay of mine called "Plain Talking: How Do They Make a CPU?"   You recently deleted the old links and now have no such place for essays.  Unfortunately, as a writer it was in my resume under publications.

Could you either import the essays into ASEAN or reactive the link, please.  I cannot see why you would do this, storage and hosting costs also considered.

    Sincerely

  12. I am told even though we are in the same province that I cannot have my current visa and work permit transferred to the new job because of moving from a government school  to a private school.. I also am being told I have to leave the country twice--once to get a tourist visa, and then the second time to get a non-b at the embassy.  I am also being told that the US Embassy in Bangkok has to c4tify my diploma, and I must get my transcript translated and also certified by the embassy. The school is inexperienced and needs some help, as do I.  I am lost as they are saying this is what immigration told them.

  13. I am looking for a simple way to spend the interim weeks.  I am thinking Visa Run to Laos (in the Northeast now), then buying a second extension for tourist visa to convert to work visa and obtain a work permit.

Any other options?  I am stressed over this, so any suggestions are welcome.

You could apply for a new extension of stay at another school with a new work permit and supporting documents from the new school.

You will need a termination letter from the school you are teaching at now stating the what you  last day of work. After it is canceled you can apply for the new extension.

So I take my new work permit, signed contract and school docs from the new employer and go to the nearest immigration office, with the termination letter,  and pay for a new extension?  Won't that create overstay?  I
