Got 2 licences today. 1 for motorbike and 1 for car. Valid for 2 years after which some minor formalities will secure 5 year licences and after that more minor formalities to secure indefinite licences.

I believe this is the standard route for Thai nationals as well. It is for my Thai wife anyway.

They stopped the indefinite DL about 20 years ago. I was lucky, I got in before then,

So the pit bull got through your fence to attack your poodles?

An animal capable of killing kids was let outside to run around loose. Why are you trying to blame me, or my dog for this act?

Responsibility of the Local Health Officer (as one of the early replies stated). Would be helpful to get your dogs in line (behind gates) before complaining. And, yes, farang have a right to complain (many on here for some reason believe they do not).

My dogs are rarely outside my gated property. There's a big difference between a poodle type dog and a killer pitbull terrier. Anyway, it's the noise at night which is most annoying.

another reason proving its better to rent not buy

If I had rented instead of getting a mortgage, I'd still be paying 15k a month. Now I pay nothing and have major asset, which I'll have for life, then my kids will have it.

Definitely buy. As for the dog, it has gone. Not sure where though.

No, I don't think they should have been killed, but if the pitbull runs free would have thought it made sense to keep your dogs in your yard. What would have happened if they'd been run over, it would be the drivers fault? Perhaps take some responsibility yourself.

You make me laugh with your nonsense.

I have 2 little poodle sized dogs that have been running around our dead end soi for a 3 years. Some <deleted> comes and leaves a killer alone for 2 days at a time, then lets it out in a soi where there are other dogs and kids, and you say I'm being irresponsible.

You need some lessons in rational thinking.

I assure you, if my kids were young, that dog would be dead already.

Ever taken two nearly dead dogs to the vet, with multiple holes in them?

Were your dogs out of your yard? How else did the pitbull attack them?

Yes they were - they are small dogs. Do you have a problem with that? Do you think they were asking to be killed, which they would have been if I hadn't whacked the mutt repeatedly with a metal gardening hoe?

Do you think Pitbulls should be allowed to run free?

Do you know what these dogs are bred for?

I think they should be slaughtered if they are.

What a cruel and insensitive comment. Do you not realize that other animals may consume that crap or that it can find it's way into the water system?

It  a sleeping pill. I doubt it would do much harm in the water supply.

Quite a compassionate comment, making the dog go to sleep.

This killer, nearly bit my dogs' heads off. They should be allowed and I feel justified to take the law into my own hands as nobody here enforces it.

Wear earplugs in your own house for many hours every day ?

    Very unpleasant.

Sometimes I wear earplugs but find them very inconvenient after one hour.

Exactly, it is night and day. Also, I have important teleconferences online every day.

    Ear plugs... Done

Failing that, try talking to the owner again but be more forceful..

    Failing that, move !!

No, why should I have to wear ear plugs?

No, but asking an influential friend might help.

No way, my house was built first.

  10. There has been a pitbull animal next to my house for 6 months now. It is left alone and howls all day, affecting my work. It also howls all night sometimes. I'm amazed the other neighbours have not done anything yet. It is dangerous and when it was let out the property recently, it nearly killed two of my dogs, costing my large vet fees, which they went halves on. I have talked to the owner at length about the problem but they are totally irresponsible and selfish.

It's making me lose money from lack of sleep/work. the police said there is nothing they can do. There are kids in the soi, that I feel at are risk too.

    What would you do?

left last month with my Thai born son but has australian passport and all I needed was his original Thai birth certificate to show he was born here and the reason he had no entry to Thailand stamp in his passport.

Are you saying all dual citizens need to take their Thai birth certificate when leaving Thailand?

Are you talking about kids leaving on their first ever passport?

I've never been asked for one for my kids. When they've gone abroad themselves, they've never been asked.

I done this last November when my daughter was 7 months old. She had both Thai and UK passports. At immigration on leaving BKK we were also asked for her birth certificate. We did not have this but the officer let us proceed but we were told we should have this with us in future. No problems at the UK side.

I've travelled many times with all of my kids, sometimes alone(no wife).

Never been asked for the Birth Certificate. Passport and ID card are proof. Tell the Imm officer to read the nationality act.

There is a form needed from the amphur when travelling alone, which was signed by the wife, but nev er asked for it.

While I sympithise with lending to 'some' people I disagree that everyone is 'out to get something for nothing'

I have lent money to people & had it repaid I have borrowed money from people & repaid it

You have to look at each individual separately. I own & operate a business here in Phuket & because the Banks won't lend to me, I have to look to a fellow farang for investment capital to build my LEGITIMATE business.

A short term loan with good interest prepared by a solicitor to make it legal & showing good collateral, with clearly defined terms

Absolutely, too many hand it out foolishly, without even asking the repayment plan.

Well, we can, but they are of the boring type and the pedagogy is suspect at best. Many have had to endure them. Many university professors lecture. That's what it is, essentially. There might be the odd times when they write on the board and so it becomes a reading activity. LOL It is hard to call this "teaching" though. There are the odd times when students ask questions to make it more interactive. LOL University teaching is a bit of a joke.

AUA once told me that their classes involved listening only. I said forget it, I'll watch the telly for free.

I don't have Thai/British kids, I have brought up Thai kids listening to me and mum speaking English, because it was easier for Mrs.Trans to learn/understand what I was talking about. The kids picked up understanding English but talking it was a different matter...All is coooool, and definitely not weird...:stoner:

Fair enough, I was confused as earlier you said you did have farang/Thai kids. It wasn't you that I was actually talking about saying it was weird.
